  • Now that the Kawasaki ZZR 1100 is finished it was time to turn my attention to the ZXR. It has been sat with just the engine and frame for months waiting for parts and respraying and of course the accident and repairs of the ZZR took priority. It looks good just a few more jobs. Beginning of Sept is the target date to finishA and get it registered.

Hi mate, yes it is and maybe the only roadworthy example in the Philippines 🙂

Good stuff… mine is on the strip-down process now ready for the long job of restoration. Thankfully they’re relatively simple machines and parts availability is generally excellent, minus the bodywork which is borderline impossible to get original good stuff now.

Hi mate, one of the reasons I got this one was the fact that all the fairings were original that needed a small amount of repair and repainting.

@@MichaelZZRrider good call… mechanically as you know they’re very tough, and the architecture is so close to the ZZR you’ll have no issues at all. Worth doing a camchain tensioner even just as a precaution if it’s been laid up. Camchain runs between 2 & 3 on these not on the end of the cam/crank so it’s a big job to do a chain.

@@headrace4863 Thanks fo that mate. The bike has only done 20k KM (12k miles) but has had long periods of being laid up. The engine is strong and sounds sweet. Once I get it registered I will think about the chain and tensioner. For now just want to get it finished. The accident really screwed up the schedule.
