With respect to insurance, when I became eligible for Medicare, I found that my doctor did not accept advantage plans. I therefore chose a supplement plan. While more expensive, it has the benefit that it doesn’t require a referral for me to see a specialist. I also lucked out when my doctor joined a group practice. If I need an exam for something, I can see a different member of the staff. That usually makes the advance notice requirement pretty short. It remains to be seen whether the added cost of the plan works out to be worth it. Regardless of any other problems, Have a Happy Holiday and a bountiful and peaceful New Year!
I just closed down my low-carb/keto friendly/gluten-free bakery business as well. You are absolutely correct. I lost what little life savings I did have. I feel like such a failure. But maybe down the road I will try something again.❤️
I’m sorry it didn’t turn out of you. It is SO hard to run your own small business. This is why I get frustrated when I get comments whining about the prices of these keto bakeries. They have no clue how expensive it is to produce keto products.
Just ordered 2 fire blankets. Great suggestion! I would also recommend a choke rescue device. Family meeting topic, how to use so you know up front. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you, Terri, and the family!!! Thank you for all you do for us, in the Keto/ Keto ore/Carnivore universe. I have seen the commercials for those fire blankets, and I really would like to get one. One night while my daughter was cooking, there was a fire in the oven she sprayed the fire extinguisher, and the oven glass broke, along with the stuff going everywhere in and out of the oven. The oven was completely unusable, and we had to buy a brand new one. These fire blankets are going to be a godsend.
If you want to try for your finger, you can use aloe vera leave, they heal the skin and also pull out any infection. I don't know if it will help, but it defiantly won't hurt. Very important: do not use small leaves, buy big one, which is usually sold in supermarkets (small ones do not work for infected areas). I cut a small piece, wash it, cut off thorns from sides, slice off flat part of leave's skin to expose flesh, and tape it over area. You have to do it more than once.
With the no surprises act you have a right to know how much something will cost before you have it done. As a medical coder, I get request for codes that will be used for a procedure so patients can call their insurance to see how much will be covered. Anyway, I wish you a very merry Christmas and hope any and all of your celebrations bring you joy!
Hi Steve. Great podcast. Love hearing your Christmas traditions. For us Christmas Eve was always the highlight of the year. Full on Italian meal with ice skating on the lake. We always open presents on Christmas Day. Just our thing. Regarding healthcare? That is the one good thing about turning 65. Medicare plus a supplement and everything is covered. No copays, no need for doctor referrals. None of that. Throughout the 17 months of my husband’s battle with cancer we paid nothing. It was all covered. A real blessing during this awful time. I feel really bad for people younger than 65. I had to pay over 1k a month for halfway decent insurance. It’s terrible. And as you pointed out the wait time to see a specialist is ridiculous! On a lighter note, your menu sounds delicious and the games a lot of fun. Right there with you on the music post 2000. I know hardly any of it. Wishing you, Terry and your family the most wonderful of holidays and a very Merry Christmas!!🎄🎄🎄😊
Merry Christmas Steve! ❤ I'd love to see a recap of your food shenanigans over Christmas but by all means, no pressure! If you're up for it cool, if not, no big deal! Family first, always! ❤
Got one of those fire blankets hanging in my sink cabinet just like yours! I agree on the healthcare issue - there’s nothing else we purchase before we know the cost, it’s just crazy!! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Steve!! 🎄🎁
You are right about healthcare. I’ve worked in healthcare since I was 18 and it has changed so much and not for the better. Just the past couple weeks my husband went to urgent care for an arm injury. They suspected a rotator cuff injury so they referred him to an orthopedic Dr who suspected same diagnosis. They wanted him to have an MRI but when trying to get authorization from his insurance company, they said he has to have 6 weeks of physical therapy before they will consider approving the MRI. It’s such a racket! So my husband doesn’t want to do the physical therapy so we are just stuck. I think it’s totally ridiculous. Anyway, I hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas!!
