+Haman Karn My impression of the little girl's hoverboard in BTTW2 is that is was designed for kids. You could have called it "My First Hoverboard: Now With Scooter Handle Attachment".
Wrong! Sorry but that’s around when electric longboards came out, they are more practical as a transportation system and you can charge it with a laptop charger.
+MrMeeea Well Marty takes it off in the movie, so I'm guessing it's not permanently attached. Maybe you have to buy them separately to make it like a scooter? Cause the other guys' hoverboards didn't have handlebars. I know theirs was made by a different company and stuff though. xD
I tought that in the Back to the Future world, this would be a old thing. Makes no sense a commercial for this product in 2015... Also, the product is originally a scooter. Marty was the one that broke the thing and made a hoverboard/skate. Also, Mattel.
This makes no sense. The pink hover board in the movie was made by Mattel for little kids. This douche bag looks like he would be in a commercial for a Pit Bull or one of the other gang member's boards. Jesus, Universal, get your own film's branding right. You released this to create nostalgia with your core audience but, from the looks of every comment thread where this video is posted, you have effectively pissed them off.
+Jeremy Sandlin I'm a huge BTTF fan. I immediately noticed that the commercial looks to be aimed at teens and yet is selling the little-girl-branded hoverboard. And yet, it did not tick me off. I liked the commercial, despite the issue. And I suspect there are many other fans like me who've seen the commercial, noticed the issue, and still enjoyed it. But, sadly, enjoying something is less likely to motivate people to comment on the internet than not enjoying something. So, you can't really look at internet comments and say with any confidence that the video has effectively hacked off the BttF core audience.
+Nic Weymouth You make a good point. I agree that comments online can be generally skewed negative. I also agree that not all BTTF fans will be completely turned off by this ad. I can only speak to the reasons why I personally dislike this ad, and there are some very specific reasons. The primary reason I dislike this ad is because I find it incredibly lazy. One of the things that I love about the films is the amount of detail that is packed into almost every frame and the kind of continuity that only a truly passionate film maker can bring to a project. It's the kind of film that I can still learn something new about even after watching it for 30 years now. There are so many clever references packed into the front page of the newspaper from BTTF2 alone that you would never see unless you were to freeze fame and actually read the rest of the paper. It didn't need to be there but it is and it's amazing. I would describe this as incredible craftsmanship. This ad however, basically spits in the face of that craftsmanship. Normally, I wouldn't comment or say anything. Everyone has a right to be creative and put their own spin on established concepts. But, this is different. This was posted by the film's distributer which means it directly reflects the BTTF brand. And they got it so wrong. I have worked at an ad agency long enough to have a fairly good idea what the conversation may have looked like that produced this video. "Universal needs to push 30th anniversary Back to the Future blu-ray sales." "Let's do a hoverboard commercial, something nostalgic, something shareable, no brainer." "Great, we need it in two weeks for it to tie into our other marketing efforts" "Two weeks? Sure, we can put it together... I know a guy in LA that has replicas of the hat, shoes, hoverboard. We'll need to take the Mattel logo off though because we don't have licensing rights." Then, they shot a 90's, teen, X Games skateboard commercial on their roof with the props and called it good. Lazy. And all they really needed to do to fix this was use a Pit Bull prop instead of the Mattel Hoverboard.
+Jeremy Sandlin I'm a mild fan of the series. It mildly irritated me that he had a little girl board. But, really, it's not about it being wrong, things in sci-fi franchises wind up being wrong at some level all the time and the fans kind of enjoy finding those things: it's about the fact that either no thought was put into this, or the thought that WAS put into this was "the audience is stupid and they won't care."
+Nic Weymouth I agree with you,.. it is my fav movie and hate those things about this commercial,. but not enough to make a comment on it especially if others already said it,.. I did thumbs up one of them,.. I also would have liked to see the pit bull as if it was a new product,. the hover boards in the movie seemed to have been a common thing and around a while,.. but the pit bull seemed to just have launched.
Isn't it funny that we always forget that this particular Hoverboard model actually belonged to a little girl? Like, it's not like it was originally intended to be super cool.
So if little girls like something, it's impossible for it to be cool? Because I was a little girl in 1989 and to this day I'll swear everything I liked was awesome.
+Alex McGillvrey If you've seen the film, you'd know the hoverboard in this video is a children's product, the killerboards were for teens and young adults and for everyone else there were flying cars.
