Dude you just solved my issue, so for those who are wondering why it started, the ecm was now grounded! The STARTER RELAY IS ON THE SAME GROUND AS THE PCM Relay WHICH IS FOR THE ECM ground! He grounded THE FREAKING ECM and PCM fuse THROUGH A starter relay RELAY WOOOOW! I am very impressed Sounds like a fuse box issue
A coworker just had this problem and I did a quick search and this video came up. He was about to get a tow but I was able to get him on his way by jumping the relay. Thanks alot!!!!
I've been searching this problem for 5 months and boom it shows up out of nowhere. No more popping the hood every damn time I gotta start my truck. Thank you.
Ultimately the problem is in the pcm , from what I understand it losses communication with the main computer so it thinks the vehicle is being stolen or something therefore it cuts off the ground circuit. You can order one on eBay you have to provide your Vin so they can program it . Then you will have no more problems, it's like 175$
My 2008 was doing this, and it was also flickering the gauges on and off, it had all sorts of gremlins! I found that the harness that went to the transfer case was shorting (rubbing) on the metal shielding. I taped up those wires and added some more wire loom and never had the problem again. I found out about this from a GM service bulletin they also stated to check the wire harness by the safety break pedal for rubbing. Hope this helps…
Maaaaannnn i believe you fixed my 2016 escalade!! It wouldn't start today again at the gas station. I had already replaced the starter, negative cable, battery, starter relay and cleaned both ground cables to the chassis. So it wouldn't start dor 15 straight minutes. I did your fix and it started right away. I waited 10 minutes and it started again. So hopefully with my 🤞🏾this is the last thing. But now i think about it i would hear a click in the area of the fuse box in the engine compartment. 🤔. Yeah we good. Appreciate ya main
Great video!!! Im your 300th like. ;)....going to try this in the morning....spanking brand new battery and starter and the only thing we got was one click and nothing else. been going at this for four days...stuck in canada...question...did you replace the BCM?
Yes in my case I had to purchase a used bcm because mine lost its programming when I removed the battery , so try this first and if it works then yea you probably have to have your bcm reprogrammed or purchase one programmed to your vehicle, lots of luck hope this helps.
Hey if you are getting a click out of the starter I would check the battery terminals and also the cable connections at the starter itself, so if you are definitely getting a click then there is communication from the bcm and might not need it , i would also tap on the starter with a light hammer while someone cranks it from the inside , could be a bad starter or loose wiring. Try that before the whole bcm thing.
I seriously would doubt its the bcm , if the bcm was bad it would never start or even try to start being it wont send the signal to the starter if it was bad. Being you already changed all the major parts , i would suggest going over the wiring at the starter make sure everything is nice and tight , especially the starter signal wire , from there go to the battery side and check that there is no corrosion at the terminals and make sure they are nice and tight, i recently had a honda that has the same exact symptoms i, i disconnected both battery terminals cleaned them ant the batter posts also undid the cables and cleaned them too (wire brush) and it soleved my problem the were loose and dirty. IMPORTANT!!!!!!! IN YOUR CASE WITH THE YUKON MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CHARGER OR SOMETHING HOOKED UP TO THE WIRES SO THE BCM DOESN'T LOOSE ITS MEMORY OR YOULL PROBABLY END UP WITH THE ISSUE I HAD , NOT SURE IF THE YUKON WOULD DO THE SAME BUT IM GUESSING SINCE ITS GM ITS BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY . Try that and see if it fixes the problem, best of luck feel free to give ma an update thank!
It’s the negative ground from the battery to the engine block. Same exact happened to me. You’ll throw 100s at it trying to fit it try just replacing the ground cable first. Try jumpstarting it where the negative cable goes to the engine block.
I didn’t look at all the comments, but didn’t he actually jump 87 and 30? He’s looking to the relay telling the numbers but forgetting he has to flip it over.
Hello jayjayltz I'm having the same issue on my 04 avalanche windows, radio, door locks everything works but just a quick question what can i use to jump where the relay plugs in anything metal or is there a special tool i need any info tips recommendations would be very much appreciated I'm at a complete loss electrical really isnt my strong suit
Ok I just did this and it did worked!! So that means my bcm is bad or I can just get it reprogrammed again ? Also, before this video someone said it could be the safety control switch but since it works by ground the relay the scs should be ok right ?? Any suggestions helps!
I believe if this worked than scs should be fine , if this issues was caused by a dead battery then yes the bcm lost its programming and you should be able to get it reprogrammed. Glad i could help
Many times it is a bad Relay , in this case you have a bad ground under your wiring harness , good find fo/sho ! that is fixable too . 1st time i have seen that 1 .
Mine makes a clicking sound but won't start up. Alternator is fairly new and battery was replaced a couple of months ago because I was having this problem. It will click but not turn on, but after a couple of tries it will turn on. After changing the battery I had had no issues till this morning, it just clicks but won't turn on. Could this be the problem?
This sounds very much like a bad starter , the next time it just clicks and no start , go under the passenger side and tap on the starter with a small hammer while someone turns the key to the start position, when you tap it and it starts then yes replace the starter. Be sure to check the wires on the battery make sure they are nice and tight and also on the starter while you are down there.
For all you guys i had the same issue, just clicks, i almost guarantee its a bad ground from the battery to the engine. Try jump starting it off the engine block where the negative from the battery goes. That cable looks totally fine but mine was totally junk. Buy a $20 ground cable and try it before anything major
I have a problem with my 2010 escalade, I'm nor a mechanic- just dabbling and trying to fix issues I can. There is an electrical prob that happens on occasion when driving - whole dash turns off and on, sometimes the radio too. And then back to normal. I've had the whole fuse box changed but it didn't fix this. And now it won't start when it's cold , single digits, it thinks I'm trying to steal it, alarm turns on and ignition is locked. I have to wait until it gets into double digits and then it starts normally. Any tips? Thanks in advance
Sounds like a loose cable or connection somewhere , these trucks are also known to have bad ground wire that ground the body to the engine , I've heard when this happens you tend to have issues like you are having. I would start by getting a couple of thick battery ground wires from your local auto parts store and ground one side to the body and the other to the engine one two different locations also make sure you clean off paint or anything from where your grounds are going to be so it ensures a good ground, if that doesn't work then move on to checking the connectors on your bcm (body control module) should be located behind the plastic panel under your steering wheel. Hope this helps
This problem just started, I did have a fire start under the fuse box did melt wires , took it to a place got it fixed , still have some lights on dash that I didn’t have before but , they got it running took it home , don’t drive it much but this problem just started, that the engine is not starting all the lights on like ur video but not cranking the engine
So it only gonna start by jumping the relay? is this fixable? if it is how much would it cost to fix this problem?and could a regular mechanic fix this or it has to be done on a cadillac dealer? Thanks
Yes it is 100% fixable not hard to do either , this happens when you disconnect the battery from the vehicle, in mine to replace it. Once the battery is disconnected , the bcm looses its program therefore cannot communicate with the pcm and must be reprogrammed To the vehicle, a good mechanic will remove the bcm and either reprogram it at his shop if he has the software to do so or he will send it out to get reprogrammed, I know it sounds confusing but it is really simple . Jumping the relay is a temporary way of getting the vehicle started so you stay stranded
@@rubioblas7390 no problem brother glad to help, also, I searched for the bcm on ebay and found that there are shops that offer a reprogramming service for these bcms you can send yours to them along with your vin# and they will reprogram it or you can buy a used bcm from them and provide them with your vin# and they would also program it.