Enjoy these especial days with your family, this year with a new little baby 😍 , Merry Christmas and thank you for all of your work to make your videos and create this wonderful community. Feliz Navidad from Spain
Steve Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hear you about health care. I live in Salem Oregon. Getting an appointment is at best two months and some six months. I also found out if you are over the age of 80, the insurance will not cover certain procedures. That is crazy.
Love the game ideas...My hubby and I do Christmas alone...I see the grandkids Christmas eve/morning then they are off to the in-laws...we are always invited but my husband doesn't feel confortable...whatever. I am way more socialable then he is. Anyway the song challenges (for me) and the movies for him (he is an idiot savant of movies and actors) would be so fun after dinner. Your dinner sounds lovely. He is off his diet completely for the holidays and requested ham with all sorts of non Keto stuff. Lucky for me the meat and salad will be more then enough after breakfast with the grands. Have a wonderful holiday Steve and thanks for all the joy and information you have provided me this year.
Happy Holidays, Steve 🎄🎁🎉🧸😁 You covered some great topics in this podcast (not that your other podcasts didn’t 😂). I’m sorry to hear your friend is shutting down her bakery. That’s sad, but at least she was able to maintain it for a while. Best of luck to her upcoming endeavors! 🙏🏼 I understand the frustration of the healthcare system you discussed because it was the same when I lived in Colorado and is here in Texas. I love the ideas you have for your holiday celebration! It just so happens my boyfriend and I played the same song games you mentioned on TH-cam and they are a lot of fun! I did better with the older music and him being younger did better with the newer music. Like you, after 2000 I struggled 😂 I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and enjoy your family time. Time slips by too fast to not cherish it 💞
Best wishes to the folks at Fox Hills... mom & pop shops are not easy. Sorry to see them go. God Jul! Merry Christmas! Happy Chanukkah! Happy Kwaanza! Blessed be for the Solstice! Welcome 2025... be kind! 🕊️🎄🥂🕊️
LOVE the shirt. Hubby and I just walked Die Hard as part of our seasonal watchlist. Looking forward to any menu/recipe tips you have. Thanks for the game ideas! Merry Christmas!!!
Whoa....please share the short rib and scallops prep with us. Sounds really good and great for any special occasion. Yeah...the mystery of health care and its insurance, it is so broken in the US. Compounding this mess, add AI to the mix. United HealthCare is currently facing a class action suit for its AI algorithm, via a software product it uses called NH Predict , in the claims denial. (UHC went on to buy the company that developed this) !!Appeal these denials people...there is a high success rate overturning the denial if you can endure the bureaucracy. What's even sadder is this same algorithm is now being deployed by other healthcare companies. Sigh. On a brighter note, I wish you, your family, and the WHOLE Ketoverse a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the coming New Year. Peace
I always got to open one present on Christmas eve. The parents would pick which one though. Usually it was a gag gift or pj's, not the big present that you were dying to open! This year my son and I are going to steak and shrimp for C'mas dinner. Since we don't really do presents anymore, we pretty much just splurge on the dinner now.
Merry Christmas Steve to you and your family! I would probably be the same with the music trivia! I’m 43 and my interest in new music fell off probably somewhere between 2000 and 2010 unless they were already familiar bands! Also I wanted to suggest as we move into the new year a great podcast topic might be updates on how the food industry will likely have to clean up ingredients. Keeping all of us updated and informed on this topic would be wonderful.
I was laughing about that "name that tune/film" game. I played a similar one years ago with some neighbors. When it was my turn, the audio (it was a cassette -- tells you how old it was) said "Name this James Brown song," and all it gave me was one of his opening screeches. That's it. Just a screech. My answer was "all of them?" lol
"Practically Christmas Edition" BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!! The fire blanket is a great idea. I "think" I have one... somewhere. Healthcare, particularly the insurance companies, has become a nightmare. No wonder Luigi took out the CEO of United Healthcare. I'm not condoning, but I'm not condemning the guy either. Presents first, with champagne, then the meal. Your menu sounds delicious! Please post a "Christmas recipes" video!!! Have a wonderful Christmas with your beautiful family.