Fully grown adult rinding on a pre schooler's broken hoverboard... yeah okay, You kind of need to understand the context of you're own damn movies! Could have shown 2015 Biff's Hoverboard, cause you need POWER!!!
+petro1986 In part 3 they went back in time to the west and messed with the continuity of time when they stopped people from dying on the future train crash,.. it caused chain reaction and everyone is transgender and trans age and trans race..
+wil mach that is genuinely a great answer. where not in the reality of B2TF2, thereby giving greater reason why the 3rd film wasn't needed! *gold star and a cookie for you*
petro1986 If only a part 4 came out to undue part 3 and restore the original timeline, we'd have hover boards and maybe marty would not have gotten Parkinsons. part 4 would probably be as bad as this commercial,. so luckily it would also get lost in the time line once they prevented part 3. All this might have already happened but we are stuck in the gay tmeline where part 3 still exsist,..
It was a girl's scooter, as EVERYONE has said, but the thing that really bugged me was that they went to the trouble to find futuristic shoes with similar asthetics to the auto-Nikes, but THE ACTOR ISN'T EVEN WEARING HIS PANTS INSIDE OUT! What the hell Universal?? That being said, I want the blue and purple one.
They do know that the pink Mattel Hover Board in the movie was for children, right? The ones Biff and his gang had were presumably the teenage/adult ones.
Now, in case anyone wants the backstory of the entire Back to the Future trilogy rereleasing on the 21st of October this year, here it is; After I went to see Shaun the Sheep Movie, a thought came to mind; As you all know, the year we now live in is 2015, and I thought it was a great year for Universal to rerelease the BttF trilogy! So I e-mailed Cineplex to see if they'll actually do it, and they said yes! To my surprise, I didn't think it would be such a catch of action, but it'll be October 21st on Wednesday, and to my knowledge, it'll only be in theaters in Canada. And if Universal actually is making a Jaws 19, I'll be surprised. That, and it showing at a Holomax theater, made specifically for Jaws 19.
Maybe in the idealised future 2015 of the Back To The Future series, little girls can ride pink hover-boards and dream about owning a more powerful pit bull board; while skater dudes can ride pink hover-boards made by Mattel and be totally okay with it, because it's not about the colour it's about the skating and they don't want the added power of a pit bull, they want to do tricks and get air from their own skills not some jet pack. Maybe in the film version of 2015 people don't find it horrifying that a guy could advertise a product that's brightly coloured or even ~shock horror~ pink. Maybe it matches his sick shirt. Maybe the colour and the brand of the board don't detract from how cool it is to levitate above the ground. But maybe assuming that in the year 2015 guys would stop caring about whether a product was "manly" enough for them to use it, was actually the most unrealistic thing about the film version of 2015. (This commercial being a part of that film version).
This is false advertisement. This hoverboard actually comes with a handle attached to the hover board and you you know what that means? you guessed it, you have to use your hands, like a baby's toy! If you're in the market for a schway hoverboard, get The Pitbull, just got one myself. Worth every cred.
Keep it, I got a Pitbull now!
Gluten free, what a relief
Is it vegan too? Lol!
+Slashtap3 Is it organic though? And from a free-range hoverboard farm?
Is there a peanut free version?
where's the Mattel logo?
+Club Nientiendo Huelo a idea de un sketch pa' tu canal!
+Club Nientiendo I guess they didn't bother getting Mattel's permission this time.
+Haman Karn My impression of the little girl's hoverboard in BTTW2 is that is was designed for kids. You could have called it "My First Hoverboard: Now With Scooter Handle Attachment".
true
Club Nientiendo that is how you know it’s completely fake
Wait a minute he's riding the little girls hoverboard. Shouldnt he be promoting a Pitbull instead? 'More power!'
+Mark Meason and was a skooter, not a skateboard
+Demetrius Coutinho Exactly! You bojo's get the commercial right!
That is ✨rude✨
Wow! The future looks a lot like the 80s!
When 2015 rolled around, the actual hoverboard we got was sad. This would've been amazing to have!
This “hoverboard” we got should have been called a “uni-board”
Wrong! Sorry but that’s around when electric longboards came out, they are more practical as a transportation system and you can charge it with a laptop charger.
Great! But people forget this was a model made by matel and was the girl version... Normal Hoverboards have a Punk design and different board shapes.
