I attended school in the late 60's early 70's. My grandson presently attends high school. Apart from computer studies ALL subjects he is doing I did 50 plus years ago. Technology, Science and society in general is not the same as in my day. I sympathise with kids who are forced to attend an outdated educational system not fit for todays economy. Designed to mould one into a conformist and to suppress any individual entrepreneurial spirit one may have. Where is the vocational training as in Germany. Teenagers would engage more fully in dismantling car engines, bricklaying and plumbing. Learning modern history regarding Jack the Ripper is absurd.
Honestly don’t blame kids from having enough and dropping out of the education system the system is designed for high learners and lower ones are tossed aside and forgotten about I left at 16 best decision I made got myself a trade job I especially had enough of have an agenda forced on me in lessons which had nothing to do with my learning.
I'm a SEND student myself. SEMH specifically, seeing many people supporting our needs even if I was 4-5 years ago.is amazing! We really do get overlooked especially by some people.
As a parent of a child with Autism myself i get what the parents must feel. The authorities have basically left them with a choice of Court Action or Meltdowns. Trust me if you live with meldowns each day you would take the court action. Then to pretty much force them to home school is a disgrace. The parents now will have no time for shopping or be able to get a break from their own carer roles only adding to their likely already stressful lives they deserve a medal not a fine.
How I feel real sorrow for these youngsters and their parents! What an agonising situation! I also pity the teachers. Too many teachers struggle to meet the needs of ADD/ADHD and autistic youngsters (not to mention the myriad of students with behavioural/emotional difficulties and learning issues) because they often require much support, supervision, guidance, and time that teachers cannot easily provide in light of all their other job obligations. Teaching such youngsters in classes with 25-40 students can also be punishing, exhausting, painful, demoralising, and futile. Ultimately, much additional government funding must be made available to provide excellent educational programmes for all youngsters and small classes (10-12 maximum) where teachers can give the necessary attention to their charges. Educating youngsters properly can prevent a lot of future chaos from developing in society. Recently retired after 35 years in full-time education (in private schools), I would not want to become a teacher today although teaching was very much a calling for me.
Yeah they expelled me for being cheeky back n forth with the teacher certain teachers anyway who shouldn't be teachers. Then they send me to one of the biggest abuse schools in the land. Underley Hall but I'll bet alot of those schools have as many court cases still going on decades later.

Hey im joe. Currently stressed out since my mum got given a notice today. School makes me incredibly anxious and i just couldnt cope and as much as i try to make myself go it reaches 8 am and im hyperventilating on my bed. People in the school always visit my house and just tell me that my mum is gonna get fined and stuff but they just dont seem to understand it 1 bit. Theres even a head psych report from 2 years ago that says they think i am at "high risk of school refusal" yet they still act as if its my mums fault
Could you get referral to a new psychiatrist or child psychologist I think high school is too hard for kids like us I was like this from age 14 had a mental health problem and was off school months then went back to school but in special needs unit but I hated it I wished when I was at school thed been special places for kidsvlike me and you now is it possible for you to be home educated or online school schools don't understand mental health issues school damaged me in confidence and trust I've good 🤞
Mental illness is the minds reaction to childhood wounds caused by neglect, abuse and stress usually by other human beings. People don’t mean to do this to each other it just happens. Probably because that was the way they were treated too. The world often feels like a cold, lonely place where we are all struggling just to survive. It’s very sad. But there is an answer, remove what is making you unhappy. Do what you love to do and stop trying to do everything to please everybody else all the time. Those who are happiest in this world usually put themselves first. Other people don’t condemn them for it in fact they respect them for it. We don”t enjoy being around unhappy people we like being around positive people. So do what you love to do and you will attract more positivity into your life. Try it.
After the last couple of years and online and distance learning from schools has had to be normal practice maybe they should offer this as a means for support for those that struggle with school and anxiety over school. Add online lessons to the attendance as I feel it’s not always the work that might stress them out but maybe the actual situation of school, the sensory overload, the fear of crowds. A child who wants to learn but struggles with school as a place would benefit from this, the parent would be supported with teaching and the schools would keep their attainment targets. Yes fine those that have a low attendance because they are taken out for holidays and unnecessary things but support those who hold their hands up, admit they are struggling and need people to help them reassure their child. Threats don’t work in any situation with children and a child with anxiety who struggles with school and is then told their parents will go to court…. That just increases their anxiety. Fighting for your child’s mental health is hard enough let alone when you also have to fight a system that is flawed. Maybe this will be the silver lining of covid and online classes for those that are struggling mentally, physically or have send that is diagnosed or undiagnosed may be the way forward. My girl is 4 and already suffers with anxiety when out and especially at nursery, constantly worried that they’ve prepared her meal right, that it doesn’t contain any allergy food, worries about accidents and what her friends will think or say if she has one… and she struggles to go to nursery emotionally sometimes, we have breakdowns at home cos she’s tired physically and mentally with trying to cope and seem ok at nursery. Childrens mental health is definitely overlooked a lot and fobbed off for other reasons such as it’s their age, they’ll grow out of it, the parenting is at fault.
I've been thinking this too, would be perfect for our situation but also needs to be able to attend school too as carers need a break for instance to catch up on sleep if like me they have a child that doesn't sleep much and needs constant supervision and also to be able to do simple things like shopping and going to doctors appointments none of these I could do with my youngest son as he doesn't cope at all.
The reason why they fine parents for there children won't go to school .because the school gets a certain amount of money to educate those children in which they don't get the support they need. Parents can sue the school for the lack of education given to that child . Because they don't get 1 to 1 support all children are a group learning Take it from a parent who has a child with special educational needs
Mayb the camera should follow the kids to school and find out why eh. Why do teachers help to bully the poor kids. Kids who have scraggy appearance worn out shoes and unkempt greasy hair fit in the only way they know how. To be the class clown directed by smarter kids so they get to laugh and not be in trouble and teacher goes along with it. Telling kids they'll be on benefits when older anyway like your mum to the whole class. That kid better think fast before it sinks in and erupt the class into laughter. Then get bullied more. If kids won't go to school you should find out why.
Don’t they have home schooling in your country ? In the US anyone can choose to homeschool their child for any reason. Of course, you have to have them registered and they may have to go up to the school at the end of the year to take test. They allow they parents to use their own curriculum or they can take free online classes. For special needs students we have special schools or classes and programs in the school for these students. I am not saying we have a great education system because we don’t . It is not the worse in the world it varies by state .
We have homeschool. I should know but..... its hard for some pearents espically with kids that need support. But instead of helping them the goverment is handing out fines

