Any tips for note accuracy playing those fast passages like flight of the bumblebee? I can play at decent speeds doing something like an improv jazz solo on bone/trumpet where it’s all off the top of the head but when playing off a written passage I tend to miss/smear lot of the in between notes runs and things like that.

Hello! Congratulations, I’m sure they’re great. Auditioning for the blue devils can be quite the challenge for someone who has never marched or has experience marching in an outside marching band. A lot of what we do at the blue devils isn’t taught, the staff expects performs to already have a strong fundamental knowledge of what we are doing in order to achieve at such a high level. Of course it is unquestionable that the staff at blue devils teaches at a high level however they don’t teach much fundamentals. As it’s expected, being a member of the blue devils that you already know and have a good foundation and fundamental knowledge of what you are doing. Auditioning for experience is never a bad thing, so I encourage it!
Not trying to ruin your dream but almost nobody makes BD without some form of world class experience. I'd suggest you go for a group that places 10th or below. If you are just learning bari, you're going to need a summer or 2 before you try out for BD.

Think of the slide positions as fingerings on baritone, it makes the transition process a lot easier in terms of playing. As for marching with a baritone or euphonium, get comfortable with the weight of holding the horn and the physical demand it takes to march with a baritone of euphonium. Hope that helps!

the whole corps uses system blue ive heard bad stuff about them though so dont buy it and you can find much better euphoniums for a cheaper price

How different is between baritone and euph??
It’s the same instrument. Just one is a little heavier
Also the euphonium has a more rich yellow sound and the baritone is brighter, its similar to the difference between a trumpet and a flugel horn
Euphonium has a conical bore and baritone has a cylindrical bore which means the euphonium has a warmer sound than the baritone