+Oliver Henaine and was a skooter, not a skateboard
+Demetrius Coutinho yes! you're right.
+Oliver Henaine If you don't want it, then keep it. I got a PitBull, now!
Exactly what I was thinking. This is a girls one and it doesn't even have the Mattel logo on it.
+Transfiguration and ithas poweeeerrrr right??
Where is the Handlebar ? :/ That's not the hoverboard...
+MrMeeea That's what I'm thinking. If you're going to make hoverboards real, make it like the movie.
I want a Pit-Bull now .__.
+MrMeeea Moi ça me ferait chier de devoir le casser pour avoir un truc comme dans le film
+MrMeeea Well Marty takes it off in the movie, so I'm guessing it's not permanently attached. Maybe you have to buy them separately to make it like a scooter? Cause the other guys' hoverboards didn't have handlebars. I know theirs was made by a different company and stuff though. xD
+MrMeeea The REAL hoverboard commercial is on my page (with handlebars!!!)
that warning message is perfect. great job on that, it's hilarious.
Dude! Why are you riding a Hoverboard for little girls?
+THouGHT CReaTioNiST
Dude, why are you being such a smartass?
Why the fuck would anyone complain? ITS A HOVERBOARD! Lol XD
+ChipmunkQueen Actually, this one was a hover scooter, Marty tore the handlebars off of it.
Yeah why the hell is he using that and also with no handlebar
I don’t give a shit who it is for
it’s a hoverboard
0:58 is best part of this :)
0:58 "Out of my way, birds!"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

+Jeremy Sandlin that´s what I saw they would hire better "Creatives" or Copy Writters for make that commercial better
+Jeremy Sandlin I'm a huge BTTF fan. I immediately noticed that the commercial looks to be aimed at teens and yet is selling the little-girl-branded hoverboard.

Got my ticket...can`t wait to see BTTF back in the cinema !
Gluten Free. I'm sold.
+TrvialMatter beat me to it
Gluten Free

+responsiblegamers to bronies it isn't
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) Hover scooter?
Seeing this spot in cinema was so damn awesome!
Shark still looks fake
Hey McFly, you bojo, those boards don't work on water!
Unless you've got POWER!
I'll hold out for the Pit Bull.
I'm so pleased it's gluten free!
There are kids in Africa who could eat the air that goes under that Hoverboard :'(
+Ivan West EPIC, howtobasic style baby
Whoa, that commercial is pretty cool. (Man, it's like from the movie, but I wanna get that thing! 😊)
Read Gluten Free in the warning, LOL
who needs a Hoverboard .. that's for kids .. i want a Killerboard!
+Bassface Sascha fuck yeah!!!!!
+Bassface Sascha What's the difference?
+Alex McGillvrey If you've seen the film, you'd know the hoverboard in this video is a children's product, the killerboards were for teens and young adults and for everyone else there were flying cars.
lewrick L hoverboard just sounds like a cooler name.
Alex McGillvrey Mmkay..... >.>
That disclaimer though! Pure genius!
I'm cry because I miss the good old days GREAT SCOTTS PERRY U GOT COME BACK WITH ME WERE IN 2026!!!!
It didn't have the Mattel company logo. The hot pink color scheme was meant for kids, the cooler designs were the paint designs for older people.
Beautiful nicely done there I gotta get me one of those
I'm so glad the warning made sure to add the fact that my hoverboard is gluten free 😂😂😂😂
Fully grown adult rinding on a pre schooler's broken hoverboard... yeah okay, You kind of need to understand the context of you're own damn movies! Could have shown 2015 Biff's Hoverboard, cause you need POWER!!!
+petro1986 yeah that douche should be riding a pitbull not that little pink girly one

So glad the Hover Board is gluten free, what a relief!
"Gluten free." Love it.
the first few seconds made this video sound like a anti-smoking ad 💀💀
*Xzibit appears*
"YO dawg, we heard you like air. So we put more air in your air, so you can air while you air."
little air, big air, air air and MEGA air
Three things.
1. Wheres the Mattel logo?
2, Didnt that hoverboard come with handlebars?
3. Im pretty sure that was a girl hoverboard.
When I saw the preview, I knew it was gonna be like a Hippie saying ''bruh, dude, this is da' new hova´board!''
