    Another great video for all auto technicians ... where electric meets with electronic ... don't you have any cases not with happy ending ... you should have some , but its natural that you release the ones that are succesfully repaired , thanks for sharing ,

    for chips like this you can use chip quick or higher leaded solder to dilute the solder,
    the chip will flow with alot less heat, rather than wicking it off add more lead!
    great video though, love them as always, thanks for sharing!
    EDIT: forgot to add, wick old mixed solder after and apply new

      One simple technique is to use the "spare" pins!
      Pretty much all ecu's, have spare pins who have not been used at the factory.
      So jumping to them and exchange the wire placement on the plug. Can save the day, with a little bit less effort and less soldering. ;-)
      With this said just make sure the "spare" is not broken or corroded as the one causing the issue.
      This basic technique saved me a few times! Particularly now that my eyes are not as sharp as they used to be. It's a very welcomed detail. My 2 cents. Cheers

      Hi
      Not sure what have you tried...
      But, I would start by checking wiring, measurements at the ecu plug, you can inject a signal on the signal wire and see on live data what the ecu reads... if you have a reading, would probably mean there is nothing wrong with the ecu... you might just have a bad air flow meter...

      Double check the part numbers... a different part number does not necessarily means is not compatible... it just means is a different version but fully compatible...
      Do some research... I sometimes ask the dealers for help, by phone and ask if a certain part number is compatible...
      The will obviously not start due to the immobiliser... you need to transfer the data from your actual ecu into the replacement...

      Which car are we talking about?

    • @user-sm8wo3dj5z
      @user-sm8wo3dj5z 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      2001 w203 2.2 cdi. i am thinking about grounding the wire coming from the ecu and see if the alternator charges, i am still not sure if my regulator is bad now. this all happened maybe because of putting the battery on backwards. it wanst me doing it and ever since i have been having red battery visit workshop messages but charging, changed regulator=same result. To the point that now its charging 1 or 2 volts max ( it means no effective charge anyways), it wont go past 12 volts to the battery when at first error time i could get 14.5. So i am not sure if the computer got fried, if any wire may be broken or simply the regulator or diodes are bad. I do not get alternate current back but i havent tested with a scope. I saw scannerdanner grounding the wire that the ecu is supposed to send a pulse or intermitent ground shunt, can i do that on a bench to test my alternator spinning at around 800 rpm and conected to a battery? this would rule out if the alternator was bad if it produced around 14,4 dc volts right..? ive always worked on cars but these computorized stuff is time wasting sometimes even the dealer wont fix it. But of course you know that too. hope you can give me some hint or opinion, thanks

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jose Ferreira
      Ok...
      You can obviously test it on the bench, but should be no different on the car...
      If the alternator is good, it should generate current providing all the connections are good...
      On top of the 12v cable, the one that charges the battery, you should have some more thin ones, depending on the alternator, you have a sense wiring that also connect to the 12v, that feedbacks the battery voltage and tells the alternator to increase or decrease the charging voltage...
      There might be more wires, depending on the system... without looking at some diagrams is hard to tell...
      The battery being connected backwards is obviously not good... I supposed you have checked all the fuses etc?...

    • @user-sm8wo3dj5z
      @user-sm8wo3dj5z 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lmsvvavr yes all checked. My alternator is a 190amp delphi watercooled. Has the battery big cable and a plug with 2 wires. L and DFM. Its not easy to access the plug but i will try to plug some extension cables to test if the ecu is sending sinal and also if the alternator generates power by earthing the DFM entry
