    If you need groceries, there is a supermarket in Bar Harbor that has normal pricing. The only other reasonably priced store on the island is in Southwest Harbor. Bar Harbor is always crowded in the summer and gets particularly bad on rainy days. The RV sites at the Seawall campground are nicer, but it is farther from the most popular parts of the park. You can walk to the ocean from the RV sites in Seawall in 10 minutes. The drive up Cadillac mountain is only about 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor. Of course I live on the island and know how to avoid the worst of the traffic.

      We also made a vlog about Geddy’s, a great restaurant right in the heart of Bar Harbor. Bethany was our server, and she was terrific.

Go to chases restaurant for best food 34 years ago I washed dishes there and worked with the the lady that now owns it best seafood the fisherman have hung out there all my life and I'm 50. Heading to Blackwoods next week. The boat story reminded me to bring Dramamine. I don’t think you mentioned when you guys were there. Shortly before you posted the video? Mid-August? We are hoping the crowds will be less during our 4 day visit arriving early next week. Thanks for the video. Thank you for your service.

      We were there in late July. Yes, please bring Dramamine! We spent the entire day on the ‘fantail’ of the ship. Try Geddy’s!

    Lol, this video cracks me up. It's like here meet the complaining family and listen to all the places they had to go and things they had to do when they were sick and hungover and tired. This makes me feel so much better about my life. 😂

      @@filosofotacio8950 Thank you for watching the over 300 vlogs on our channel and seeing our family-with-autism grow for the last four years. No, we don’t focus on tougher days so much - we’d rather inspire other families with autism to have their own adventures instead. Our hope is that if just one family “does something different” to enrich the life of their special-needs child, then it was all worth it.

    I'm traveling from the Midwest to Acadia this summer- I don't think my husband and I will make it for sunrise considering travel time and the sunrise right before the summer solstice and jet lag 😂

    You said to make sure you are within the height requirements due to old rock bridges and such. Rec.gov says 11' clearance. My TT is 11'3". Am I screwed?

      I can’t remember exactly, but I do remember seeing how low the bridge was once we had detached from the camper. I definitely be ready to deflate your tires, worst case.

    Hi, I was interested in finding out the simple cheat you used to provide more opportunities to secure a site at Blackwood’s, please?

    • @PickingUpthePiecesofUs
      @PickingUpthePiecesofUs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Recreation.gov has a flaw in their reservation system that encourages people to cheat. We noticed that EVERY site would go within seconds when the site would open. It didn’t seem possible. We theorized that people were booking for whole two-week periods with their end date being accurate, but their start date ahead of their actual arrival. This bought them extra time to try and reserve a site. Once their actual start date became available, they would edit their reservation to that date, leaving a gap of dates no one else would even know had become available after the fact. Pretty selfish, but likely the only way to compete for a site there.
      There are a ton of sites off the island, which have much better amenities, like power, water, and provisions - but you have to drive in through Bar Harbor to get to Acadia every morning.

      @@PickingUpthePiecesofUs You don't have to drive into Bar Harbor. If you are coming from off island, drive to Somesville on route 102, then left onto 3 at the stop light then left again onto route 233. You will get to a park entrance to go up Cadillac, onto the Park Loop road or to Jordon Pond just past Eagle Lake and about 100 yards after you go under the stone bridge.