Plot twist: that was a real working hoverboard
You can keep it I have a pitbull now
I don't care how old ill be when this comes out I WILL ride it
I wonder if Hover Master is a joint venture of Mattel and Lexus.
-Mickey Mouse
My theory is this was a prototype ad from a small company that was sold to Mattel, who then later added a handlebar and rebranded it for kids.
little girl from bttf2: "keep it, I got a pitbull now"
Keep it! I got a Pit Bull now.
If this kid is so cool, why isn't he wearing his pockets inside-out?
I feel like people forget that the hover board is a hovering scooter in bttf2
He's got on the power laces nikes!!! Sweet
When you remember that Marty’s hoverboard was a girl’s hover scooter with the handle removed:
😅
It's like a futuristic 90s advert! :D
This is my goal in life.
This is so fake. It's not even by Mattel.
Haha, "Gluten free".
FORGET THAT! I WANT A PITBULL!!!
All you guys are wondering why he is riding a pink hoverboard and that is because thats the one in the movie p.s. THANK GOD ITS GLUTEN FREE!!
I want this so bad....
I quickly noticed the self strap nikes from the movie. Or were they not the ones I'm thinking of?
lol "Gluten free" xD
and the shoes.... THE SHOES~!
Looks about right.
How many times is this guy going to say "air" bruh! Lol
I love the hover master hover board it’s cool
It was a girl's scooter, as EVERYONE has said, but the thing that really bugged me was that they went to the trouble to find futuristic shoes with similar asthetics to the auto-Nikes, but THE ACTOR ISN'T EVEN WEARING HIS PANTS INSIDE OUT! What the hell Universal??
That being said, I want the blue and purple one.
It's okay, this is a Gluten free product. (0:57)
Thing is the hover board used in this was actually a scooter in the movie...still awesome though!
Umm, isn't he technically riding a little girl's Hover Board! Oh wait, it's 2015, so it's ok!
They do know that the pink Mattel Hover Board in the movie was for children, right? The ones Biff and his gang had were presumably the teenage/adult ones.
his pants should be inside out
Love that they added the gluten free in the disclaimer
At least he didn't try to use it over water
WKWKWKWKWK DUDE!!! WHY ARE YOU RIDING A HOOVERBOARD FOR LITTLE GIRL
you guys know hoverboard is a skooter, not a skateboard, right? pitbull was a skateboard. hoverboard was a "mod" made by marty mcfly.
Pero donde se compra ??? Tanto anuncio y no ponen en qué web se puede comprar
I NEED ONE
Where do we buy the hover board
This is heavy!
Shouldn't the hover board also be used as scooters with removable bar handles like shown in Back to the Future Part 2?
+Alex McGillvrey and be from Mattel?
Ну, что можно сказать? За 30 лет мы научились монтировать...
And he's wearing the power laces and Marty Jr's hat.
You forgot that hoverboards are actually scooters and Marty mcfly just ripped off the handle
Where can I get it and what is its price??
Now, in case anyone wants the backstory of the entire Back to the Future trilogy rereleasing on the 21st of October this year, here it is; After I went to see Shaun the Sheep Movie, a thought came to mind; As you all know, the year we now live in is 2015, and I thought it was a great year for Universal to rerelease the BttF trilogy! In short, I'm responsible for all of this.
Wasn't that particular hoverboard by Mattel, not "Hover Master"?
I want that!
“By hover master” Since when mcfly altered the brand from Mattel to hover master? 0:56
These movies are so stupid yet enjoyable
Gluten free at the bottom of the Cautions xD
Lol I love the gluten free comment
this a real fly
This looks dope
Where buy it
Maybe in the idealised future 2015 of the Back To The Future series, little girls can ride pink hover-boards and dream about owning a more powerful pit bull board; while skater dudes can ride pink hover-boards made by Mattel and be totally okay with it, because it's not about the colour it's about the skating and they don't want the added power of a pit bull, they want to do tricks and get air from their own skills not some jet pack. Well it's Gluten Free. So does that mean you can eat it?
Where can I buy one?
Is that the one in back to the future
How to buy?
This is false advertisement. This hoverboard actually comes with a handle attached to the hover board and you you know what that means? you guessed it, you have to use your hands, like a baby's toy!
If you're in the market for a schway hoverboard, get The Pitbull, just got one myself. Worth every cred.
Sorry I won't by one.
Unless it's got P O W E R ! ahahahahah!
