I would've love a starter/structure deck from either Yusei, Akiza or Crow back in the 5Ds Era. ^^
If they could do it for Revolver and Soulburner then I'm sure we could get structure decks for other characters
I'm pretty sure they had 3 structure decks based on Yusei. I had gotten all of them as my favorite monster is Stardust Dragon. We have a long history together. I love that card ❤️. The 3 decks 1st being Junk Warrior, 2nd Junk Destroyer, and last is the Synchron Extreme Deck and I believe that one is based more off his Manga Deck.
Thankfully, we've got a Jack Atlas deck coming out this year (for OCG land).

It's so strange that a Jaden Structure doesnt have any fusions in it. That's like Jaden's whole thing
Shows how bad starter decks use to be compared to now. Now you get a fully functioning deck that even stands a chance against the meta. (If you get really lucky.)
I think Yuya's starter deck only had two pendulum cards in it too
@@Reina5342 I wouldn't say bad per se. They did come loaded with (most time banned) staples. But I agree the starter decks were kinda all over the place. The structures had more of an identity and I did enjoy those a lot more. Specifically the warrior structure with Gearfried the Master Swordsman
They were out of sync with the anime standard, or were hesitant putting in Extra Deck monsters. Now you get a heap of Extra Deck support with structures.
@@alfredgomez3128 I will say classic starter decks were more in line with anime inspires with some filler but later definately seemed more filler than anime inspired. Jaden def shoulda had atleast 1 poly and flame wingman
Do not forget, we still need to see a Kaiba vs Pegasus starter deck duel! It's the only match we are missing from the classic 4!

i instictively clicked. no second thought. these 2 decks are some of the most beautiful items of my childhood. i will never forget yugi standing with black luster soldier on the back and jaden with one of my favourite hero monsters ever to this day. Thank you guys for making me have a small nostalgia blast like this
I think I'm the only person who went for the Kaiba structure deck over the Yugi one. 😂 I always liked Kaiser Sea Horse.
Even if Konami didn’t want to give the Jaden starter deck any fusion monsters, imagine how different the deck would be if it had Skyscraper - would have made Avian and Burstinatrix actually useful.

Man, Alec bouncing BLS back into Paul's hand using his own monster's effect was such a big brain play. It's almost like these guys play this game a lot.

It feels way less cringe in subbed, just saying. The only weird voice acting is Professor Crowler/Cronos who is very comically french, but he makes up for it by calling Jaden drop-out boy instead of 'slifer red slacker'.

We had a turnament in germany one year ago wich allowed players to build custom Decks from 8 chosen Anime Chars in Master Duel. We got a pool of cards the characters played in the anime (and were available in Master Duel), if i remember right we got the chance to see Yugi vs. Jaden twice at the quarter finals.

That anime summoning for *Black Luster Soldier* was brilliant. When Yami Yugi unleashed this monster against Mai Valentine, it was one of my favorite ritual summons following *Magician of Black Chaos.*
Yesss! Though I wonder if its from master duel(likely) or legacy of the duelist(link? IK its a switch game is all) because Ik legacy does animations for most classic boss monsters(blue eyes, red eyes and dark magician)

These older deck videos are so fun. Love the back and forth with quick turns.
Also that Brain Control -> Black Luster Soldier -> Attack Wall of Illusion -> Gets Sent to Hand combo was brilliant.
Brain Control reads: Pay 800 LP, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls that can be Normal Summoned/Set... BLS can't be normal summoned or set, so that play was actually illegal.

Not that I don’t like modern yu gi oh, but these throwback duels are just so much more of a pleasure to watch. This is good dueling content. I guess I’m just tired of watching a quadruple xyz, with multiple search cards and special summons on the first turn. Keep it going guys.
Does Yu-Gi-Oh have a vintage format like Magic The Gathering has? I've not played Yu-Gi-Oh in years so I'm a tad behind the times. 😂
@@monkey39128 not officially but the most popular retro formats are Edison and Goat with HAT making its way in. Although I think there was a retro format side event at a YCS and they did bring back a retro format in Master Duel.
I was honestly surprised at how evenly matched these two decks were! They're classic for a reason and a blast to play! But... do you guys think the Jaden deck should have fusion monsters in it?
Should have, but they ommitted the fusion heroes so that you chase them out in packs
At that time they were pushing GX so hard and jaden's elemental flame wingman was basically jaden's iconic boss monster, so the fact that flare wingman isn't there feels less like jaden's deck and more like just some random starter deck with light theming toward Jaden.

@@hamsandwich6685 yea 100% agree, it should definitely have Flame Wingman, especially considering Avian and Burstinatrix are kinda pointless without him. There still would have been plenty of other fusions for people to buy packs for.

They released a toy with a promo version of the card.
If they can release one of the more desired fusions like that, you'd think a super rare or even common starter deck version of wingman would be minimum.

Man this reminds me of how good Yu-Gi-Oh was back before it just became multiplayer solitaire.
Man that Brain Control to attack Wall Of Illusion was such a good move. You can kind of see where Yu-Gi-Oh was growing into the intricate, nail-biting game it is now, flipping the duel that fast, then flipping it again with Axe Of Despair.