Hello Rishi I have a Question for you in regards to a Better future... I know someone who's child is in special needs school and he's had injuries in school on several occasions. It came to a point the family even called the police but they just said sorry we can not help. Once he cut his finger so he went to the teacher and showed his finger and the teacher replied and said what do you want me to do and ignored him. On his last injury he was pushed and from that he has not been in school for over 12 months. Also due to the injury and the stress from school he had seizure and nearly died. (He had seizure more then once) The local authorise got involved and still nothing has been done infact they lied about many things all they have been doing is just meetings after meeting but the poor child is suffering and he has now lost over years of education. It is very disappointing to hear from the local government staff lied about many things. The school and the local authorises should be shamed of them self for treating and lying to a special need child. They have been over four people from The local authorises to sort this metter and still continuing. Now it has come to a point the child is upset more because he has lost over years of education. (Where is safeguarding at school) (Where is the equal treatment) (Why was the child neglected) (Why was the child treated bad and given false promises from the local authorises) Do parents sends their children's to school and keep praying that they do not end up near enough in death bed. Parents should be able to send their children's to school and think 100% they will be 100% safe. How will their ever be a better future when the local authorise and the school treat a child and his family soo badly. Where is the Justice Thank you for your time. wish you all the best Take care
The government's role is to facillitate a safe society in which it acts for the general wellbeing of the citizens. It is NOT to sit in imperious judgement over us all, dictating how we must live our lives. This issue is difficult because bad parenting makes bad kids makes worse society, but at least a couple of these cases do not appear to be down to bad parents. I do get concerned when so many parents' go to excuse is autism or ADHD, but I don't know what the right solution should be for these kids.
There's nothing wrong with home schooling you simply pull your child out officially. As these have done before hand thus depriving the school of funds per pupil l head . This e whole process is terrible . as any one sued a school yet for damages ?

