I was playing a grand game where my first Salvo blapped a smolensk, not as good as that but chat was hilarious for the next 30 seconds or so.
Fact of the day: The Elbing has an hp pool of 0,84 Zao's.
And it has about 2 Petros freeboard height

I can land 6 Yamato AP shells and get all bounces on a broadside CV. This game is getting more and more BS as time goes on. Happy for the Vermont, pissed at WG.

They really dont cruisers was always turning broadside to the old german DDs that had 6 inch guns and those have been around how long?
I was expecting the carrier to ricochet or not pen every shot.
It's a Vermont. They shoot Mac trucks for projectiles.
@@troyellis4242 Just as important, the shell arcs mean at that distance mean Vermont can get plunging fire. Try that in a Shiki or a Yamato and the shells will skid.

The kind of ship the Elbing is, we in the United States refer to as a "Destroyer Leader", a designation adopted in 1951. Kind of that half step between proper DDs and proper CLs.
From 1957 to 1975 in the US Navy anything that had the designation DL, DLG or DLGN was referred to as a Frigate.

Elbing torps are area denial torpedoes. You won't score hits, but you can use them to section off areas and force the enemy in showing broadside to your team by them trying to dodge(which is pretty easy). You don't score hits often, but it forces the enemy ships to do things so your guns or your team can deal damage more effectively. If they do hit, they are unlike European torps or the base line German DD torps because they actually do damage(2k more than Z-52, 6k more than Halland). You also have 10 of them(thats 2 more than Z-52), and unlike say a Kleber, you can launch all 10 of them at any given time without having to turn 180 degrees to get the other side off.
That opening clip reminds me of a clip Jingles showed in a very old WoWs video where a Kongo deletes a Bogue from across the map.
If its the same one I am thinking of, that was even better because the ship had disappeared before the shots arrived.

I don't play WoWs but I watch Jingles, after watching numerous videos of frustrated battleship, cruiser, and destroyer captains trying to fend off or sink a carrier it made my Friday morning coffee all that more enjoyable watching the instant deletion of the fun police! Thank you Jingles!

But how often did US soldiers even try to use captured enemy ammunition anyways?
And if you capture a stash of enemy mortar ammo, you probably also captured a few mortars to go with it.
The whole thing doesn't really make sense.
Also, it might in theory work with 81mm and 82mm mortars, but it certainly wouldn't work with 127mm and 130mm artillery shells.
In General the ussr was worried that their huge ammo Stocks, for instance in the GDR, Poland or the Baltic States, could fall into enemy hands. Thats another Reason.
I'd add that the Soviet (now Russian) heavy guns are 152mm (6in) while the US and thus NATO caliber is 155mm (6.1in)
Their heavy mortars are 120mm just as the western counterparts.
Rasmus Kragh-Hansen now i don’t know if it is 100% true but I’ve heard that soviet airdropped APC/mobile mortar 2S9 “Nona” was armed with atypical for the Red Army 120mm gun for a good reason - to use captured munitions while battling behind the enemy frontlines, sounds quite smart I’ll give them that

The term, Jingles, you are looking for is Spähkreuzer. A part of the Project Z program, the “O-Class” was a ship that would be a cruiser with the speed and armor of a destroyer. They were considered “oversized destroyers” and “miniature cruisers” to put perspective on them.

The very first time I took out the US BB Texas, my very first salvo was at a full health Aoba at almost max range running for cover behind an island. The rounds were able to drop in over the island's ridge and it was instant deletion. The replay showed the suddenly appearing wreck skidding to a quick halt.
This Vermont salvo in this video is about a million times more delicious than that. Possibly the most satisfying salvo/deletion I have ever seen. Bravo Zulu.
