Got the 2020 Factory as well. I'll see how I like it in a few years' time, but at the moment, I am over the moon with it. It's just so awesome and the sound cannot be beat.
I think your discussion indicates how Aprilia got the RSV4 so right that they haven’t had to do much other than tweek and refine so that it’s still a major force among the Superbikes of today. As you’ve said as well, there are no bad bikes just different flavours.
I must say as an owner of a 2020 BMW s1000rr Msport with stage2 BT moto tune and mods, the bike has plenty or character. The bike is a ruthless killer. Insane power and the lack of weight is confusing. You feel like it should have R6 power, but no, well over 200. It's an insane beast of a machine with the highest level of refinement. She's an absolute savage!!! I feel like it's underrated at this point.
I agree with your verdict... GIVEN the keys, Aprilia every time. If it was my actual money it wouldn't be a straight forward choice. I think I would still go with the Aprilia but I'd be nervous.
It’s a shame Aprillia don’t have such a great dealer network, my nearest is essentially a Piaggio scooter shop and when I enquired about a test ride in 2018 they just shrugged. Both great bikes though!
I have to agree with you about dealers especially with the master cylinder recall on the 2017 Tuono that I owned and a swing arm recall on a V2 Tuono which took nearly a year to source. Love the sound and the bike(s) when "on song" though!
I don't have a official dealer anywhere close but there's a motorcycle shop that's specialized in Italian motorcycles and they are extremely knowledgeable. Maybe you can find something like that.
I think the reason why I’d rather have the liter bike over the 600 doesn’t come down to the power. It cones down to the package. I want auto blipper, I want all of the more advanced electronics and creature comforts of the liter bikes these days but in a 600 package. I wouldn’t mind paying liter bike base package money for a full electronics packaged 600. You guys were spot on about not needing all that power, and you’re correct. The power isn’t the main reason people are buying these things.
Great video Chops (& Greg). You guys are onto a winning format by working together. Brilliant viewing. Looking forward to a lot more content from you two. You just seem to hit the spot on reviewing as genuine bike fans.👌 Cheers from Melbourne.
Having owned a BMW S1000rr and now a 2019 Aprillia Tuono I can say that these comments and statements are spot on. It’s about how the 2 brands go to market. I absolutely loved my BMW it was faultless and was so easy to ride. Makes a crap rider good! However, due to city commuting etc I want a more upright position. The aprillia on the other hand has character the BMW didn’t. But that’s good and bad. But that sound when you twist the throttle makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. So each to the own they are both great bikes.
@@LambChopRides the price of the two bikes was brought up quite a few time's. Do a video of a new bike, half the price and compare that in the same points structure - bet it wouldn't get half the point's = you pay a lot more for marginal gains the closer to the edge you get!!!

Dave I can honestly say mate after riding bikes for years.. That sound is the bomb! And I had an R1 with crossplane crank and it is nothing compared to the Aprillia!
I’ve owned or ridden all the super nakeds and Aprilia Tuono was the best hands down. Power, chassis, ride, feel, fun, sound. Did everything amazingly. Now one I haven’t tried is the new 2020 Super Duke R and I’ve heard they improved the chassis significantly from the previous year which is the one I owned. That was the biggest downfall. And side-note, if you’re getting one of these bikes for the street get the naked version. Not a question.
A little unfair in the scoring. In saying that I agree with 99% of your scores. Scored as a stock bikes: The BMW got penalised for having carbon wheels and the Aprilia got points for the Acro exaust even though they were both stock items. BMW lost points for having BMW branded brakes even though they worked better than the Brembos on the Aprilia. It is amazing what branding can do to your head. @allan in fairness, a Casio watch keeps better time than a Rolex but most people would prefer and find the Rolex more appealing. The same could apply to bikes I guess....?
I don't know about that, a 10 year old RSV4 costs about the same now as a 10 year old S1000RR so I'd say they both have the same sort of "classic potential". Aprilias just aren't Ducatis in that sense, as much as some of their fans would like to think so, as something like a 1198 costs quite a bit more than those other two today, especially if it's one of the higher spec/limited edition ones.

Great review. I've had a M Sport for over a year now. Agree stock its just way to quiet. It sounds like a scooter. Full Akra system fixed that. It also vibrates a lot but a set of bar ends also reduced that by quite a considerable margin but its still there. (I had a Blade before and that was super smooth).