do what i did... i made it so the school made me stay home , go home they said, what u doing here they said your not suppose to be here they says. i think locking the teachers in the cupboard when they go in there was a big no no to them, personally i think they should of been better prepared before class starts, i was merely teaching them a lesson, its not my fault they didn't learn the 1st time and had to be taught again and again and again and so on and so on and so on.
Cmon where are the fathers, even if he was to be divorced or not being partners anymore, Its a must that HE must be part of that child's life team work makes the cream work.
Why go to school? To be a government slave? My guess is they don't have incentives to go to school. Will it bring happiness? I'm guessing they have had either something traumatic happen or they have never had structure. Being given things without working for them makes people unappreciative. I would guess most of these kids come from single parent homes. Go ahead and call me sexist but it takes more effort for a single parent and structure is hard to provide when there is only one parent. I am not saying this problem doesn't exist in 2 parent homes but independence is more apt to be learned in a 2 parent home. These poor kids are too dependent.
@@LouiseCoates meaning they take care of themselves? Do their own laundry? Make their own meals? That's wonderful! However something about going to school must be very difficult for them. I wonder what they feel when they are there. It must be bad enough that they risk their parent getting into trouble. I hated school. Absolutely loathed it. I wish I had the skills then that I do now. I don't think parents should be fined. I do believe it's important to find the reason for a student not wanting to go to school. I had to deal with both children and teachers that I had difficulty with. Learning to be able to do that is part of Independence as well. Parents are there for guidance and support but unfortunately dealing with undesirable classmates and teachers and possibly curriculum is something nobody can do for them. Even if schools improve (and I hope they do) real life is not always easy to handle.
@@sandralaganworth7614 yes the child I'm talking about did his own laundry and his own meals because his mother is also disabled and struggled to do those things. @@LouiseCoates like I said I loathed school. I ended up having to go to court for truancy. I am speaking from my own experiences. Each situation is different. What causes anxiety in one person may not be the cause in another. I respect that you are defending the person you are speaking about. I am pointing out that in some cases kids are coddled and that it hurts them by not allowing them to become independent. The case you bring up appears to be the opposite. What kind of example are these parents setting to their children?? If you don't like something, or it makes you 'anxious', that's okay, you don't have to do it... What absolute nonsense. Get a grip, or lose your kids to something who is capable of raising them.

