I know, everything gives off that direct to DVD Disney sequel vibe. In fact, the composer of this film, David Metzger, wrote the songs and composed the scores for some direct to DVD Disney sequels. And really shows in the " unfinished product." Here's what I say, never let Disney sequel writers and pop singers with no Broadway or musical theater background write the right songs for a Disney animated feature ever again. Songs are awful here. Also, King Magnifico's villain song is both underwhelming and barely a song.
So, Asha is the villain and King Magnifico is the hero trying to keep everything together? It sounds like the writers didn’t learn from Bruce Nolan about everyone getting everything they pray (or wish) for.
The two are not mutually exclusive. Films are made to be enjoyed. If you gain enjoyment from a film being “perfect” and criticising faults, so be it. If you gain enjoyment from themes and music and jokes, irrespective of other issues, so be it. Grace may be the latter, as am I 🤷🏻

Why isn't Magnifico Ahsa's Grandfathers brother and then hoarding everyone's wishes at 18 keeps him young. Her dilemma can be between the two father figures and deciding if wishes should be kept safe or lived out. She can go around helping everyone's wish come true till it destabilise Magnifico's kingdom.