From my perspective, both suppliers have done a really nice job, but with different conceptions. The BMW is designed for road use and frequent race track use. The Aprilia is designed for race track use but can be used on roads either. If you consider that both bikes might be used about 80% in road use, there is a clear winner: The BMW S1000 RR M-Package. @ubu 9 Off course.... cheap plastic like the carbon rims, right? From my perspective you've got something wrong here. Plastic is saving weight compared to metal. Guess what, which bike has only 193 kg? The BMW. So, what's the advantage of the carbon parts of the Aprilia, hmm? And please remind the following: If BMW would choose to enlarge the motor to 1100 ccm like Ducati and Aprilia, the BMW would have 227 HP and 131 Nm of torque and both of the Italian bikes would only see the BMW from behind. It's a choice between the Teutonic quest for engineering perfection and Italian style and panache. Given that I'm very secure in my heterosexuality, I purchased the BMW S1000RR M a year ago. The Italian bling factor doesn't mean as much to me because I care infinitely more about what it does for me vs. others (especially when parked). I now have almost 10,000 miles on it, both street and track. It was exceeded my high expectations. But the RSV4 is a great bike and would have been worth more consideration had I fit on it better. I'm 6'2" with old knees and I just found the Ape a bit too crunchy. The warranty and dealer network of BMW are first class in the US. Finally the BMW electronics (Bluetooth integration, performance metrics app, etc.) are brilliant.

Great stuff as always Chops and Greg!! Closest I can come to this is I've been able to try a '17 S1000RR and a '18 MV Agusta 675 F3. Not common bike here in Alaska I've been lucky. The BMW is the sophisticated German rocket that does everything well and is effortless to go fast on. The MV is the quirky Italian that makes you work for every corner and is almost more fun. Overused phrase for Italian bike but it has soul!!
Carbon wheels = telepathic. Yes, I agree. I have a pair and I just can't believe it. It's impossible to market because you need to try it to realise it.
Great vid. Really enjoyed it. It's the Aprilia all day long for me. It's exotic & got bags of character & I know I'd get a buzz every time I opened the garage. Although the BMW's probably the better bike in a practical sense, it's just a bit souless in comparison imo.
The Ant & Dec of bike reviews 😀 Nicely done chaps 👍 That RSV4 exhaust sound reminds me of my old RC30, must be the gear driven cams. Similar weight also. No rider aids in those days or rider modes. However only had 112 bhp at the crank 😀
I'm surprised LCR does not have an abacus out the back but surely the Bimmer has a calculator feature hidden in that panel lol. Another Ace comparison Gents. Keep em rolling :)
First off what a fantastic review, secondly of the two bikes if the heart ruled the head it would be the Aprilia for sure, plus these rsv4's always seem to be heavily discounted come winter/new year making them real bargains!
All these new super sports bikes and super nakeds are so good compared to the bikes from 10 years ago, you end up picking nits on comparison reviews. Both bikes are brilliant.
Very good review of both bikes... Espacialy for bikers that didn't drive them and wanna buy one. Looking forward to the next comparison between the blade and rsv4...
This is actually exactly what I was looking for because I’m looking at these two bikes right now. I think I found a fix though, I can get my wife the Aprilia RS 660 and get the BMW S1000RR and get a feel for both brands even though it’s not an RSV4.
Been on a Honda since 1992, have owned every FireBlade/CBR since i was 16 ,iam 49!!! Just sold my 2017-SP2 last week for the new FireBlade RR-R-SP incoming November 1st. 0 issues with any of my Honda’s!! But the Ducati V-4R keeps calling my name!!! Especially after owning the StreetFighter V-4S !! Ducati has been flawless!!! Do i go V-4R or FireBlade 🔥🔥
Its hard to beat the S1000RR M. great overall bike for the road, especially if you slap on a full akrapovic. Our dealer here can even remap it - BMW dealer support is second to none. That said, the 2020 RR-R SP is like riding a 600c on steroids and mega fun, but its hard work on my wrists - so yeah, loads of options with various trade offs. Im hitting 50 soon, so want to make the most of this before my back gives in and I end up with a big Africa Twin or GS again!
Nice one Mr C. Both fabulous bikes but being a past owners of a 2nd gen (2005) RSV Factory I would have to take home the RSV4. Whilst I’m sure the BMW is the more practical choice as I’m a weekend rider and garage admirer it’s the Italian stallion everyday👍👍
Great comparison review again Chops, I'd be happy with either of the bike's or both if money was no object. I think it just boils down to personal preference .
