  • Blender's wave modifier is probably the most amazing animation modifier I've ever seen. Let's take a look at how it creates simple animation from scratch!

    Your tutorials saved me once again from doing manual labor.. with bezier curves, hooks and what not! I used this to make a seamlessly looping ribbon for a christmas gift scene, that waves in slow-motion. For anyone interested in how to do that, you need to enter this into the Speed value of the Wave Modifier: width*2/your amount of frames.
    So for example, if your width of the wave is 1 and amount of frames 250 you type 1*2/250 into the Speed value to make it loop seamlessly.

    Awesome tutorial! I actually used the wave modifier and your holdout shading tutorial to replicate a sinusoidal function for my precalculus class, which was very fun.

    Was looking for ways to make some ocean waves, stumbled upon this gem. Not sure if i can make a ton of waves with this so id love to know if it would be a viable way to make it work.
    Either way, the more you know :)

    I'm glad I still have 2.81 which has the wave modifier. I do have 2.82 also which on my computer I do not have the wave modifier. Also at least I can append objects from 2.81 to 2.82. They do add a lot of cool stuff on 2.82 but they take away some cool stuff also which don't make any sense

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uhhhg. They're always takin' stuff away! :( Hopefully, it's just so they can perfect the old stuff and add a new version of it?

    Lovely tutorial! Such a tremendous shame you can't export this wave animation to systems like unreal, they just export as still objects, unless I'm missing something

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, the wave is Blender's modifier, so Unreal doesn't understand what it is, since it's specific to Blender. But, if you apply the modifier as an animation, you can import THAT to Unreal!

    • @TutsByKai

      There should be settings in the modifier that are able to change the direction!

    Thank you for the tutorial....but why are you using a cube for a wave function? Surely you'd use a subdivided plane.
