Head cam by Masato Kobayashi at IUPUI on August 12th performing The Concord Blue Devils 2017 program, Metamorph. 98.538 - Undefeated - DCI World Champions - 18
11:06 - 11:35 oh my god. Like holy crap. I can't even imagine playing something like that, my chops definitely aren't up to speed. Still, amazing to watch every time.
Same. I have a few sixtuplet runs this year, but for that duration and at that speed I would definitely hit every note incorrectly. Absolutely incredible to watch.
OhSnapHeJustOOFED+ Corp* This “band” is one of the top drum corps in the US, with 18 titles to its name. And I’m no BD fan, my heart belongs to the Phantom Regiment. Which I totally recommend, listen to 1989, 1996, 2008, and 2010.
@@robbieh.4116 Its a drum corps which has its own roots separate from bands but it doesn't really matter pretty much all of the performers come from band/orchestra backgrounds anyway
11:06 is probably one of my favorite pieces of literature written. such emotion can be invoked from marimba unlike any other, and its true beauty is really brought out from that section. an absolute masterpiece if you ask me.
I'm pretty sure the grip at the beginning was meant to be a throwback to the original days of dci, like how all the battery percussionists had snare drums. Similar thing about a transition from the past to the future.
This is so amazing! I'm a high school marching band mallet player and this is just so cool to me! Our band director showed our pit a blue fevils performance for reference to improve our technique and visuals. I aspire to be just like you! My main focus is xylophone but thos year, for our second song, our ballad, I have to run to one of the marimba and play alongside the marimba player with 4 mallets. I wish I could at some point be as good as you
I can't be the only one... His hands in the way he moves it's just like so cute.... Not only that but she's playing such a hard part I can never imagine playing marimba like that . ... ..
I've watched this many times both here, on the video and in person, and the his cymbal role speeds really bug me. He could achieve the same effect by rolling slower with more power. The center marimba does the the aforementioned technique. This is still insane though
Jaden D If you look at videos from the audience, the GoPros people used were mostly the full-sized variety, but I can’t tell the exact model. Definitely not a session
Marimba is one of those Instruments that can sound Cute and Innocent, then Fierce.
Vordelius so... an agressive pug
And give me insecurity aboit how much I suck and can't read music proficiently even though this is my 8th year in band
logan favro+ phat mood except I’m a euph player and have been in band for 6 years
Like a murderous teddy bear
Not the marimba is not one of those instruments I’m afraid.

I have seen so many perspectives of this same performance.

My chops are fast enough but literally every single note will be wrong

I play tuba but I like all instruments so I watch all cans
