Pat actually walked away from her career at one time to be a "stay at home mom" to her kids. Husband Neil continued working as a session and studio musician. Then, as Pat tells it, one day their kids were watching MTV (Remember back when they actually played music?) when they said "Hey, Mom. This woman looks just like you." She informed them that "that woman" was indeed their mother. Having known her only as Pat Giraldo, or by her birth name, which I would butcher if I tried to type it here, they laughed and said something like "Oh, Mom. That's Pat Benatar." Realizing that her own kids had no idea who she is, she called her husband and said, "We're going on tour." She is a true rock star and an amazing person.
Thanks for telling that story! Even as a die-hard fan since I was a kid, I had only heard parts of it. BTW, her full birth name is Patricia Mae Andrzejewski...I can spell it, but don't ask me to pronounce it! =)

@@vampfashions I'm not a family member, but I have a very good memory. I don't remember who was interviewing her, but the revelation of her motivation for returning to the stage made an impact in my mind. True, she may have been elaborating or deflecting, but I would never question her own statements on this.

He didnt appreciate them wasting her effort stating they arent 20 years old. That was hard. God bless yall from Ky.

She said in an interview years ago that she had to learn how put a rasp in her voice to sound more ‘rock & roll’ because her opera training focused on doing the exact opposite. One of the truly great voices in rock history.
Pat Benatar had many songs on the radio back in the 80's, this is the song that has stood the test of time. Every female singer with a band will have this one in her repertoire.
This was such a ROCKING TUNE in the day, and of course still is. Driving home from high school and this come on the radio?? What a great day!! Yes, she is such a legend.

A true Grande Dame of rock and roll. There were few then and few now who can take the stage and equal the sheer power of Pat Benatar. I'm so lucky to have been a young man with music from Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, and so many other powerhouse women. You have so much more to listen to, so keep going.
She has been all over the radio since inception, she has so many hits, I'm sure some charted. She has been inducted into the rock n roll HOF and appreciated by millions all over the world again... since inception. STILL gains new fans of ALL generations and has influenced so many influential men and women in music.... And I STILL think she is underappreciated. That is how amazing she is.
She was an Opera trained singer with a 5 octave range. She is also about 4' 11" which led 95.5 KLOS Radio DJ Bob Coburn to coin the title of "Power Elf of the 80's" to describe her incredibly BIG and powerful singing! I saw her at the Fabulous Forum in L.A. and had the worst seat in the arena, I had cement wall behind me and she was at the far end of the stage. She was so small that she looked like an ant in a leotard on stage, but her voice and Neil's guitar shook the place!!!
Her husband Neil Geraldo is an amazing guitar player. He did a lot of session work for Rick Derringer and Rick Springfiled. Very respected by other guitarists.
Met my wife in high school in 1980 and she was super into Pat Benatar and she didn't take any shit from me. Pat influenced alot of young women in the late 70s and 80s.
Interesting note: The video for this song (orginal studio version) was the 2nd video ever played on MTV. Pat does some great harmonies in the studio. Highly recommend it. Back then, they had a second guitarist and a bit heavier sound. By their 3rd album, she replaced the 2nd guitarist and brought in a keyboardist to play more radio friendly songs. For a real vocal treat? Listen to "WUTHERING HEIGHTS" (studio version on CRIMES OF PASSION)
Why not enjoy Pat Benatar songs instead of formulaic, repetitive uh, movie of the week songs. I stopped listening after 2 albums because what made her amazing stopped happening in favour of "society repair" songs. Same thing happened with Blondie.
I remember seeing her live about 10 yrs ago. I had a couple of 25 yr old friends in tow. We went to this festival to see Imagine Dragons, but it was so packed we couldn't get close, so I said let's walk over to another stage and see Pat Benatar. One of the girls said, "am I going to know any of her songs?" I said yes, you will know them all. LOL
In terms of the hard rock ladies of the 80s there was Pat, Anne Wilson, and Joan Jett. Not that the second and third tiers were hard on the ears, but there can only be one ruling trumvirate at a time.
Pat is a criminally under rated female rock vocalist. She is right there with Ann Wilson, Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks. Pat's song ..Hell is For Children ..is another great song. It stirs anger, and sadness. A very emotional song
Oh my Goodness...this is one of my favorite female rock artists from the 80s. She was, still is, & will forever be absolutely amazing!!! She's a legend no doubt about it! This is definitely one artist that I wish I could've been able to have went to one of her concerts. I probably would've had to have gone to the hospital afterwards to put my body back together though lol. I would've especially have to have had my head & neck reattached because they would've been detached from head banging & rocking out! I was very young at this time. My family was strictly country & bluegrass music only & I never got to experience concerts of different genres of music except listening to it on my boom box in my room or my Sony Walkman with my headphones, or if I was with some of my friends that listened to the same music that I did. It wasn't until I was older that I was able to go to concerts on my own & experience the different genres & types of music I liked. My favorite music is still country. I'm a country girl born & raised but that didn't mean I didn't listen to other music. All I can say is she's an icon. She put on an awesome show everytime she graced a stage. Great reaction Britt. This definitely brought back some memories of my early childhood as I kind of tell my age lol.
Loved seeing you rock out to Pat. She had many, many hits and 2 of my favorites were 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' & 'Hell is for Children'. With regards to the last song that was recorded when awful stories were finally coming out about abused children. Pat felt that she needed to help bring attention to the abuse that some children were having to deal with.
I love Pat, too. She was one of the first female rockers. Super cool then and still is. This song/album came out when I was a kid. We loved it. I love her song Wuthering Heights. It shows her soft voice. Super pretty.
Yes, I'm old but I got to see most of the best musicians from the late 70s through today. Heartbreaker is the song she ended the show with but didn't come out for any encores. After about 4 minutes of clapping and screaming they turned on the lights. The applause turned into boos. Her daughter Haley Giraldo is a singer and drop-dead gorgeous.

Heartbreaker is the first big hit.. there is book about her career. "Between a Heart and a Rock Place. It's really good.. written like she telling you the story herself. I went to the book signing when it released.. she's really sweet
She's also classically trained. She initially "wanted" to sing opera but after awhile, she said nuts to that and pursued rock n roll. Pat Benetar is an absolute legend. Since you dig her, check out Joan Jett. First song should be "I Love Rock n Roll" (there's no way you've never heard it....even just a snippet here and there) just because it's iconic. But personally, I really think you'll enjoy "Bad Reputation." Talk about honesty in music.....yeesh! Great reaction, love! Keep em flowing!!
Amazing Pat in her prime. Although to me, she retains her essence and incredible voice. It’s just so natural for her and her husband is so talented as well. Great talents, and great example to me of a successful long term couple in rock-a very hard thing to accomplish. They have two beautiful daughters btw-Haley and Hana. 🤟🏼🔥
Pat Benatar is my favorite 80's female artist. My favorite song of hers is "Invincible". If you want something very different from her, "Hell is for Children" is an amazing and sad song about child abuse. She really is amazing.

Yes, they have kids. One of their daughters went on tour with them as a backup vocalist. Check out Shadows Of The Night.
She already reacted to Shadows of the Night

She's got so many good songs, it's actually hard to pick a favorite.
No You Don't; Rated X; Heartbreaker; In The Heat Of The Night; If You Think You Know How To Love Me; Suburban King...It's actually not that hard lol

I "NEED" to see Britt Performing this song in Karaoke!!!!!! Like if you want to see it!!!!
I have loved this song since i was a kid but i've never seen this concert video. She absolutely murdered it, brought it back and killed it again.
