    This video is very timely, because we were just discussing our trips for 2024 and we want to drive all the way up from S. Florida to Maine. I'm saving this video for future reference and thanks for sharing!

    Having vacationed in Maine since about 1974 and having worked in the Saco/Biddeford area for a couple years in the '80s love this Downeast area. We still try to make a pilgrimage every year or so but did sell our 5er last year so need to AirBnb now. Planning on 2024 now. What you forgot to mention is that traffic and wandering tourists can be a major problem between mid June and Labor Day so reservations are an absolute must. Acadia Nat Park can also be a traffic challenge but the rest of Mt Deset Island is almost as interesting though parking in Bar Harbor isn't fun if your RV tow vehicle is F350.C3500 etc

    When you're young, all you need for travel is a backpack and a thumb. When you get old, you have to get a giant, wasteful truck and use it to drag a small hotel around with you everywhere. hahaha

    Good to know. I’m in Nova Scotia. I’m heading to New York State in August to meet up with friends. It will be great to see if any of those campgrounds are convenient to my route.

    There are MANY more places to see that are more impressive, in Darmiscotta there is Coopers Red Barn which is an incredible "Downeast" experience. Make sure to say hello to the General!! What about Pemiquid Point? There is no better lighthouse in the entire coast!! My point is that Maine is amazing and this is a VERY small exposure to the experience!

    I have a question on your easy start on your roof. We installed one and we went to camp out in a forest the elevation wasn’t that high . The fan would turn on but then when we set it on cool, the compressor wouldn’t turn on and shut off the generator. Why is this happening? Does altitude matter?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure why it would not kick on. We have not camped at high elevations since we installed ours. You may want to reach out to the company to see what they say.

      @@TravelswithDelaney If you do happen to camp at a high elevation some day try it out.

    My wife and I are planning a trip up the Maine coast so this is perfect timing, thanks! A question: what do you do with your dog when a restaurant doesn't allow them? For instance Cabbage Island doesn't allow pets. If you leave them in the trailer, how do you get comfortable leaving them alone?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do leave them in the trailer. We use a Waggle to give us peace of mind. It sends us alerts if the power goes out or if the temperature exceeds your predetermined limits. We crate our fur babies and run the AC on continuous so the fan is on all the time. We turn on the radio, leave on 1 light and close all the blinds. They actually look forward to their nap time in their crate. Here is the link to our Waggle review video: th-cam.com/video/zj-aYVolTTw/w-d-xo.html

      Maybe you could teach your "pet" that it is ok to be left at home and that you'll return. Really?? a dog at a restaurant?

    • @HerndonDave
      @HerndonDave 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravelswithDelaney thanks so much! I'll look up that device. Was also thinking about a webcam. It would be very reassuring, to my wife especially, if we could peek in on them

      @@doug590 Many restaurants offer pet friendly dining on outdoor patios. Bring Fido is a great app to find them.
