Jay, With Larry saying "not Larry approved " on Jenns side of the car, don't want her falling out, make sure you do a great, solid job: otherwise that may cause some serious "domestic tranquility factor issues! 😂.
'Not Larry approved'. The important thing is you are learning though! I should say that my welding skills are limited as well so you have my support the whole way through. Thanks for the update Jason and thanks once again to Larry for his wisdom and letting you use his shop. 👍👍
Jason, you really need to address your Mentor like this; "Sir Lawrence, Please, May I Have Another Sir!!" Respect Jason, respect.....😅🤣😂 Brouhaha-ha. Great video and thanks y'all. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Oh my! Flashing back to me as a kid, doing projects with my Dad! “What do you think?” I’d say, looking for approval. My Dad, like Larry, would look… and slowly shake his head. Larry, like my Dad, has the patience of Job! He actually offered to take over, but allowed you to continue! What a teacher!
I feel your pain with the welding. I am constantly blowing holes in my welds. I have a feeling that your going to hear "Not Larry Approved" on a regular basis. If I was you I would get a t-shirt made up with "Not Larry Approved" (maybe on the front and back?). That way you don't have to hear it all the time and Larry can just point at your t-shirt when he feels your work is not up to his standards 😀. I am really enjoying these videos .Thanks!!!
What a find Larry is for your channel! You should be congratulated on finding him and in helping him do such a good job on cam. Two distinctly different personalities make for great viewing.
It’s a good thing that you have Larry there to make sure you are doing it right! Loving the videos keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing the next episode on the floor pan.
It's great to see more progress! Even though Larry doesn't approve of some of the work, I'm sure it will be decent enough to be safe and better than a lot of the garbage repaires we've all seen other people perform!
You take an old Walmart building and Larry, Mustie1, Jason, and a few more and a volkswagen reassembly plant is born. The blooper reel on this would be hilarious. Not Larry approved. Hmmm. You need bumper stickers with that. " Not Larry approved "
Poor Larry. This must be his penance for bad things he may have done in a previous life 😂😂 However what better teacher could you ask for. The man is a perfectionist and produces excellent work.
I think on a lot the stuff for these cars you could actually MIG Braze the panels instead of MIG Welding them. Mig Brazing is lower temperature so you get less warpage and the bond if very strong.
If your mentor isn’t breaking your balls hard the whole time, are you really even learning anything? 😂 You’re fortunate to have a Larry. Great video, guys.
IM pretty sure the inner panel was never welded from the factory. just the edge around then the inner panel was made to strengthen the section. there is a place to weld it from near where the running board mounts.
gr8 video series you guys are doing! Im pretty surprised about welding the inner A-Pillar to the heaterchannel, never heard about it in my 15 yrs doing vw bugs or had any being attached when removing the old ones. is that factory? Either way, it's a really good idea! makes me kind of worried, I have not done that on any of my bugs :O
Larry says the inner A pillar is not welded from the factory as you have no access to it. He does it to add strength , especially on a rusty car....only if u have access. He says you did just fine, all is good .

I like how honest Larry is. It how you learn to do right.
"But Larry, the first third is attached." - long pause - "Hang on" Haha great video. The car was a noodle and you're stitching it back together.
Larry is a great guy..it's hard to weld. Especially when a parking break is in your stomach...B+
👍....or the chassis bars , I'll take the B+, thank you

Never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it twice! :~D Love this project.

Larry reminds me of my father.
Jay is lucky to have Larry to guide him, we all benefit from your learning! Thanks to both of you. When do we see and update on Larry’s 57?

Hell yeah Rad Dude!!
Damn J, you didn't have your head into the work man. That was kind of painful to watch my man. Com on you can do this !!!
It’s a good thing that you have Larry there to make sure you are doing it right! Loving the videos keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing the next episode on the floor pan.

You can sense the pain in Larry when he looks at Jason's welds! 🤣🤣🤣#NotLarryApproved
😆🤣😂😭
How do you weld the inner if the outer is not rotted?
Being good at grinding is as important at being good at welding 😂
I absolutely concur. I have laid a hundred great beads just above or below the apex of the angle that didn't connect anything.
Time for tea in England but you Americans call it dinner
gr8 video series you guys are doing!
