@@SeriousKeto I would suggest a "comment manager" - (not you) who can responsibly manage and filter the comments. The comment manager can give you a summary report and lighten your workload. It is wise to add counsel and help so you can concentrate on the skills you have. It is difficult to let go of all areas of a business yet it is necessary to continue to prosper and grow. I would not appreciate a negative person's response to every action I perform in the function of my business. I appreciate your work and skills. I have learned to add MARGIN in my life to reduce stress. You do you. Shalom(Peace)

I'm 72 years old. I feel special when you acknowledge my comment but it's not expected or necessary. I'm not the kid in the classroom waving my hand in the air to get teacher's attention. I understand what you're going through, maybe. I used to cut my kids hair but if I wasn't 'feeling' it, it was a disaster. If the joy is gone...(you fill in the blank)

I remember the first time I saw a sign that said "Stress is caused by giving a F***". I laughed, maybe way too hard. But I found that line stuck with me, popping to the forefront of my mind for weeks.
It slowly sunk into my thick head it was a message for me, personally. I stress myself out, unnecessarily, by giving you-know-what about a lot of things that just don't matter in the scheme of things.
To say that silly line changed my life, is an understatement. I am so much less stressed now, because I don't fret over things I once did.
As to haters... It's pretty arrogant, if you think about it, to think their comments are about you and to take their posts personally. If you followed them around the webs, you would find their hate spewed everywhere. It's who they are. It's what they do. And sorry Steve, but you are not special to them. You are just another bottle set up on a log to take a shot at while they hope to hit a target. Lean and make them miss.
But you ARE special to your loyal followers. Those who appreciate your shared time, energy and knowledge.
Thank you for what you give to the community. Take care of you.

My Momma once told me that people who are rude and disrespectful to others treat themselves no better and that I should give their opinion of me no weight but at the same time I should have empathy for them. The older I get the more I realize how right she was.

Great explanations of everything. I love the idea of reading the comments before your workout. I rarely get perturbed, but when I do, a very brisk walk for a couple miles helps me calm down and get over it. Having a lot of empathy and being a perfectionist can really complicate your life. I try to remember that people like the trolls have no emotional empathy. In the South there's a saying that might help. Just think to yourself...in a Southern accent of course... 'Well bless your heart.' and give their comment the attention it deserves... absolutely none.

    • @SeriousKeto

I've been reading "The Rudest Book Ever" (just one chapter to go). It should be required reading for anyone who creates content or consumes it. It really explains a lot about how people behave, what they believe, how they feel, and why we should question all of that. I'll probably do a review of it over on the LeanBodyMind channel.

    • @sandra.phillips
      @sandra.phillips 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@SeriousKeto Sounds like a good book for everyone... especially for anyone who runs their own business. Working in a movie theater box office in college, I learned not to take customer's reactions personal. It's a difficult thing to remember though. Recently I added to that. When someone that I care about reacts negatively to me, I tend to take it personal. I wondered what did I do wrong. Now I do my best to remember, I'm not the center of the universe. Those people interact with many other people and have their own 'demons' to overcome. That disassociation helps... but I'm a work in progress.

I can fully understand the burnout. I think you need to take more time off from time to time, maybe not a month, but at least a week every 6 weeks which could be in days in the middle or a week all at once. I too was a middle management person who never took time to smell the roses along the way and found that 10 years can go by extremely fast, and you can miss a lot of good times. Most jobs give you 6-8 weeks a year even in non-management positions. You really do a great job, and your commitment is easy to see in all of your work. Remember these quotes. "A great man is hard on himself; a small man is hard on others." "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Enjoy, Good to have you back.

I'm overcoming burnout from teaching pandemic on top of health issues and family loss. People don't realize how stress(from any job) can affect you, or don't empathize with those doing so.
Very well said, I hope you're doing better soon. Do what you need for you!! Take a break when needed for your health.

I heard you Steve. I’ve thinking about you and my other favorite keto channel, both stopped showing at the same time. I was sad bc you two guys are like therapy for me. You know being keto in massive world of none keto people us very hard, we need to support each other and immensely appreciate you putting yourself in the target of public opinion and the very hard hard work than I don’t even imagine producing it.
I have given mind a lot to this putting myself on your shoes and I don’t think I could take the burden. But if this is your real call (you are a great educator) then there is a great opportunity for you to grow…..FORGET about the bullies

I accidentally found you a while back. I love watching your videos. They are informational. I have tried some of your suggestions, I have bought products (creami, air fryer…) I love your story. Please don’t let the negative crowd affect your content. I don’t always get a chance to follow every week, but then I see something pop up and I stop to look. Always fun to watch! And who cares if you don’t post perfectly? There are plenty of people out there that skip. It may be disappointing, if you look forward to that every week, but if you post 3 types of videos, you could do that once a week and just mix it up. The important thing is you will keep posting, if you moderate your self. Anyway, thank you for doing what you do!

Glad you're back. I watch as often as possible, which means sometimes I have to go hunting for your videos - no problem at all. Do them when you want to. I was elated to hear that Eric Westman is going to be at the conference - he is absolutely a DELIGHT to know. One of the most pleasant people I've spent time with (several low carb cruises over the years). My husband and I were assigned to his dinner table on one cruise, so LOTS of casual and fun visiting time! Anyway, his best feature, besides always being pleasant, is that he is very consistent, and he knows his stuff, just like you do. Now I'm going to have to look it up and watch it! Thanks! Glad you are back!

I’m off to make your fabulous granola recipe now…Have a great weekend!

So nice to see you back! I don’t think folks care so much about a strict schedule (podcast Monday, review Wednesday, etc.) Most important is your sanity and that you don’t stop providing the quality content you continue to produce. I really appreciate your quality work, it has helped me greatly. Thank you

Bravo, Steve! You know that you have my full support. It is HARD to let it roll off your back. You KNOW you shouldn't take it personally and mostly you don't... and then it suddenly gets into a chink in your armour and you feel it.

So glad you’re doing a review of “End Your Carb Confusion”. That book saved my husband’s life. I had been doing keto for some time, but my husband could never quite get on board with it until he read that book. That’s the book that made it all click for him.

Here's why you are NECESSARY to us... "nutritional keto-vours" get bored and need to try new things to keep us going. In the beginning it was our entertainment to try which keto pizza dough was the best recipe or keto cookie or keto product. But also YOUR take on it means so much for when we can't spend the time or money on countless tries. Two years in, and we have become loyal to several products through you- which greatly help us stay on track long-term. We use several staple recipes, too! You are inspirational for a few reasons. You're real, sincere, strive for a standard, and you're knowledgeable. I feel I can trust your perspective BECAUSE you care. So just a glad you're back. And thank you again. Everyone needs a vacay.
You are very much a person who has helped my husband and I lose over 200 lbs collectively and keep it off for over a year.
So any haters out there- do better. Go help someone. Use your words to speak life into others. Otherwise... your words are just destructive noise echoing your very need for words of life. Just because you think you know better... doesn't mean that you in fact do, and this is not the right place to "prove" this. Create your own channel. And enjoy controlling that. For now, listen. Observe. Speak/type life.
Bravo Steve for the bravery this takes day in and day out. And bravo for the work you do to make this channel happen!

Steve!! So happy to see you! Glad you had the chance to take a break and recharge…..we all need that sometimes! Give yourself a break with scheduling and what not ! I can only speak for myself, I don’t care what you bring….because it’s all good! Podcast, review, recipe, it’s all good! Funny how you feel like a friend, although we obviously have never met! But, I would keep my eyes open if I’m ever in your neighborhood….it’s only a couple hours away! lol just know you were missed! 🙂❤️