Black Luster Soldier is the card I wish you'd have seen more of in the anime but yeah Ritual Monsters sucked back in the day unfortunately. Awesome video really brought the feels back to me and it is sad the Starter Deck Jaden didn't give you Flame Wingman considering it was the first fusion hero in the show. An idea for a themed duel: Spirit Monsters Vs Gemini Monsters, Fabled Vs Old School Darkworld, and Buster Blader Vs Black Luster Soldier. Just throwing some thoughts out there.

Seriously tho, I love these videos because I remember getting all of the old structure decks back when I was a kid 20ish years ago.

Love these Pre Constructed deck duels! If you guys want to do something like this, you could do Duelist pack duels. Decks made using only the Duelist packs, that'd be pretty cool to see!
Ok so i counted, in a JAIDEN structure deck only 10 of 40 cards are actually jaidens, everything else is random nonsense, you cant call it a jaiden deck with almost no heros!

Super nostalgic, especially the Yugi deck. So, apparently you can ask Chat GPT to build a deck and set parameters for what the deck should be (IE: build a yugioh deck built around red eyes black dragon) and it will straight up put a deck together and outline the strategy for it as well. It would be kind of fun to see you guys do that, have it build a couple decks based off somewhat less favorable cars, and then try to duel using those decks. Just an idea that came to mind. Love the videos!
I remember pulling a Yamata Dragon when I was younger. It was such a cool looking card but was a pain to use. I'll have to do what you said and see what comes up. 😁

I would love it if you guys did a follow up to this video using either the decks that jaden and yugi used during their duel at the end of gx, or using an actually good DM deck vs an actually good HERO deck. That would be awesome!

Great duel. I love when you guys role play as the anime characters. It's so corny but it always gets a chuckle from me.
I haven't really seen very much of Yugioh or the 5D version at all, but to see these two guys duke it out with the pre-constructed decks is pretty amazing to watch. The Dark Magician Deck is high tier and is so difficult to face against, especially if you're vulnerable to summon any monsters on your field.

I like when you guys do structure decks but it’d be cool if u guys incorporated your card collection and maybe had people from your card shop or something make decks for you out of your collection to go against each other.

Wow, just looking at what comes in the yugi deck, it's honestly pretty stacked, as far as starter decks go; a lot of common reprints of stuff that was actually very competitive at the time of its release.
Dust tornado's second effect was once used to enable setting quickplays on your opponent's turn. Since at the time of its printing quick plays could be played the turn you set them.

I'd say misplay on that Brain Control Alec used on Black Luster Soldier but the errata was different when these cards were originally released. 😅
I love watching Alec and Paul duel! They are both quite charismatic, and you can tell they are genuinely having fun.
My niece and I had a duel. Blue eyes structure deck vs her Traptrix. Probably not the best deck for beginners but i had an extra one. I must say it was a good battle. I didn't spend time with family because of deployments. Hearing that she like Yugioh was good news. So, when she comes over we check out any new addition to my collection and duel. Paul, my man, that was without a doubt the best talking up of Neo the Magic Swordsman I've ever heard! X3 As a Neo and Trance fan who's always wanted them to have their own clan or more support that didn't scratch that itch butit felt very good. Makes me want to go troll people with Normal Mirror Force and x3 Neo and x2 Trances XD On DL mind! MD is too dangerous now with the Ishizu stuff in it.

Hey APS. I have a series idea for you guys! Replay all of the duels from Duelist Kingdom with modernized versions of their decks (ie. Kiaba uses a modern Blue Eyes deck, Yugi with a modern Exodia deck) and see how it would actually play out with no plot armor.
You should do the Syrus Truesdale Starter Deck Vs. the Kaiba Evolution deck! You should also start doing the Starter decks, like the Yuya Starter Deck & Dark Legion and the Saber Force Starter Deck Starter Deck.
Jaden structure having not a single fusion should be classified as a War Crime.

Wall of illusion and 2000 defenders was so good back in the days. Now we got 2400 4 star beaters even 2500 4 star beaters. The game hardly is fun anymore.

if u could do a more modern anime duel like Playmaker (Code Talkers/Pure Cyberse) vs Revolver (Borrel/DragonLink) i feel like those could be fun and a bit more engaging. also including some light, on-theme support such as the "Half" archetype of spells/traps if you were playing a Yuma/Utopia deck. best wishes, duelists 🎉
That Jaden Deck confuses the crap out of me. When he went through the cards I was like "What? When did he use that ?" Or in some cases "What even is that card?"

This is real Yugioh XD I want to see a 'Structure Deck' format in the spirit of the anime where you're only allowed 1 of each card unless you have another card that requires multiples (Blue Eyes Ultimate, Cyber End Dragon etc). Having to work with what you've got instead of relying on hyper efficiency makes for far more compelling gameplay.

Duel idea for you- duel each other with decks you make yourselves, as if you were characters on the show in the Duelist Kingdom or battle city arcs. No hard parameters on deck building, just the spirit of using cards you think are cool and have some basic synergy. Ex. A deck with Jinzo as your "ace" with a wasteland, machine conversion factory, paralyzing potion, etc
