I prefer PWF musically but I agree this was their best rapping or more specifically, Jennie's rap was fire. It is also their "strongest" song visually and tonally which I appreciate.

This is where it occurs to me that my taste in music is clearly different than most of the people that watched the new bp video, I love this song, it’s really my style and it’s probably my favourite black pink song.

At first, I was just like "oh". It's good but it didn't appeal to me so greatly as much as Whistle did to me before. But as I replayed it nonstop, it grew on me like how AIIYL did before. It's a really good song omfg plus the real expensive set and their outfits. It's not their best song maybe, but it's their greatest comeback yet.

The part when PD commented about the "two types" of people was so on point. I absolutely adore Whistle and I like this song a lot.
I usually agree with his opinion, but when it came to this song. This song, proved BLACKPINK was on a path of their own. This song is the reason why BLACKPINK was the recipe for the future GGs. DDU-DU DDU-DU does have that Whistle vibe, which explains why Korea loved the song, but the song also has the hype like BOOMBAYAH, which international fans love. 2018 for sure was one of the biggest years for kpop.

I think this is my favorite blackpink song, I haven't listened to the album yet but there really isn't a part I dislike, I love Rosé and jisoo's pre chorus and lisa and jennie's rap was bomb, and the visuals slayed. And ever since Bang bang bang I feel like this more diconnected verse to chorus has become popular in kpop especially with Nct and usually (like now) I really like it.

I absolutely love the music video but something about the song just didn’t sit right with me. It had me switching between “I really like this” and “this isn’t for me.” To be completely honest I was a bit underwhelmed with the song just because I couldn’t settle into a groove. That being said this is was one of the prettiest and fiercest music videos I’ve seen. I think the music video was able to shine more than the actual music. But that is just my opinion. I really don’t have anything against BlackPink but I just didn’t completely vibe with the song.
I agree with you, I feel like the flow was a little messy. The video, the visuals was just gorgeous! They looked so amazing. Maybe if they rearranged the verses from the members it would of had more of a flow. They all sound so good! The concept is so fresh.

This is one of the most successful songs in their discography. The way they changed the game and introduce this kind of hype and styles.
TBH, I listened to it initially & was SUPER impressed. But then, I felt like it the more you listen to it, the less...."impactful" it sounds? Maybe it's because of #1) the first listen is basically the re-introduction of BP after their almost year-long hiatus, 2) it starts out with a booming entrance & sound, and 3) it's Blackpink & their image is blunt/in-your-face. While it's not a bad song by any means, it just feels more like "nice...what else?"

Teddy's music signature is to be unpredictable. That is why if you can notice, all of Blackpink's songs that are composed by Teddy is like an amalgamation of different genres, even that random guitar accompaniment that just pops out of the blue. It's like two or three different songs mashed into one. I think that the end part wherein the end is "abrupt" is similar to the style of Playing with Fire--after the dance break, it just ends. And I think that is a good trait of theirs since this is very rare in K-Pop industry. Almost 98 percent of the songs ends with lyrics while theirs doesn't.
Konic Teddy's have his signature.. Almost all "swag" songs that composed by Teddy will get more upbeat and somehow not the same with the chorus during the last part of the song. It is like Bang3 and also Boomayah.

How many songs in general have people not liked after the first listen? A LOT. I think more people will come to like it over time. It’s a specific genre they’re going for I think with this song. I think you pretty much nailed it. The rap verses slay, the pre-chorus is weak, the chorus is a grower, the bridge is strong, and the song shouldn't have ended after the dance break.
I fall into the camp of absolutely adoring As if it's Your Last and not caring for Boombayah, although I love Whistle. This is a 7-7.5 for me after several listens.

At first, I was like okay not bad, but the more I listened the more I adored and appreciated every little thing. And imo one of the best songs I have ever listened to. Love your reaction videos, and I wrote my thoughts in a notebook about the album because I knew it was all going to be special, and I just want to say at the end, the gorgeous shot of them all sitting on the rotating chair at the end, it looks like they found their image.
This is exactly how i feel, this is so relatable. At first i was so confused that it feels like parts of the song didnt get well together i mean theres like a LOT happening in one song. But it feels ok now, and i quite like it

Whistle was totally my shit and ddu du ddu du had me crying because i liked and loved it too much at first listen. I think it's just a matter of preference, and people not liking it should never be a problem.
I loved this song at first listen as well as whistle. I took me months to start liking “as if it’s your last”. This is my fave comeback they’ve done so far.
I really dig that social commentary bit with the iphone imagery. Everyone is focused on something until someone fucks up and fails in some way then they turn in an instant and become out to get you in your moment of weakness. Very clever use of imagery there. I’m not even a big kpop fan or anything. I kinda just stumbled onto this video. They’re killing it though and I have no idea what they’re even saying. It’s really fun and catchy and is something I wouldn’t mind showing up on my playlist. I love finding cool shit like this even though I’m such an outsider with kpop and late to the party with song in particular. Appreciate the reaction/review though.

I lowkey feel BLACKPINK just even knowing their individual music styles thought/wrote/sang better songs. But YG picked these songs as they sounded most YG. Having teddy produce everything is making things sound repetitive. I honestly still think Playing with Fire is there best song as it seemed forward looking and was a good piece all and all. Teddy did Sunmi Gashina and Heroine. He CAN do other sounds so I don’t see why he doesn’t experiment. I wish YG wasn’t so annoying and like SM was open to using other international producers just to really see what Blackpink can do. Also a whole year and FOUR songs, iKON got 14-16 on most recent one and 17 on there debut. HOW do they only have 4 - to be that says aloottt about YG handling of Girlgrouos

When I first heard it, I did think it was all over the place. But after a while I thought it was one of their best songs and videos. You're left wanting more, but I suppose that is what they want you to feel.