Thanks, Steve! My family adopted an ‘Apps & Desserts only’ ( i.e. no formal sit down dinner) approach to Xmas last year, and it was HUGE hit…so much so that we’re doing it again this year. Happy holidays to you and the entire family. P.S. Love the shirt! 😂
Merry Christmas and happy holidays 🎅🎄☃️to you and the whole family - have a great time together!! Nice greetings from Germany, Ela 🤗 EDIT: Love your T-Shirt ❤❤❤😂😂😂👍👍👍
Yes, the healthcare industry is a mess, and starts with the cost of medical school, the specialization fields that require you to see 6 different doctors that ignore you as a whole person - instead you have disjointed parts, to the business model of running hospitals, to the insurance industry, and then government interference. I have a recently diagnosed skin condition that is horrid and cannot see a dermatologist until late March. I rarely see my GP, I always get the NP or PA and about 8 minutes of an actual appointment. Christmas - our moms must have been related!!😂 I love games at Christmas. The best to your family - Merry 🎄 Christmas, Steve.
Hoping you have a wonderful Christmas with your lovely wife and family! Looking forward to see what you have for us in 2025! I watched Die Hard last night as my required Christmas Movie this year. Tonight it'll be the more tame movies, but Die Hard always needs to be viewed at least once. It's not Christmas till Hans Gruber is tossed off the Nakatomi Tower!
We are having a standing rib roast for Christmas, first time I have cooked one. Couldn't resist, they were on sale at our Winn Dixie for 6.99/lb! Hope I don't ruin it, using Paula Deen's recipe. Merry Christmas!
would love to see a "Christmas Montage Video" with snippets of food AND games! maybe even a peek at the baby??? perhaps just set to an upbeat christmas song, and add titles of recipe names. No other audio or script needed. I think that would all be very entertaining!
I’m lucky because for a lot of specialists my insurance allows me to self-refer and make appointments. Still takes a long time to get in for the initial but at least it cuts out some of the red tape.
Great video, as always, Steve. Don't even get me started with referrals, appointments, etc. I totally feel you on that one. PLEASE, can you make and/or share that beef short ribs recipe? I am so dying to make short ribs, and wow, they sound delicious and very rich-sounding. My husband and son requested my Chili lol so that's what will be for Christmas Eve with salad and all the fixings Keto style. My daughter and hubby are coming and bringing my grandson so I'm setting out finger food keto as well...I wish you, Terry Colton Courtney, Connor , his wife and Baby and the WHOLE family a BLESSED Christmas and l Iook forward to hearing about it Thank you for all you do Julianna NC
Games ....I grew up with games of all kinds during family gatherings and let me tell you....We were a very competitive group. Looking back it was pretty brutal :D
Doing Tapas is such a great idea as people can graze as they choose. Which brings me to an idea for a keto appetizer. Meatballs came to mind...have you ever used pork rinds instead of bread crumbs? Or do you have a better recommendation. Sea scallops are my absolute favorite seafood and then shrimp...can't get them fresh, well not easily, in Wisconsin and I miss fresh seafood on the east coast of Maine/New Brunswick, Canada. Can't wait to see the creations Steve! Keto on and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
For bread crumbs in meatballs or meat loaf, I do one of the following: - Ground up pork rinds - Wisps parmesan "bread crumbs" - Save the crust ends of any keto bread I review and turn those into bread crumbs - Lupini flakes (more for meatloaf) - or some combination of the above
I need to see an endocrinologist. I called the office my PCP recommended and was told first available Spring 2026! Also, I was gifted beef short ribs and have no idea how to cook them. Hoping you'll share how yours turn out and just a quick synopsis of how you cooked yours ! Merry Christmas to you and all your family ! 🎄🎅
I had a similar experience on my thumb, feeling as if there was glass in it. I used Wart remover treatment. The canister with the liquid nitrogen. About 3 treatments spaced apart. I did then see the root. Followed up with a few of the Wart remover bands aids over the next week. It is gone now...😊
If you have a PPO version of ins you don’t need to get a referral. HMO’s need them but in the majority of cases you don’t. You DO still need to wait for availability but…
Merry Christmas, Steve! 🎄 In other news, if you haven't heard yet, you may want to get up to speed with the latest honey browser add-in concerns with regard to how they handle affiliate links. Those who use your links should probably be made aware.
