my son 19years old bought the same car as you tested,, i'm so jalous.. i prefer this car to my IS350 2014... next one for sure for me.. GSF for me!!
I had one of these which I bought in 1995. It was a joy to drive. So connected to the road, and she cornered like a cat! She would throw the back end out and drift back in line. No oversteer and no understeer. Loved that car! Thanks for the video!
@@derronsanchez391 They are fantastic beasts.
would it be worth it to do a quick release style wheel like a momo or sparco? Of course it would be paired with the corresponding safety mods like seats and harnesses but ive been debating to either go quick release or just get a mk7 or mk6 gti wheel.
@NolansNotSlow Depends on what you want. Quick releases are nice for the adjustability in position. The newer GTI steering wheels won't offer that, but they will look more oem plus. If it's a track car, quick release. If it's mostly a street car, GTI wheel. That is my two cents.
@@M-t3ch then looks like im going quick release haha, what hub and adapter should I buy? Cant find anything on it really but im also short so I need something that wont stick out from the dash a bunch, thank u for the input as well I appreciate it
@NolansNotSlow I don't know a ton of brands for steering wheels. The owner of this car said to avoid an NRG wheel, but the rest are fine. Generally, I'd say spend more on a steering wheel. You interact with them all the time, and you want it to last.
Any particular reason why you aren't using the 4th gear lockout button and just going straight from 4th to 2nd and back?
@@therealcarlmarti I was waiting for this comment. I just discovered the overdrive button recently. I actually would have used 3rd for most of this had I known I could.

I don't recall this type of steering wheel in euro-spec E36 🤔
Yeah US car steering wheel is trash 😢
@gertstolk Yup, this is the wheel we got here lol. It's the same as the non m pre face-lift wheel. Other than it is 10mm smaller in diameter and has the tri color stitching. In 1998.5 we got a 3 spoke which is what I have swapped into my car.

Crazy isnt it but having said that over last 10/15 years automatics are getting more popular than manuals
@@mikesphoenix_e46m3 It makes sense for most people. Modern automatics are better. Only car enthusiasts prefer the manual.
I have a 99 m3 convertible, bought it 2 years ago with only 70k miles!! it's like in mint condition, got it tuned & cut the cats off & that's it haven't had to do anything to it. got it to 88k miles now it does have a leaking power steering pump & when i had it up on the jack a few months ago i noticed the guibo's got some hairlines in it & doesn't look too good, now you've got me concerned that i definitely need to replace it right away lol
@deters6137 If you don't have any driveline vibrations yet and you don't drive the car too hard, just keep an eye on it. Yours being an automatic helps prevent them from "blowing up" as stated in the video. The automatic can't deliver the same driveline shock as a manual is capable of doing. Make sure to do the center support bearing as well while you are in there. Those usually follow close behind.
@M-t3ch oh it is a manual lol, I'm not sure if I notice driveline vibrations it's kinda hard to tell, I do red line it at least a couple times everytime I drive it, I heard that's good to do at least once per drive to keep the carbon build up down, but maybe I'll hold off on doing that for now until I replace the guibo 😅
@deters6137 I don't know why I thought yours was an auto, lol. If you don't experience any vibrations, send it. When I say shock, I am more so referring to clutch dumping or power shifting. Replacement is not too hard though. Either way, cool car! Easy fix.
@M-t3ch Alright cool, thanks a lot for the tips!
what about one price aftermarket lights😂
Another great video keep up the great work
@@mikesphoenix_e46m3 Appreciate the support!
Curious if you or Ben have replaced rod bearings at all since it’s a higher mileage car. I know it’s not that big of a deal on these cars but I also have a 97 m3 sedan with 260k miles and I plan on doing the oil pump shaft and nut upgrade and oil baffle and pickup tube etc. and I feel like if I’m already down there I might as well replace the rod bearings but i haven’t done a engine oil analysis yet to see if that would dictate my choice. But keep up the good work I always enjoy the e36 videos!
Not yet 🤞
@whitetincan Negative, these don't have rod bearing issues like the other m engines have. Slightly looser tolerances. If you have no evidence they are worn, leave them. There is more risk in changing them and getting a bad set over sending them.
I think I got lucky, cause I scored a relatively low mileage (88,000 miles at the time) early 1992 e36 325is with the special m50b25nv back in March. The previous owners were relatively good to the car, but, they never had any of the major maintenance done (they just did minimum regular maintenance) that needs to get done after that much time, so I've had to overhaul the cooling, power steering, and ignition systems, as well as replace some old rubbers (though i'm not even close to doing everything yet). Despite all that, I love the car, and I've been dailying it since I bought it, so she's been going strong for over 6000 miles :3
@DenelleZ31 The 92 models are really cool! Lots of differences from the later ones. Get it sorted and enjoy :)
My 95 m3 coupe is nearing 300k and I've had little to no problems! Regular maintenance and a little bit of upgrades but it's been great. Bought it in 2018 at 160k miles with an auto trans and now it's getting a manual swap! Can't wait, great video by the way 👏
@immezdzej8455 That is a lot of miles in 6 years! 20k a year. The manual swap will give a new life to the car. Glad to see other high mileage examples out there.
@M-t3ch it's has more mileage than I'd like, but it has been my daily this whole time! I'm in the manual swap for around 3000$ but I have everything new! Other than the transmission lol I plan on making a detailed video showcasing the swap as well a some driving videos! What setup do you use for your pov footage?

I have a 2010 IS350 F Sport in Ultra Sonic Blue that I love. I fitted a Tsudo SP2 axleback, F Sport airbox and exhart intake with sound tube which brings out the growl much more. @mikesphoenix_e46m3 No one over here knows how to drive a manual lol. No reason to with the way cars are going. You guys do have a lot of 3 pedal cars over there.
I had for 3 years a '99 prelude (200hp and 162k km) until August. I fell in love with that car, unfortunately, some idiot destroyed it while parked and I sold it :( The only drawback I have is how difficult it is to find body parts in Europe. Someday I will buy another
@@The_Nukenin I have heard some Japanese cars are hard to shop for in Europe. Sorry to hear about yours.
Great vid! I love my 97 Prelude. I've got the H23A SiR engine swapped into it with an iceman cold air intake and a set of ram horn headers of the custom made variety, and it rips. Lots more engine noise and intake noise too, literally able to hear it gulping up air into the HKS mushroom filter. I loved the stock H22A4 Engine, but the extra torque from the H23A is really nice. You can tell what they were trying to do with the longer stroke and bigger bore, trying to get the most out of the engine. With my setup I wanna say I am in the 220hp/180ftlb torque range with it mostly stock, and you can tell she wants to go even with the minimal mods. I'll also say it is definitely deceptive with size. It's a rather smallish car, but is quite long. It's nearly the same length as my 2008 Mercury Gran Marquis. lol
@NotStephenColbert I didn't know they had an SiR for these. I'd love to try one of those someday. Induction noise is my favorite automotive sound. Agreed on the sizing. It has a pretty large footprint relative to what you'd expect it to be.
This car will forever be one of my favourites! Idc if the non-Honda guys think it’s just a civic.

2000 Camry LE V6 5speed manual owner here. I've put almost 80k miles on it so far and currently at 250k miles. Daily driver. Best car I've ever owned. I've taken it on several 12 hr road trips and it's such a pleasant driving experience. Way quieter and comfortable than my 2015 Fit 6speed. Comparing comforts, it still doesn't beat my old 07 Maxima SE. But I'll take NA and reliability over a Nissan CVT any day!
