  • SUBSCRIBE for new videos every week! / joannasohofficial Nowadays, our lifestyles are causing us to have really BAD POSTURE from poor sitting habits such as slouching, sitting in front of the computer for an extended period of time, constantly texting and looking down at your phone, carrying really heavy bags or ladies, wearing high heels 24/7.
    WATCH this video to learn the 4 common types of bad postures and how you can change it!
    1) Lumbar Lordosis
    2) Thoracic Kyphosis or Hunched back
    3) Sway Back
    4) Forward Head
    BAD POSTURE
    When our spine is positioned in an unnatural alignment, the curves are exaggerated, which can be due to tight or weak muscles, resulting in bad posture. Uncorrected posture, overtime can lead to chronic pains.
    GOOD POSTURE
    A good posture is when you hold your body upright where the least strain is placed on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement.
    It is extremely important to have a good posture! When you have proper posture, it improves bodily alignment, eliminates back and neck pain, improves circulation, improves digestion, improves breathing, makes you look taller, and also makes you look and feel confident.

    • @jaimesrk
      @jaimesrk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      @@siriousllyy Yes, it works. However, do keep in mind your posture might not get a 100% corrected. My fysiotherapist actually used to give me the same exercises and they always helped. If you're in pain you'll notice a big change after 3-4 weeks; by then it will mostly be gone. You do have to do the exercises every day (at least in the first couple a weeks). The biggest challenge is to stick to it. I always stop doing the exercises right after I feel better and there's a slight improvement in my posture. Over time this causes your body to fall back into it's "old" posture, since that is the one your body is most used to. And the pain also comes back if you do not correct yourself immediatly after catching yourself falling back into old patterns. Also it is very important to have a good working/study ethic, otherwise you will still sit hunched over your laptop, sit for too long, etc. Which will slow down the recovery time.

    • @jaimesrk

      These exercises really help, so go for it. I do recommend seeing a fysiotherapist though (at least 2-3 session), 'cause they can really help you with performing the exercises correctly. I used to strain my neck when I did the exercises on my own. Once you know how to perform them, you can easily do them on your own. If you don't have access to a fysiotherapist I'd recommend starting with the simple exercises (like stretching and shoulder squeezes etc.) and built up from there. You shouldn't feel any pain when doing these exercises, just some (comfortable) pulling, thightening and relaxing of your muscles.
