    Funny thing that happened: I tried going into turn one the way you did in the s2000 in my car and ended up exceeding the track limit. One of the SCCA organizers appeared to be pretty upset. I was okay with the learning experience and not rattled at all. I lost a skidplate and had a red-faced guy practically yelling at me and when he asked me how fast I was going, I don't think he liked it when I smiled and said, "Almost 140 mhp." He told me by downshifting and doing that, I upset the balance of the car. To be clear, you did say most cars have a legitimate braking zone and it was totally my fault and a fun learning experience.

    SICK!!! Amazing! Passin' that Porsche with better driving skills was nutty! I got a wrx, goin to the Ridge soon, so I figured I'd download the map for asseto corrsa, and watch some tutorials first. I'm new to the racing scene. This was CRAZY COOL! Nice job teachin' and even better driving. 200HP , I got over 350 and you'd smoke me. I'm meeting a friend who has m3, stock. He says since he's got more ponies, he's gonna smoke me. No question you'd destroy us both. You made me realize today that it is true, "It's the driver" Nice job! Thanks for the lesson and motivation

    Great commentary and explanation! Last year was my first year tracking my twin turbo V Series Caddy and I was in the teens. Through some coaching and lots of practice I am now down at 2:02. I know this car should be sub 2 all day long. Watching this video really helped me figure out some areas of the track where I can improve. Once I find my fastest line I need to learn consistency in it. Super helpful...this vids a keeper to watch before the next track day! Hope to see you there

I had been coming from tighter lines and kink turns, and the recommendations could ease out some of those entries. I will try to work on those to compare in my car. Super appreciate sharing this!!

    I have about 25 (20 min) sessions at the Ridge. Your explanation of the entrance and exit points are really spot on, in my opinion. Since I have a much more powerful car, I have to find a really good balance of braking, balancing and throttle to maximize the cornering. Thank you for posting this as it was enlightening.

      @@karltaht2370 I'm afraid I'm no expert, but a few differences I notice are:
      - For best times, you gotta do T1 at very high speed, but braking upsets the car, and makes it hard to land in right spot before T2.
      - I'm not sure about T8A/B; it's a tough call.
      - T10 looked more like a straight shot on your video, but at 110+ MPH, it feels that making a soft "arc" (slight right all the way) generates best times.
      Again, just my 2 cents. I'll definitely try a few things on corkscrew and will check on caroussel after this video : ))

    Great video! I noticed at least 4 sections I could improve on based on your guidance. Currently Running 1.54.1 in my 997.2 GT3 RS with Goodyear SC3s. Curious for a car with more horsepower would you approach any sections differently?

    • @karltaht2370
      @karltaht2370  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The turn 6 line is usually different in a higher HP car since you have a longer braking zone. Instead of a double apex, you can try the wide line.
      Turn 8a/8b you can slow down more for 8a and gain it back on exit with power.
      Those are the biggest differences w/ power. There are minor adjustments in other places, but less significant.

    Hey Karl, this and your more recent record video with the turbo are great. Do you have a mod list for the car somewhere? I'm in an STR prepped S2000, so basically 255 square, full suspension, intake, exhaust. Based on your G's in the fast corners I'm assuming you have some serious aero as well? What tires? Just trying to get a sense of how yours likely behaves differently from mine. Just got back from my first time at the Ridge since 2019 (3rd overall) - did a 1:54.3 with an optimal in the high 1:53s, but there's more to be had for sure.

    • @karltaht2370
      @karltaht2370  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      53-54 seems very quick for a no-aero / STR prepped car.
      My car had medium aero (decent splitter + Zebulon 13" chord wing) and is ~2700 w/ driver which also helps quite a bit.

    • @nathanstretch
      @nathanstretch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karltaht2370 nice, yeah, mine's more like 2900 with driver. Felt like I was getting most out of it in a lot of places, but I know I can carry a bit more through 1, and after watching your stuff I've got to get back and try aiming more to the right at the entrances to the thumb and the circle at the end to get better angles out. I think probably a high 52 would be possible with my setup with a perfect lap. At least a low 53. Many thanks for posting these.
