44Teeth you guys are so funny... a tiny kid did an 8.7 at 160+ on a stock wheel base gen 1... it’s more about pure skill and weight of course. He was probably a buck 20 with gear on. But a true pro. Just crazy skills..

That RSV4 sounds amazing :) Back in 2003 I took my barely run in Busa to Santa Pod, I wiped the floor of every road bike I went against (couldn't quite crack the 10sec quarter) Nearer the end of the day whilst queuing I had lined myself up against a R1, I got to the start, did my little burn out & then heard an almighty roar next to me. A full on Drag bike pushed in to teach me what fast really was, when I launched myself up the straight I watched this drag bike pull away from me like I was 16 years old again riding my ped

BMW raised the bar with electronics with the first gen S1000RR, now it'll be shiftcam technology the competition needs to adopt.
My 1999 GSF250V has variable lift on the inlet cam via way of two separate cam lobes (hi/lo), solenoid/ecu/oil pressure and rocker arms with an eccentric bushing. Hi speed cam operation activates at 9,500rpm during acceleration and stops at 9,500 on deceleration. The technology was already here 20 years ago... it's about cost and of course, emissions.

I’ve been Santa Pod twice on my street triple and I loved it. Great to see you guys there. It’s pretty cheap for some safe fun. Least no car will pull out on your like the public roads

Knowing Santa Pod somebody probably was. Went to a bonfire event where a 13 year old was sat rolling joints in the middle of the crowd watching the fire. Nobody was bothered, I have to include myself in that 😁 I did point and laugh at him though

Good to see you try your hand a drag racing. I did a few rounds of Ultimate Streetbike in the 80s on a tuned 750 H2. Some of the best fun I’ve ever had on a bike! Both your bikes were doing respectable times, so well done 👍
That was fun. I would have loved to see an experienced drag racer take a turn on each bike in the same lane though. Loved the intro.

The reaction time doesn't affect your overall time, timer only starts after you start, some people wait a second after it goes green, fantastic video! I was aching afterwards with adrenaline after my first time at pod
You should do more Santa Pod vids, when you test new bikes, it was fun to watch. And next time maybe also show us some of the real drag bikes around there and maybe get those guys' opinion on film!

Brilliant video as always!!! Running a near 10 flat on a stock bike is crazy, the BMW is just ridiculous, a pro stock rider on board would have it in the 9s. Full system, ECU and proper drag suspension (M2 Shock) with a street slick and it would be a high 8s bike. Perfect for dial your own racing or any type of Sportsman racing.
Locally here in Australia, a mate of mine runs 10.1 on a stock 2006 R1. Im amazed how quick it goes.

Just to reiterate, for all of those claiming their 1994 GSX-R did a 9.6s @ 180mph blah blah blah: this is Santa Pod. An uphill rubber track. Previous times go out the window here...

Stock '94 gixxer doing 9.6? I call bs even the 1100 would struggle to go low 10's with the best of riders on the best of track. The only bikes i know of that woulde hit 9's consistently stock is the zx14r and hayabusa.
I just took my '21 Tuono V4 1100 to our Drag Strip Bike Mayhem event, ran a best of 11.3 with a granny start, then we switched to Roll Racing clocking an 8.3 at 141mph down the 1/4. I made it through to the semi-finals with only extended swing arm bikes on slicks left.
The Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory and the BMW S1000 RR. Both bikes already aquired, for "The Ridiculously Expensive Superbike Battle" Job done! I'm really excited, can't wait for Episode 1.
with a pro drag racer and minimal prep, that bmw could be in the high 9's, easily.

Some bikes lend themselves to being better at straight line sprints than others. Another great "TH-cam content producer", Riding With Tom, managed a 10.6 secs on a Yamaha MT-10 SP. Looking forward to your next installment doing what the bikes were designed to do.

I was always a big fan of the Aprilia but it's really starting to show it's age, also in the looks department. I hope Piaggio has sold enough of those weird 3 wheel monstrosities that Aprilia can develop a completely new superbike.

Also I just noticed @13:27 the Aprilia is in "Sport" mode instead of Race.
Sport is very soft, on the road I use "Track" mode

Our local drag strip also runs1/4 mile roll racing, you can cut your ET by 2 t0 3 seconds 'nd increase your mph around +10 compared to a standing quarter Drag Race.
