Good eye! I ended up having to record several jobs for clients who asked me specifically to use the SM7b before I filmed, and just left it on the boom. The ETHOS is still very much alive and well in my booth ;) As far as which I prefer, I personally lean slightly towards the ETHOS more often than not, but do very much enjoy using the SM7b when called to.

Depends on the type of project, but usually I’ll keep to one or the other rather than switching between. For me, longer projects I’ll record in Reaper (i.e. audiobooks, all day session backups, etc.) and smaller projects in Audition (i.e. most auditions, small commercial projects, etc.)
@@jaymyersvoiceover besides Adobe I use a softy called Hindenburg Narrator, made especially for Audiobook narration. If I knew more of how to use it, I would use it to record as well. But right now I use it to format my files to specific settings for ACX Findaway Voices and a couple more. This software does it automatically for you based on where you will be uploading the files.
@@jaymyersvoiceover it’s amazing! They have trials so you can try it out. I’m really surprised that more people aren’t talking about it. They also have a really amazing software called Hindenburg Pro for podcasting. I guess it could be used for audiobook narration too but with Hindenburg Narrator it allows you to bring your manuscript inside the software and do punch just by clicking on the sentence or paragraph where you need to redo. There’s also some audiobook presets to set levels especially for audiobooks which I use. If it were not for this software I would have absolutely NO idea how to set levels etc. for ACX. I’m sure if I knew how to use the entire software I’d really be amazed! I just don’t have time to learn and they have not done the best job in making one good video to show how to use it.

Haha it’s still there! I just received a felt cover from Studiobricks that I put up for focus and to cut down on some reflections.