My head says BMW, my heart says Aprilla, my wife says 'don't even think about it'!
Hehe so does mine! 😂

Taking the bm for tactful reasons , the aprilia is art.
Great video, Great review lads, really enjoyed it! I have to go with the Aprilia too!!
Chopsy getting us through this Covid mess.... keep up the great content dude!
Thanks Eric 👍
Chops,
We all know you'd take the aprilia!
Thanks Marc 👍
Aprilia all the way for me Sirs!👍🏻For a 20 year old design, it has the best arse out there!
The winner is the one that has the fewest problem and less expense 15yrs down the road
It’s not inconceivable that both these bike will be unusable by then due to environmental concerns and “ green” taxation
There is nothing else that really compares to the feeling an Aprilia offers. Can't put a price on that.
Thanks chops, nice video and I like the format. Volume, need to be a bit more on the same level for the interviews vs helmet mic. Keep them coming!
They are both amazing bikes. Guaranteed to make anyone a appear to be a rock star.
I'm surprised LCR does not have an abacus out the back but surely the Bimmer has a calculator feature hidden in that panel lol. Another Ace comparison Gents. Keep em rolling :)
Great video John. Really enjoy Greg's contribution. Good addition to the channel 👍
Thanks Carey 👍
Only the aprilia look and sound are enough to choose this motorcycle over another Japanese or BMW
First off what a fantastic review, secondly of the two bikes if the heart ruled the head it would be the Aprilia for sure, plus these rsv4's always seem to be heavily discounted come winter/new year making them real bargains!
Thanks Graham 👍👍
All these new super sports bikes and super nakeds are so good compared to the bikes from 10 years ago, you end up picking nits on comparison reviews. Both bikes are brilliant.
No one could have any quibbles if either of these dropped down the chimney by Santa
Very good review of both bikes... Espacialy for bikers that didn't drive them and wanna buy one. Looking forward to the next comparison between the blade and rsv4...
You two are lucky for these opportunities , l like the Italian scooter and the Beemer also that’s a tuff decision for the common man , thanks Chops
Thats RSV4 sounds incredible
This is actually exactly what I was looking for because I’m looking at these two bikes right now. I think I found a fix though, I can get my wife the Aprilia RS 660 and get the BMW S1000RR and get a feel for both brands even though it’s not an RSV4.
Nice one chaps. V4 do sound lush.. 👍👍👍
Good questions Michael... not ridden either yet so cant help! Yet...
Carbon wheels, lithium battery, heated grips , cruise , electronic Suspension, German engineering, class leading dash
Struggling with prices on bikes myself, really taking the fun out of motorcycling it’s making me be practicable!
Good review John, rsv4 would be my choice for a sportsbike and at 17k which a few will be next year it’s not a bad buy
Thanks buddy 👍
what a great video! you guys talking bikes is great entertainment :) please more of this format !
Thanks Phillip will do 👍
All I see is two old men accelerating and braking on a straight road, obviously all that's needed to do a hyper bike review.
As someone who really doesn't like the full plastic fairing type of sportbike due to its genericness, your vids always keep me interested regardless
It's mainly the nice fluidity of commentary Vs banter as well as changing up the format without changing the feel
Editing is always nice too
Thanks Martin appreciated buddy 👍
Ahh, that’s it Chopsy, great review and I like the format with two views.
Great video looking forward to seeing you both doing more videos like this .fantastic to watch stay safe 🇬🇧👍🏻
Hey, good co-host on this one, his input was great!
Yeah I’ve always wanted the rsv4 my bmw fan boy days are dwindling.
Great review of two amazing bikes thanks lads
I like Gregory, but he is a Ducati lover. For the money there is no comparison. Bmw!
£22,400 for the best sound system ever made..... Bargain!!!!
My mt10 would disagree on that one 😉
Which one would you get? 2021 S1KRR or 2021 RSV4?
Great review John n Greg, top team work, on my dream bikes.👍the ape on a street legal can, that just stirs your soul 🤗
Thanks Dave 👍
I swear 🙏 the aprilia for me !!! 💯
Great review. I had a good laugh when it came 2 the scoring👌🤣😁❤️
Would love to see you do a review of the 2024 S1000RR on the road rather than the track.
Great comparison review again Chops, I'd be happy with either of the bike's or both if money was no object. I think it just boils down to personal preference .
Yes absolutely Dean 👍
