For some reason, whenever Larry talks I get huge Jurassic Park vibes and get the itch to rewatch the first movie. His way of explaining is similar to Mr. DNA's presentation on Dino DNA and also has a bit of Dr. Malcolm's Chaos Theory talk with Dr. Sattler. I love it xD

New to the channel. I've been a bird lover for an eternity now and only recently reptiles have become a part of my life. Rescued an unwanted bearded dragon from an unhealthy home. Now, it's lizard this... Turtle that... 😋. But I must say that those are very happy, healthy looking tortoises you've got there! SO adorable. 😍
BTW, Nice choice of intro song. 👌

🐢 are just scaley dogoos and cute af they love scratches on the head and under the chin. Or giving their shell a scratch with a. Tooth brush I used to do it to my red footed I rescued she passed away as she had metabolic bone disease and had several problems she toppled over and suffocates as her shell was a very messed up shape as lack of UVB :(

If you have ever watched a soft shelled turtle under water you can see them bringing water into their throat and then expelling it. I would guess they are extracting O2 from the water by having highly vascularized mouth and throat lining.
    Cool stuff, thanks,

    I love Larry!
    On turtles burying themselves:
I often plonk my female musk turtles in a nesting box of soil overnight so they can lay eggs. One morning one was missing. It must have got out of the lid. Spent hours searching corners of the house. No luck. Gave up and started looking through the soil for eggs. About 6 inches down completely submerged in soil was the musk! Must have been there for hours. Mud turtles indeed(I know that's a different species but indulge me).
Just a heads up for any 'lost' turtle mysteries to consider in your search :)

what about an animal like a common snapping turtle that has such a small bottom carapace do they breath differently? I know people say when they are babies they are capable of drowning and I've read that they usually only hold there breath for 45 minutes or so ? but the bottom shell is very open compared to most other turtle and tortoise?

How bout a question feller?? I'm n love with my daughters torr! She's adorable!! And frustrating! I can not for the life of me nail down actual facts on how to tell if they R: happy, dehydrated, got enough space....help please!?? She was a hatchling, had her since October, got her in a bioactive habitat (I think that's what it's called, grass, bugs, clover, geraniums, she's got a pad! Got 4 lights lol, ceramic heat, light heat for basking, uvb, and a grow light for the plants. I know prob overboard, but it's cold here (tennessee) were building a tort table bout 30x42x18 deep, rite now I've got the biggest tote I could find ,oh n painted the sides so she's not pacing. Any tips or something I NEED to do or take away? I got pics but don't think I can do pics where I'm at now....would love to here from the best! Btw moving to Florida soon cauz of our new addition. What ya gonna do they steal ya heart! Wow.
