I find it kind of sad that she advocated for robot rights for so long just to end up trapped in the vessel with no agency. Especially considering all of what happened to she ship.
I don't much like OWK, but each type of droid is different. Some are built for only doing their menial task (like the one in OWK) and some need to be incredibly smart (like R2 and L7), while some need to imitate humans (like C3-P0).
From a technical stand point, it’s impressive how L3 is a hybrid of practical effects and 3d animation. As a character i love her, one of the best characters in the movie
I bet they deleted EVERYTHING from the scenes because full CGI would be easier. Just to make it more interesting they shot this and put it here so we are impressed by it :D

L3-37 and K2-SO are my favorite droids man, i still love C-3PO and R2-D2, but damn. Rogue One and SOLO really had some good ass characters....that they killed off immediately 😒 But at least L3 is still inside the Millennium Falcon

To give you another exemple, at the beginning of star wars the clone wars series nobody did like Ahsoka even myself, but thankfully of character development people and myself we ended up liked her. Even my niece grow up with her she saw herself in that character.

But if you start seeing Star Wars and taking droids and replacing them with any organic character, them wanting freedom seems realistic, and the story ending with them still enslaved is in bad taste. People agree that slavery is bad, but for some reason machines made by humans are destined to be nothing more than tools, and any commentary otherwise is laughed at. To make things worse, they took a stereotpe of far radical feminists and tied it to a character to be used for comedic relief instead, discrediting the idea that droids are equal. A dislikable character with valid complaints is then seen as a dislikable character with invalid complaints, and people seem to be perfectly happy seeing it that way.

L3 reminds me of Jenny Wakeman in the episode “The Wonderful World of Wizzly”. Jenny wanted robots to be free from oppression but she learned from her mistakes.
