"coterminus with its present location in space". Okay, so any amount of time travel puts you in deep space. Good to know. I love how many people tinkering with time and teleportation forget that the planet, solar system, and galaxy are constantly moving through space.
Easiest handwave is that ‘present location’ is relative to Earth, not the universe as a whole. You time travel to wherever *on Earth* you left from, regardless of whether Earth is on the opposite side of the Sun, in another galaxy or whatever.
@@Quasar-fv8to in what area is you degree in physics exactly? Cause last time I checked, "basic logic" doesn't let you derive all physical phenomena. So unless you want to explain why you can't use earth as a reference frame for magic time travel, I'm gonna have to call bs
Why do you believe you know how a machine whose working principles have been redacted into oblivion works? Or, for that matter, the timestream itself. It's higher dimensional movement, not a "forward" and may in fact send you "sideways" to an alternate earth.
Wait, why is XN the preferred option when XZ indicates that humans will colonize another galaxy and live a better life and survive forever? I'd definitely prefer that over total extinction
Short explanation: XZ is a trap. Longer explanation: XZ is the scenario from the SCP-001 “Past and Future” continuity. It’s complicated but, in that scenario, humans descended from an offshoot of a race on another planet. Our ‘offshoot’ was intended to suffer so that the ‘main’ race could have peace and tranquillity. In SCP-001 PaF, the ‘main’ race finds us, wants humanity to come back to them and resume suffering so they can have peace again. XZ is intended to make their world look idyllic to trick us into choosing a future where we are all condemned to suffer for their benefit. I am not doing the explanation justice, BTW. Exploring Series has a good pair of videos breaking down that continuity.
The fact the people from XZ give tours to foundation personal makes me wonder if they are deliberately trying to get the foundation to pick this option. Now it could still be for good reasons but the foundation is suspicious.
This is one of my favourites. The sterile nature of the whole report magnifies the fear factor. But I prefer where in the main article they use the Boston Dynamics photo of the robot dog looking robot. To even fathom the nervous system of a human, trapped inside and flung into an unknown future is carnal and terrifying. Awesome article. I've been reading the SCP foundation since toward the end of the 2nd series. Love it. Edit. I think the foundation was 20 years out... its not More, its 99942 Apophis thats gonna smash us to peices 😂
I know the LFO platform is basically the big dog platform but i still prefer to think they are loading researchers into warhammer dreadnoughts and lobbing them into the future, attempting to change the future through the use of overwhelming force
Wonder what would happen to a person who is just a nervous system is exposed to the cure anything pill... would it regrow a body. Other question would be putting them into the refining scp
So the SCP has a time machine huh. Even more so I think he was either Aristotle or Einstein but one of them had a theory called the pendulum effect. The pendulum effects simply States; if one was to travel into the past or future from their current presence, given it enough time to elapse their bodies would automatically shift right back towards their home time line. Of course giving the scps reputation for screwing with the unknown, it's a good thing they stopped experimenting with this particular SCP.
I had a hunch about the last scenario, so I checked the wiki and it turns out that one is directly linked to Kalinin’s SCP-001 proposal, “Past and Future.” If you heard the last scenario and thought it sounded nice, I would strongly encourage you to read it because… it is not.
The fact that the exact mechanisms are not understood leaves the possibility that the machine could simply be showing them what *it* wants them to see, instead of what will actually happen. So the Foundation could be in the process of being manipulated by an unknown party. Tricking them into bringing about a future they’ll regret.
The only thing missing in these lectures are the extra commentaries given by Dr. Miller. I like the readings and all, but he sounds bored/jaded with what's he's doing.
I've not seen a comment about it but... Are we not gonna discuss the "Past and Future" 001 scenario and why XZ is actually a terrible situation? Or is it just not that well known of a 001? It's still one of my favorite 001s and it's a shame no one's discussing the truth of the ending.
@@chandlerdoeswhatifs9399 It's related to an SCP-001 proposal by the same author called "Past and Future" and I think is directly linked in the actual article for 2003 to further cement it. Long story short. It's a trap. A big one. That utopia *isn't* for the humans on Earth, and the Earth humans would end up suffering their own unique hell for eternity if that timeline was chosen.
Here's a thought about 14:49 XJ - Its the Rapture. Once humans FINALLY learned to more or less be at peace with one another, God/Our Creator/An Unknown Higher Entity 'saved' us only when it recognised we were mature enough as a species to be worthy of being saved.
hard to say, definitely possible it's intended to be that but it could also be related to some other SCP that breached containment in that timeline and either killed or absorbed all life.