Regarding the splinter, same thing in my finger but it is a cactus needle. Dermatologist told me something was in there and I remembered the cactus. Anyway, don't know how bad yours is but she told me to soak for 10 min a day twice a day in warm water. Mine came to the surface. I took an exact to break the callous and was able to get it out. I didn't want surgery. My BIL had to have the tip of an agave surgically removed from his hand. His was way worse than mine. PS I didn't have to go for an ultrasound she examined it and said there's something in there
The orthopedic doctor didn’t see anything from the ultrasound and that it’s likely a deep lesion. I’ll definitely keep your suggestion in mind if I have a splinter in the future.

@ Thank you! Kind of you to even reply and thank you for standing up for the little guys! Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄
Starting your own family traditions is so fun….open those presents….play those games….& have a great Christmas holiday with your family. 😊🎅🏻🌲🎅🏻🌲
"Happy Birthday, Jesus!" and Merry Christmas to you and yours! I hope you have a great time with family and friends!
I hope you have a fabulous Holiday Season!
Have a great Christmas Steve and thanks for another year of helpful information and great food ideas!
12:26 I like my music like I like my weather: mid-70s to low-90s. Anything before or after that, I'm fairly clueless.
It makes me feel old when I hear the music I listened to in college being referred to as "classic hits". 😲
@SeriousKeto Same 😔
Just ordered 2 fire blankets. Great suggestion! I would also recommend a choke rescue device. Family meeting topic, how to use so you know up front. Merry Christmas!
I'd love to see how your plans play out. Sounds like a neat way to celebrate. 😊
Merry Christmas from our family to yours! 🎉❤
Best Holiday wishes to you and your loved ones. I bet Colton is pretty excited. Cheers Steve and thanks for a wonderful year.
Thank you for being honest about small business . Before I retired I ran a small business it is hard.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you, Terri, and the family!!!
Thank you for all you do for us, in the Keto/ Keto ore/Carnivore universe.

Those sound like some really fun games.

Merry Christmas!
Toyotathon....🤣 Have a Merry Christmas Steve and family. Enjoy to the max!
Whoa....please share the short rib and scallops prep with us. Sounds really good and great for any special occasion.

This year my son and I are going to steak and shrimp for C'mas dinner. Since we don't really do presents anymore, we pretty much just splurge on the dinner now.
Best wishes for Xmas and the new year to you and your family.

- Ground up pork rinds
- Wisps parmesan "bread crumbs"
- Save the crust ends of any keto bread I review and turn those into bread crumbs
- Lupini flakes (more for meatloaf)
- or some combination of the above
@@SeriousKeto Wow lots of ideas to try!! Thanks Steve!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!! Lol toyotathon😂
Wow. That’s nuts.
I had a similar experience on my thumb, feeling as if there was glass in it. I used Wart remover treatment. The canister with the liquid nitrogen. About 3 treatments spaced apart. I did then see the root. Followed up with a few of the Wart remover bands aids over the next week. It is gone now...😊
Do you recall the brand you used?
@SeriousKeto It was Walmarts Equate Brand. Quick Freeze wart remover. The wart remover pads/ bandages I followed up with were Compound W. Good luck 👍
@ thanks!
If you have a PPO version of ins you don’t need to get a referral. HMO’s need them but in the majority of cases you don’t. You DO still need to wait for availability but…
Merry Christmas, Steve! 🎄
In other news, if you haven't heard yet, you may want to get up to speed with the latest honey browser add-in concerns with regard to how they handle affiliate links. Those who use your links should probably be made aware.
I’ll look into that. Thanks for the heads up.
