Same color but different tone with two different manufacturers 😳 I would end up crying!! Thanks for showing this part of the project!! Please show more!! I love Wolfsburg West!
I'm envious. I have a '63 that's just a little better than this but not by much. I knew I bought it with hopes my dad and I could work on it but I lost him a few years ago. I'm getting the urge to find a way to afford to pay someone to get the body work done. Hopefully something soon can happen. These guys are awesome for fixing this one.

Sorry , I’m not putting 20k into materials into this car . I have a 56 ragtop and a 56 convertible that will break my bank and we’ll as a 59 single cab in the wings . Patina ride , ruff and rusty 👍😎

I’m doing heater channels currently myself, and my door alignment is awful!! The jacking under the dash looks exactly the trick, great help! Larry you the man 👍👍😎

you are so fortunate to live in the USA where cars and replacement parts are reasonably priced. Here in Canada we cannot find any bodies or motors tthat are in good enough shape to rebuild nor any parts stores to sell us replacement parts to use. Love these rebuilds and the way Larry is showing you the proper procedures for each step along the way. Thanks for bringing us along.

That is such deja vu! When I was in college, I bought a '65 that looked almost identical to that. The same blue color and the same patina. Too bad there's no way for me to post a picture in the comments.
Two Generations of VW rescuers here it seems. Love it. It makes me think about the future of our passion. I'm 54- what happens when Gen X fades out? We need Gen Z involved and younger. I don't want to see this hobby and these cars fade in 20 years. We (Gen X and older) have to mentor young people on these cars.
I'm 51, We had a heated floor and pads down but both our backs were fracked after doing the cross member, floor and channel this past sunday ...bring on the next Gen lol
I am in the Larry camp as far as doing it right is concerned, I am a bit of a perfectionist. I also think you should paint it as it will look half finished without paint. Does not have to be a 'show stopper' but look quite good going down the road. That is my opinion of course I am not wanting to upset anyone. At least now the car is braced you know where to put your panels and she will be straight. Looking good Jason even if you feel that not much was done I think you did well. I think i would have a different approach but it is well thought out to get door alignments. I would weld the doors to the quarters with 16 guage angle. And shore up deck lids same way pull body off chassis build chassis completely then fix body off chassis then put them together. There just so many patches, so better access i think. Its hard work actually

No worries. some cars had really large gaps in the backside of the doors anyways. As long as it is pretty even top to bottom that is probably how it was from the factory.
Chase the threads and REWELD THOSE NUTCERTS on the channels.....They ALWAYS break off when you tighten the pans down. terrible welds on those from the factory. I drill next to each and reweld them otherwise it will get you later.
Enough with the vws, and where is the cr125!?? I started that 3 years ago and was also restoring an 83 cr125 and was really enjoying your videos on your restore.
Really enjoyed that! Wish I had a "Larry" to help me learn better skills too. My only negative comment is watching those cheapo floor pans flex like that when you drilled them. But then it isn't my money that needs to be spent to afford the good panels now, is it??? It will certainly be a fun car when done...
Is it possible that the Driver door hinges may also be sprung ? Especially the top (forget the rockers are gone and the wheel wells are not attached 🤣Thanks Larry

Why does the bottom of these cars rot so bad? Did they not put any protection on any of the metal at the bottom of the car?