This might be the coolest model you’ve ever made. So fucking awesome.
Love ya pumping them out... Well done mate and thanks
A fantastic one! This has to be one of my favorites.
Sounds like doctor bright would fit this scp’s requirements almost perfectly
We cant trust him not to damage the future
Ive listened to this one quiet a few times now, absolutely love everything about it, mixed with the music etc it gives me super chills and fascinates me alot 👌👌👌
TheVolgun is the man.
I drive for work and I can say without any hesitation that Volgun, wrestlingbios , off the shelf reviews and Gman lives get me through some brutal mileage.
Cheers Volgun
These scenarios definitely made my skin crawl. Good stuff.
One of my favorite SCPs - great reading!
The ominous music is truly teeth-gritting
It’s the Phase Distorter from Earthbound. Neat.
I watch these videos every single day. Thank you bud.
There is no absolute reference frame in space...
@@Quasar-fv8to in what area is you degree in physics exactly?
Cause last time I checked, "basic logic" doesn't let you derive all physical phenomena.
So unless you want to explain why you can't use earth as a reference frame for magic time travel, I'm gonna have to call bs
It could be stuck to a strong center of gravity, so the machine also follows earth as well? Idk if that makes more sense though.
Because XN is kinda the default setting, but they also said they’re considering switching their preferred option to XZ
Thank you Volgun, right on my birthday 🎉
Happy b day
Happy birthday Brendan!
happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday
Thank you everybody, I appreciate it, have a great day!
Volgun putting out heaps of content and I love him for it. All 10/10 quality
I'm a simple man. TheVolgun uploads, I like and comment.
That model is cool - it reminds me a bit of the things from the Screamers movies (terrible films, but cool robots).
The people who volunteered: get good pay: 👍
They are turned into robots 😕
Keep it up volgun you’re awesome
Another excellent reading, thank you
Thanks for taking my mind off the chaos of the real world 🌎
after a good long break to start 2022, its time to dive back into SCPs….boy i hope no kind of horrific future event happens cause of this one : D
Or those nervous system monsters.
That’s kind of what’s going on with XZ.
Yup, that's XZ for ya.
scp narration on my birthday, what more could a girl ask for
Here at 8 seconds, let’s fucking go!

New to the whole scp thing and I'm currently thinking about writing my own scps based of most of the mythical objects and creatures in my culture.
Just be careful, if it's too similar to a pre-existing SCP or what you based it off it won't get a spot on the wiki

The only thing missing in these lectures are the extra commentaries given by Dr. Miller.
I like the readings and all, but he sounds bored/jaded with what's he's doing.
We have to cut Dr. Millar some slack. He's also in the middle of a panini.

Are we not gonna discuss the "Past and Future" 001 scenario and why XZ is actually a terrible situation? Or is it just not that well known of a 001? It's still one of my favorite 001s and it's a shame no one's discussing the truth of the ending.
Can you give a tldr explanation of why XZ is a terrible option
@@chandlerdoeswhatifs9399 It's related to an SCP-001 proposal by the same author called "Past and Future" and I think is directly linked in the actual article for 2003 to further cement it.
Long story short. It's a trap. A big one. That utopia *isn't* for the humans on Earth, and the Earth humans would end up suffering their own unique hell for eternity if that timeline was chosen.
@@DjPikaGaming Not eternity, apparently only two weeks.
14:00 we're getting real close to that starting date range
XH sounds a little more familiar than I'm comfortable with when it comes to the current date so far
Thanks for the video!
Man you should do these as a podcast!

“Golly geewhiz do I”
“Preps the tools, let’s make another Dreadnaught”

Hey Volgun, you ever do anything with the 🌙 🌙 🌙 initiative? A lot of real good fiction with those scps. You'll love it!
Just listen to 6500 inevitable from 'the exploring series' and am hoping some three moons initiative focused scp would show up here or there. (Three moons has a small part in the 6500 story but a very large crustacean shaped space cannon.)
@@justinsmith5870 I think I read that... what is 6500? Refresh my memory, there are just so many. You read about the foundation meeting the Faye again up there? Crazy. They were still passed, after death, about the factory.
@@Floyd_McGerkin basically anomalies (magic) begins to die, fade and some cases basically explode so the foundation, in causing the problem, has two choices in fixing it. Both options are observed into the future and have very different results. It involves time travel, multiple dimensions & nexus points and more scp than a d-class can shake a stick at. But without spoilers one ending involves the three moons initiative comes in and motivating the foundation to fix one complication. Via pointing a space cannon at them.
@@justinsmith5870 oh, right. I read that. It was GOOD. Took all 4 paths, used hacking skills to cast the final vote. THAT was interesting! 10/10, would recommend the read!
@@justinsmith5870 you know what else never gets enough scrutiny? The 5th church. So much there, but I do not recognize the bodies in the water (for instance). Lots of parallels to Kurt Longwood high-school too. Great sci-fi going totally unnoticed. It's criminal.
Obviously written by a fluent statistician, kudos!

Outcome XH sounds alot like SCP 3426 whether intentional or not is very cool
*-SCP Designation:-*- SCP-2003: The Utilization of Time Travel to ensure the preferential option for humanity's extinction VIA a Giant Asteroid in roughly 300 years-
*-SCP Designation:-*- SCP-963: A Medallion containing the soul of head researcher Jack Bright, anyone who comes into physical contact with said medallion has their soul overwritten with his own-