Act is not law remember school is a business. No children no money

What's the point if he can't Evan have kids
Special Schools perhaps? Oh yea, they were closed...
too bright for special schools sometimes.
Special schools limit the qualifications you can get as well, which puts very bright students at a disadvantage
Having my own problems with this in the US.
UK's inevitable failure of public services. Sad.
Keep voting for these politicians to make more and more laws when will you realize the government is not here to help you. You are only money for them. They make these laws to fine you then you pay them to fight them. I rather have freedom at any cost than slavery any day. Government is the reason why we are in the mess in the first place and you want more government to step in. Time we say we don't need the government all we need is 10 laws the bill of rights in the constitution.
*they forcibly tax it at gunpoint. Otherwise spot-on.
What about the losing side of an election, they clearly didn't want the outcome, but are forced, sometimes even at gunpoint to deal with the new leader.
Nothing special vs any country but UK is on my experience a very bad expample of a "rich" land with outstanding lost of individualism and freedom.
Jail for not paying taxes or child not attending scholl,.....TV license ......... etc etc etc etc etc. Awful land.
Our children means our wealth of the country.
Each child should educate. Do good team work parents teachers and Government please.
It's always about punishment with these guys.
This is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, council are lying
Could you get referral to a new psychiatrist or child psychologist I think high school is too hard for kids like us I was like this from age 14 had a mental health problem and was off school months then went back to school but in special needs unit but I hated it I wished when I was at school thed been special places for kidsvlike me and you now is it possible for you to be home educated or online school schools don't understand mental health issues school damaged me in confidence and trust I've good 🤞
Yes, very much agree, remove the threat of prosecution!!!
Because they don't get 1 to 1 support all children are a group learning
Take it from a parent who has a child with special educational needs
Tofco Plays I agree and every child has the right to a public education that also fits their needs. These parents need a break, some love and support from their government and their communities !!! The government should be ashamed. I will praying for the these families. 🙂❤️✌️
im autistic i was the same kind of in primary i was good in secondary i was good for a few weeks but i couldn't with school i would cry and scream at my family because im also mute in school so when i got home i would have meltdowns and in school i got given detention for almost everything not doing any work tapping and that was basically it at the end of year 7 the school and my parents realized i am autistic then year 8 came around went back to getting detentions also i kept getting suspended for having meltdowns and im in year 9 now in a SEN school and it is BETTER then mainstream
Prosecuting and imprisoning parents is draconian and backwards. This is NOT in the best interests of the child! How disgraceful!
You can't go to prison it's a lie, this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, check bill of rights
Once you qualify with a PGCE consider the Private Sector
Are we living in Russia/China who do they think they are! I only found out this information the other day and had to look it up the control of people is scary and outrageous. I am in my sixties thank god I haven't got school age children. I thought people would have protested about this, and not just for Sen children.
Check out Pathological Demand Avoidance - Autism
His parents should have moved to Indonesia and sent him to a British school
this is where i am now
Wait...can you not homeschool your child in the UK
You can but you shouldn't have to, when schools make things so hard a child cannot reasonably be expeced to attend parents often have no choice.
For my is not a budget problem. It is to let child to be. To play, to live as they are. Dont bother child and parents with standards, laws and rules since people born to live as well as they can and not as some people think they may.
I realize this children living another age without this circunstances. They even wouldnt be pointed like now.
Same here.
I dont vote, i dont like politicians, i dont truth on justice courts, on autorithies, on most funcionaries related to education etc but so ironically I am envolve on all this.
Well, none fines or court for me but....like the same.
Prision for dont pay taxes or not attending school? UK sucks on a very outstanding grade.
Bussiness, people life is bussiness on many ways for some "people" since born to dead.
What law????
Legislation is not law it’s commercial rule!
Act of parliament is an implementation of commercial rule called legislation!
The law is called common law!!!!
And kids are first of all a private property......!
Albert Pike thanks! What do you think, is it accurate?
Yes secondary is tough for anybody really but being fined for not going there? Rubbish
It's About Money/Funding & Not An Education For These Authorities
You can't fund compasion. It runs deeper than that.
Hello Rishi
I have a Question for you in regards to a Better future...
(He had seizure more then once)
The local authorise got involved and still nothing has been done infact they lied about many things all they have been doing is just meetings after meeting but the poor child is suffering and he has now lost over years of education.
(Where is safeguarding at school)
(Where is the equal treatment)
(Why was the child neglected)
(Why was the child treated bad and given false promises from the local authorises)
Do parents sends their children's to school and keep praying that they do not end up near enough in death bed.
Parents should be able to send their children's to school and think 100% they will be 100% safe.
How will their ever be a better future when the local authorise and the school treat a child and his family soo badly.
Where is the Justice
Thank you for your time.
wish you all the best
Take care
This was before rishi
The government's role is to facillitate a safe society in which it acts for the general wellbeing of the citizens. It is NOT to sit in imperious judgement over us all, dictating how we must live our lives. This issue is difficult because bad parenting makes bad kids makes worse society, but at least a couple of these cases do not appear to be down to bad parents. I do get concerned when so many parents' go to excuse is autism or ADHD, but I don't know what the right solution should be for these kids.
We have home schooling. You can home school.
There's nothing wrong with home schooling you simply pull your child out officially. As these have done before hand thus depriving the school of funds per pupil l head . This e whole process is terrible . as any one sued a school yet for damages ?
I have autism... bust as i am a girl i was deemed not serve enough to get any support
Can we help in paying school requirements to a poor children who likes to study
Officially, home school them.
Not so easy that would put a huge stain on the parents. When will they go shopping and things and get a break from their carer roles if they do that?
the article says both parents interviewed did that, one is on the verge of losing her home now because of not being able to work.
Louise Coates I disagree with fining or locking away parents if the children don’t go to school.
@@honeybadger9425wow "shopping for shoes and things".."carer" rolels..? are you fucking insane? these are YOUNG boys..so how would you like it if you had a kid-boy or girl, and then one day this happened to you..? not exactly little house on the prairie is it ?
do what i did... i made it so the school made me stay home , go home they said, what u doing here they said your not suppose to be here they says. i think locking the teachers in the cupboard when they go in there was a big no no to them, personally i think they should of been better prepared before class starts, i was merely teaching them a lesson, its not my fault they didn't learn the 1st time and had to be taught again and again and again and so on and so on and so on.
Cmon where are the fathers, even if he was to be divorced or not being partners anymore, Its a must that HE must be part of that child's life team work makes the cream work.
And why If the child's father is violent has mental health problems witch means he is to dangerous to be near the child
1 of those children is extremely independent and has been for many years.
He struggled with social anxiety, a part of his autism. He would spend the whole day at school masking (pretending he was ok) however this was basically meaning the whole day was acting. Imagine being on stage from 7am to 5pm/6pm every day of the week. It's no wonder he struggled attending.
I do wish more was known about how to deal with anxiety. I think the classes are always going to be too large and I hate to say it but I don't think outdated education systems will ever change.
I met a 3yr old once who pulled up a chair clicked the cooker on and fried up acouple eggs. I was blown away.

Different story but same subject my grandson just gone on summer break with parents to Florida my son wrote to school telling them of situation ,on same day last week him and his wife got letter saying both being fined ,I think £120 each for keeping him off school ,also got letter congratulating them on sons 100% attendance record up to then ,the point is by going on holiday now my son and wife will pay the fine in this latest school scam £240 like lots of other parents as by going now now instead of school holidays he is saving nearly £2000 on the holiday its a scam by schools 👎👎👎

The law is correct. Children MUST go to school. I was in school in the 80s, refusal would never have been allowed then. Parents would have forced their children into school. No arguments.
Am I watching the same video as you?
That's not true as home schooling exists even in the 80s.

If you don't like something, or it makes you 'anxious', that's okay, you don't have to do it...
What absolute nonsense.
Get a grip, or lose your kids to something who is capable of raising them.
My child was so anxious his brain stopped him being able to see when he woke up in a morning (every schoolday for a month), I didn't believe him until I heard him fall halfway down the stairs on the first day at which point we got our optician to back it up.
