A note on Cure III - unlike the Medicas it can be targetted on an ally to heal around them rather than yourself, which can be useful if you need to heal allies who are far away
A tip for new players for slide casting put a emote on your hotbar, when it's greyed out it will cancel the cast if you try to move, when it's not greyed out it won't be cancelled out
Something to note, WHM has the furthest range of all the other healers when it comes to their AOE healing spell being Medica II being at 20 YALMS range which is insane. Medica I has a moderate initial heal at 15 YALMS range Medica II has the lowest initial heal BUT a really really strong Regen effect at 20 YALMS range Cure 3 has the highest initial heal and is at 10 YALMS range Consider these facts as your options when you're trying to heal party members. If your party members need a lot of healing but they won't be taking anymore damage anytime soon, use Medica II as its regen effect will heal them up to their fullest and its long range guarantee it to hit all your party members. If your party members need a moderate amount of healing, use Medica I as it cost the lowest amount of mana out of the three and has better range than Cure 3. If your party members need a lot of healing and they might be taking more damage quite soon, use Cure 3 as the Initial Heal is the highest out of all the three meaning it will most likely heal them to full in one cast but make sure you and your party members are grouped together because this spell has the shortest of distance out of the three. Also do consider that Cure 3 is the only spell out of the three that is TARGETABLE meaning you can target a member, cast it and it'll cast Cure 3 on that target member, healing that target member and everyone around that member in a 10 Yalm radius compare to Medica I and Medica II which when you cast it, only can come out of you.
Happy to see you're still making guides, I just started back up and your Reaper guide really helped me get back into the flow of things! Please keep up the great work!
I didn't know there was a name for slide casting, that's just a thing I figured out you could do from playing Red Mage I'm super new, and decided to learn healer, hoping this guide helps as much as I think it will, thanks!
If you ever wanna know more you can just ask usually. There's a ton of info but in general for healer, just give them a heal before they get too low, above 30% when you're feeling experienced, 50% at least usually, and Regens are strong over time, medica 2 is also a Regen which can stack with Regen too
I always loved playing healer hybrid classes in other mmorpgs. I'm mostly a solo player, so questing is important for me. Started the game for the first time a week ago, and to be honest, i love the white mage. For a healer, class is having more than enough dps, so solo questing is not an issue and, for instances has amazing heal properties . Even when i need to dps in an instance whm does really good job.
I've noticed in these beginner videos that you have mostly recommended starting an encounter with a direct damage spell and then following up with the DoT spell. My instinct would be to do the reverse, DoT up as many targets as I can and then go into direct damage mode. Can you elaborate on this difference?
For casters in particular, your main GCD will have a cast time behind it. You can start casting BEFORE the tank pulls (around 1.5s before), which lets you sneak in an extra hit when the encounter starts For WHM, Dia is an instant cast. This means you cannot prepull cast it and will pull the boss with it if you try to do so. Using Glare prepull allows you to do damage right as the tank pulls, meaning you don't have aggro, and then you can do your DoT afterwards
The real reason you use Cure II over Cure I is because the real resource you want to manage is your gcd's. By using Cure II, you can heal them up in 1 gcd versus the 2 gcd's needed by Cure I. This allows you to heal and dps over those 2 gcd's, which helps kill the enemy faster and making it so you have to heal less overall because the enemy dies faster. As you get higher in level, you'll want to weave in your heals using abilities and dedicate as many of your gcd's to dps. Then when you get your lillies and Afflatus Misery, you can use lily heals to feed the blood lily and hit them with Afflatus Misery because it is dps neutral meaning, its as strong as the 4 Glares you didn't get to cast (3 gcd's to feed the blood lily and the 4th to cast Misery).
One of the things I am struggling with is constantly having to downrank spells while doing duty roulette. Get pulled in to some BS level 18 dungeon and now all my spells cant be cast. The most obnoxious shit so I feel my bars are cluttered with all ranks of abilities
You wait for 2 gcds to allow the rest of the party to get their party buffs up, that way you get more attacks in with Presence of Mind under their active buffs.
One note: Class quests don't just "show up" in the upper left. They only appear there after accepting them. To find if there's a class quest available, you either have to stumble across it in the game or search online to find when they become available and where to pick them up.
they do .... once youre in a job, they'll be under the main story quest title on the top left once you've hit the level to unlock it. if you click on the yellow circle with the "!" in it, you can see where it is. though for whm theyre either in the mages guild for conj, or with raya-o-sena (girl with red hair in pigtails and a white cloak) in south shroud 18.6, 27.1 (close to the aetherite on top of a rock i think you have to jump onto)

Thank you I am new to the game this is good
I’m new, can you please explain how to do it?

I am just starting WHM and am coming back to this vid every 5 levels. Great vid and so helpful!
It's by far my favorite healer and the strongest healer of the bunch. Id ignore any criticisms of any job tbh, just enjoy.

And if a tank yells at you for continually letting them drop to 50%, hit them with the "but did you die?" and move on lol
😂😂😂 I'm taking this as law.
@@Wesker6969 yeah, same :'D

Aw man this is awesome, I want to try healer but I've always been too afraid to, this def helps quell my anxieties somewhat!
Good video, very informative, and the esuna tip was something I was unaware.
Great guide, as always! 😊
Thanks for the information. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned!
Great guide, very useful as a newbie. MUCH APPREICATED. subbed
I really like all your videos! Even though I'm in SB it's really useful for reference
Time to LEARN!

@@ArcticDracoX Makes sense. Thanks.
I will now proceed to add this videos link to a macro whenever a whm starts acting like they are better than everyone else
Thank You!
As friendly as ffxiv is, nobody ever explained WHY Cure 1 was a trap, people just kept saying "Dont use it!". Finally someone explains why.

Those low leveled dungeons are really easy since you just cast cure if your tank gets low so you mostly just dps
Good guides, il recommend you to ppl👍
I have 2 degrees but it's still time to study ✏ 📖 📚
Question, what’s the purpose of hitting 2 stones after aero before casting presence of mind?
You wait for 2 gcds to allow the rest of the party to get their party buffs up, that way you get more attacks in with Presence of Mind under their active buffs.
What chest piece is that?
General note for FFXIV: Everyone is a DPS. Some jobs just have more tank skills and some more healing skills 😂
Why not start with Aero?

I'm usually always a dps, this is my first run as a healer hope I don't disappoint!
same!! i usually play DNC (sometimes SMN) and i'm trying to learn WHM hehe
Really annoyed that we dont get the pretty versions of stone and aero right away. They are so ugly, leveling with them is so disheartening
Is that thumbnail a Taion reference?
Looks more like Setsuna F Seiei
Warrior next please 😢
