  • So the ZXR is effectively finished. For the last two days I have been riding it around the Sub Division in first and second gear to test everything out and make sure nothing fell off!! (It has happened before). Today I took it out for its first proper run. It is so different to what I normally ride. To say I loved it would be an understatement. At first, it felt like a toy compared to what I normally ride. Sooooo small. I fell in love with it immediately. The engine is a gem and the induction roar and sound from the exhaust is mesmerizing. The "Beast" lives beyond 6000 RPM and it is addictive. As well as the sound there are those beautiful and iconic looks. I cant wait to put new tyres on it and take it bend chasing. The only issues with the bike after the shakedown run is a small leak from the clutch master cylinder. That will be done next week after a work trip.

Ha! Ha! Agree about the sleave for the clocks. When I got the bike it was missing and the last owner had secured the instruments with black rubberized glue. Took me ages to remove it. Found the correct sleve in Holland. Took weeks to find it.

They usually run barely out of the ‘cold’ sector on the temp guage, fan cuts in about 1/4 the way up the gauge. The headlight reflecting back in the fairing is because there’s a fluffy draft excluder type seal that goes around the light unit. They compress over time and don’t fill the gap. 👍

@@MichaelZZRrider I’ve found things such as these usually in German ebay, same as the clock surround… like hens teeth but they’re out there. Doing my H2 at the moment. Been laid up for 10 years, my H1 is in my page pictures.

Sweet looking bike. Definitely one for the twisteys, though.

I have a 1990 H2 and the temp usually sits a bit below the 9 o clock position.. tbh, as long as the fan comes in as it touches the red zone, it will cool. The fan is pretty decent at cooling..
She sounds in good fettle though 👌🏼😊

Thanks for the comment mate. I have had a few issues recently but all is now fine. I had to replace the fuel pump, fuel pump relay and the filter and temp sensor as the fan was coming on but not turning off. I could only stop it by removing the fuze. Anyway, all good now.

Awesome bike! Love the raw sound and power of my ZXR and just how solid the front end and chassis is when tipping it in. I’ve partially restored mine but thinking of kicking off a full rebuild later this year. But no doubt getting parts is getting trickier nowadays! Like to see u out where u can open her up thru some nice sweeps bends!👊
