Great video guys. Well put together. Brings back many memories, including turning down a lovely supersport targa at £8k because it had had a front wing repair and one small rust spot! Another one of my ‘If I’d only known’ car buying moments!
Interesting how the steering wheel in Damian’s 911 changed from the beginning of the video to the end. Guessing he left the auction 911 at the shop and took a different one.
Late to this video, but it's a great one. The oil level guage is only readable at idle on level ground, as I recall. Remember a dealer telling me how it confused almost everyone. Had so many great drives in a 1984 Carrera coupe. Manual steering, heavy hinged pedals, bad Blaupunkt radio and A/C, serious lift-off oversteer, no cup holders (a good thing). It really was special and so visceral. Love these cars!
TheCarGuys.TV would like one myself, just wish it was 5 years ago (when they where more affordable) before I learnt to appreciate you don't need a bazillion horsepower.
Damian: On your porshe, if your oil pump is good. I think you need an oil pressure sending unit..and check the wires to that unit( oil pressure sending unit)..
Don't panic - they are worth so much now it's worth paying to get everything fixed - Autofarm are good (pricey but good). I take my Cayman to Brookspeed in Eastleigh - VERY good and good value.
This is the first time I have ever looked at a 911 Targa (of any generation) with desire rather than disdain. What a beauty! I think it is those gorgeous wide hips and unbelievable paint.
@TheCarGuysTV lol early bird gets the worm 🪱. Good reply. Take it you preferred the original one just even though the other wasn't the worse. Has Jason still his 911 I haven't heard or seen it on the channel. Thanks for getting back you legend! 🙏
@TheCarGuysTV Good morning my friend yeah your super sport was sick and a rare car especially in targa configuration! But sure you've got the t shirt and now your 993 and GT3 which is a tasty balance! Stay cool my friend and looking forward to your video this evening. Have a great day Rockstar!! 🤙
Great channel Damian and Jason, would be interesting to know how much they pay for these pleasures,i bet they weren't cheap, even if Damian is a millionaire.
Thanks, Chris. There are no cheap 911s any more - the days of the £30k ones are long gone. For a good low mileage late Eighties 3.2 figure £65-85k. Decent Targa SSEs are £70-£75k.
I've been in a couple earlier ones and the interiors were awfully austere, even cheap looking. later cars with leather seats look a lot better. Contemporary Ferrari interiors look a lot more special, have higher quality leather, but don't wear as well.
Hello guys! I’ve noticed on the video that the targa has a different steering wheel for one clip and another one on the other part of the video?... what’s up with that?
explain me this obi one ken-obi - how in 4:44 to 4:46 you have a modern steering wheel for that period car then like magic..., 13:03 the steering wheel reverts back to OLD SCHOOL? hmm black magic, Different car? anyone, Ferris, Ferris Bueller?
Woah you replied!!! i know its not my money and i shouldn't ask but, any chance you could do a cheap 80s - 90s hot hatch vid? $5000 budget, then go on a crazy road trip? it would be pretty epic, but i love your content, keep doing what your doing!
Imagine beeing so filthy rich with your mate so one day you just get up and go buy a classic 911, each, just for shits and giggles. What I and my mate doing wrong?🤔
hahaha anyways enjoy them guys. I live vicariously through your vids. I love Porsches with all my heart since I was a kid and I will never lose hope of owning one ..or a few.
Totally. I’ve got a ten year old Porsche and drive the wheels off it, rain, snow, sun. Use it to go to the shops, the rubbish dump, I’ve taken it to the beach and parked it on the beach itself (sprayed it down after). I want a GT4 but no way could ever afford one. If I could I’d drive it exactly the same!
Such a shame these cars have turned out the way they have. They’re not “car guy” cars anymore, or sports cars that can do everything. They’re purely financial investments for middle aged men to invest their life savings or their inheritance into. Nothing more, nothing less.
TheCarGuys.TV They’re not going to drop in value, you’ll either get your money back or they’ll appreciate. Spending £40k on a 911 is definitely an investment.

Just an Fyi: Targa has a Turbo wing, coupe has a Carrera wing 👍
That’s what I live about Porsche people - attention to detail
I owned a 1985 Targa Super Sport.I had it for 6 years with no problems at all.A very reliable every day driver. 👍
Interesting how the steering wheel in Damian’s 911 changed from the beginning of the video to the end. Guessing he left the auction 911 at the shop and took a different one.
slight notchiness into second is probably the understatement of the day.

