That line into T1 looks familar :). Not what I expected for the new RE-71RS with its plush feeling. The outgoing tire was very precise with stiff sidewalls and progressive slip at the cost of wear. Closest to outgoing tire was Falken RT660's in slip, AO52 in grip. Did the tire give you good road feedback, the AO52 is too vague for me.
I feel like the response is closer to A052 than RS4 for example, my driving style doesn't depend on much road feedback through the wheel but the 71RS aren't completely numb, the sidewalls are soft but don't deflect a whole lot. I still want some more testing time to feel them out so I may put these (and more) notes in the next video.
Great driving Gabe! Your T1 entry is impressive and overall just very precise. Don’t see a whole lot more in the car. Now just need to decide if I should try these on the street car
I'm honored to hear that from you! I did just start trying the T1 3cone to apex line so I think I can brake less still and carry upwards of 65mph up T2 if I get over the fear. I think the 71RS are one of the softest 200TW I've seen so far, very interesting feeling.
@@NUAgeMotoring yeah it sounds like they don't have the great character of the older RE71R which makes me a bit sad though. Feeling wise, I think the AD08R and RE11s were some of the greats. Still kinda holding out for the AD09s, should be here soon-ish I hope.
Thanks for the informative video! and great driving, nice job running down the C8 vette. pretty impressive to find a Super-200TW tire that will hang in for 20 minutes without melting. How have your lap times at compared to A052, RS4, RT660, V730, etc? I am currently running the V730 for autocross and time attack and am trying to decide what's next.
Thanks for watching, I would not use RE71RS/A052 tires for more than 10min max on track at a time since the compound will overheat past their optimal temp and just wear faster. I have videos running A052 (issue 12) and V730 (mini issue between 15 and 16). If you mainly drive short sprint-type races (autoX, TA) I would keep using V730 or try RE71RS/A052 for a softer compound.
so no go for 20 min hpde sessions on the 71rs? v730 seems like a great contender and .5 / lap slower? been running z2 star specs for a long time, i need to upgrade. still running consistant lap times. weird. the v730 is so cheap.
In 225/45/17, full sessions felt like 71RS overheat by lap 6 but in 245/40 it felt fine for a full session. YMMV depending on car weight/tire size. V730 are great value tires but only downside is low wet traction, 71RS with some tread depth left can handle wet pretty decently.
HA!! I saw you out there on 8/31. I just finished my RE71R and was shopping for new tires when I came across your review.

So lap times you’ve recorded are similar? Dry time wise
@@Lateapexreviews I haven't tried V730 in 245/40 but while I think the lap times are similar the compound is very different.
Would you say they like higher tire pressures like the AO52?
Does the car have enough to do T11 in 3rd and save you the gear shift down that short straight to 12?
I'll give that a try and see if it's faster!
man how are you so stable thurn 2 going into turn 3
Lots of practice! My consistency there is also my achilles' heel since I find it hard to increase speed while keeping that stability.
🔥
what was feedback on this tires are they better thn rt660 and ao52!?
Where are you getting all these tires from?
Usually tirerack