In this case the oil level dial was faulty.
Really enjoyed this video, came here from STG. Hooked already. Love classic 911's, shame they have shot up in price so much!
Thanks, Jack. We’re really big into air-cooled 911s at the moment and so this is just the beginning.
Nice video! Damian, your steering wheel changed midway through!! 😬😂😂
The period wheel suits much better however, lovely bit of kit overall!
Horsepower Hub Ha - I knew it’d be you that noticed. Got a new steering wheel while we were there at Paul Stephens
TheCarGuys.TV It does look a lot better I must say. 2 awesome cars, and love the colour on Jason’s!
@@TheCarGuysTV i actually love the 3 spoke wheel you started with in the Targa! I prefer that to the 4 spoke wheel. Both stunning 911s!!
Lovely targa. The nicest 911 of its day. 👍
Brilliant, lovely to see two beauties 🏁
Is super sport the euro name for turbo look and the m491 package?
I love those beautiful automobiles.
No arguments
Proper drivers cars with that proper 'steering feel' you can see why these are on the up.
Absolutely, though I get the sense prices are softening now - so more people can afford to get one
TheCarGuys.TV would like one myself, just wish it was 5 years ago (when they where more affordable) before I learnt to appreciate you don't need a bazillion horsepower.
great to have a 911...…...you have well over a million other 911 owners as mates!
Very true
G00D Afternoon from Auckland, New Zealand it’s Saturday, May 16, 2020.
If I had either of these cars, I'd only ever play - and allow anyone else to play - synthwave music it.
Very well done!
Great video guys, hillarious! What beauties they are, real great finds too!
wow, pretty much nothing else one can say. Great spec, and the targa, great shape!
Totally agree - as soon as I saw that black Targa and it’s low profile - I had to have it
Damian:
On your porshe, if your oil pump is good. I think you need an oil pressure sending unit..and check the wires to that unit( oil pressure sending unit)..
The format of this video is amazing. Would love to see more stuff like this and more content on these cars
Glad you liked it - we’ll see what we can do
Wonderful both ❤️❤️
That Targa needs about 10k spending on it.. I know, I had 4 3.2 carreras.. lol
Gulp

kram namwen great tip, thanks
Just great looking cars!!!
Yes indeed!
Love this, driving around my neck of the woods in your lovely 911’s as I do in mine

Thanks, Arnold - that means a lot
Wow superrr car
Moments like this and we can sense you ARE .....Car Guys.
Thanks, Mark
:) super stuff guys! Good to see you having fun.
Haha awesome, reminds me of an old 80s movie where 2 guys go and buy 911s with stolen money.
Nice specs, both of them. Is it feasible to daily one of these?
Absolutely it is, in fact they much prefer it. Jason is daily driving the Targa at this very moment
Jason wins!
That's a nice car
Finchingfield lol
I spent a day with Roger Odell ( drummer of Shakatak) and his lotus Esprit Turbo back in 1983 at that beautiful village
Have you got any photos of that great day?
@@TheCarGuysTV funny enough I was only looking at them the other day 😁
Yes I have a few 👍
Love to see them. Damian@thecarguys.tv
@@TheCarGuysTV OK Damian, I'll try to get them over to you 👍
Lovely cars
So what is the deal with the changing steering wheel on the targa ?
What do you think?
I don’t know , that’s why I asked
3.2 a great engine & sound!!!!!!!
Hi car guys, which auction was this car bought from?
My dream cars. Loved the video and one day I will hopefully own one :-)
Keep focused on your goals and it WILL happen my friend
This is the first time I have ever looked at a 911 Targa (of any generation) with desire rather than disdain. What a beauty! I think it is those gorgeous wide hips and unbelievable paint.
Excellent - we’re glad to have converted you, Dylan
Love those cars
Love that marine blue
Just watching an old video of Jason and yours new Porsches. What happened with your steering wheel?
I changed it
@TheCarGuysTV lol early bird gets the worm 🪱. Good reply. Take it you preferred the original one just even though the other wasn't the worse. Has Jason still his 911 I haven't heard or seen it on the channel.

@@jonathangalloway6796 Morning, Jonathan. I preferred the original wheel. We both sold our cars to fund other projects.
That Supersports Targa though…

Targa for sale so soon?
Now sold to make way for the Turbo

Bad sign about the oil gauge fluttering. You’d best not keep driving it it until you verify that the oil pressure is not actually fluctuating
Rod Graff that’s what 911 oil gauges do
If you like A/C. 911s maybe you will enjoy ours !!!😎😎😎😎😎 thoughts ? th-cam.com/video/Q7H6T2FWPZA/w-d-xo.html
Hello guys! I’ve noticed on the video that the targa has a different steering wheel for one clip and another one on the other part of the video?... what’s up with that?
I hated the non-standard wheel on the Targa, so it was changed immediately.
Feresten, Seinfeld and the real Zuckerman do help air cooled residuals, but as per Zuckerman, u need "da money".
Yes they do
93455Driver does Feresten have a 991.2 GT3 Touring?
I am jealous

wow can't wait!
Kinda stole his thunder there...
The steering wheel changed
I had an 88 3.2 agreed it’s not really a fast car .
that ain't a turbo wing.....lol beautiful cars otherwise:)
Congrats!!!
4.50 not set up at all ;-) oh, and what's with the steering wheel?
I could not stand the one that it came with - had to be changed immediately.

We invented Gaffer Tape 😀
hahaha anyways enjoy them guys. I live vicariously through your vids. I love Porsches with all my heart since I was a kid and I will never lose hope of owning one ..or a few.
If you’re going to have a steering wheel change mid video - I’d tell your audience about it.
I honestly didn't think anyone would be interested.
I think the online car community can be quite pedantic about things like that. Either way well done with your consistent and quality videos.
@@liquidgroove i agree. As the overwhelming number of disgruntled comments from the pernickity online car community clearly demonstrates
17000 miles? I want to slap the owner for wasting that car
