Dont worry about that...I think you will find most Black Sabbath fans prefer the early albums with Ozzy, but respect and still love Ronnie James Dio and especially this song. Dio has more talent just not as much character in his voice imo. He also has a great solo career, he passed in 2010.
Playlist time Molly boy ! My favorite song and album of all time . Checkout .. Don't talk to strangers... on his solo album... Dio 1st two solo albums are epic !
Dio was after Ozzy. Considered one of the best vocalists ever in metal. Dio’s solo stuff like Last in Line, We Rock, Don’t talk to strangers, and especially “Rainbow in the dark” is great.
Dio was one of the all time greats. His stuff with Sabbath, his stuff with Rainbow before, his solo career after, guy has a massive catalogue of quality records.
as much as I love sabbath with dio, i honestly find his sabbath years to be some of the weaker in his catalogue (with a few extremely standout exceptions, Heaven and Hell being one). That's not to say the rest isn't next level good, I just find his days in Rainbow and his solo stuff to really be peak Dio.

Dio was not only the singer in Black Sabbath, but also in Elf, Rainbow, Dio, and Heaven & Hell. He is considered one of the most legendary singers of all time, and rightly so. Quite clearly, Dio and Ozzy brought their own energies and vocals to Black Sabbath. I personally don't think one is better or worse than the other, they're both absolute legends.
Hell go even further back to the late 1950's - Ronnie Dio and the Red Caps and Ronnie Dio and the Prophets. "Blue Days, Blue Nights" or "Walking in Different Circles" will blow you away how different his sound was back in the day.

Another AMAZING Sabbath tine with him is Sign of the Southern Cross. Fucking phenomenal. For his solo stuff, check out Don't talk To Strangers and The Last In Line. Now, my son, you are a man! 🤘😎🤘
For more Dio stuff I recommend "Stand Up And Shout" or "Holy Diver" by Dio or even "Man On The Silver Mountain" by Rainbow. A very cool vocalist to listen to.

Ronnie James Dio was one of the greatest rock/metal singers to ever live. I was lucky enough to see him with Black Sabbath before he died. Absolutely incredible. I love watching your reactions, bro. So glad you're enjoying this journey.
Dio was the GOAT of metal/hard rock. You should check out Rainbow - "Stargazer" for another band with Dio singing. It's more on the hard rock side in the 70's (pre-Sabbath), but it's amazing. Dio's solo band (post-Sabbath) is also great, but I'd start with the Rainbow track before going to solo....
HaHa, you stumbled into a rabbit hole with Black Sabbath's best album, with RJD. I first discovered Dio as the singer for Rainbow, with Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple on guitar. He also has some solo bangers.
“The world is full of kings and queens, who blind your eyes and steal your dreams” & “They’ll tell you black is really white, the moon is just the sun at night” Some of my favorite lyrics.
You have found the the legend, have fun going down this rabbit hole. Legendary is an understatement. Just a few bands he blessed with his voice, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, his band "DIO", and finally Heaven and Hell which is this band with drummer Bill Ward replaced with Vinny Appice. Yessss!! Ronnie James Dio era Sabbath is fantastic! The original stuff with Ozzy is still my favorite but there is no denying the power of Dio's voice! "Children of the Sea", "The Sign of the Southern Cross", and "The Mob Rules" are other great songs from them. "Don't Talk to Strangers" is a solo Dio song that kicks all kinds of a$$!!

Children of the Sea is a must imo. Great song. The vocalist is Dio in that song too.
Ronny James Dio was the singer of rainbow back in the early days. He also had his solo band called Dio. He has one of the most soulful metal voices ever. He’s really like an RnB singer singing metal lol but the early rainbow stuff is great. Or if you wanna hear us solo band, Dio, the last in line is a great album
Another great song from this album "Children of the Sea". Some songs from Dio's solo career "Holy Diver"..."Egypt"..."Straight Through the Heart". Dio is a great vocalist, definitely top 5 of rock and roll.
Dio is considered the greatest metal vocalist of all time by many. Funny you just stumbled across him this way. Yes, react to more of his music. He is amazing!!!!!
Rainbow is Dio's other band he was in as well. Stargazer is a phenomenal song, it will take you somewhere you haven't ever been. It will tell you a story like a great novel. If you want a great Dio song, that is your next song. Studio version is best IMO.
Another Dio Sabbath masterpiece is sign of the southern cross.... After Dio, Sabbath made an album with a third vocalist (Ian Gillian of Deep Purple) called "Born Again" The whole album is a banger! "Zero the hero" "Disturbing the priest" "Trashed" "Digital bitch" All amazing tracks.

Your face when you realized it wasn't Ozzy was priceless. Dio was the perfect replacement for Ozzy, one metal God followed by another. This song is right up there as one of the greatest Sabbath songs of all time.
Some spot-on comments about the song on your part. This album came out in 1980. That time period, late 70s to early 80s, was magical. It is hard to fully grasp unless you were there at the time. From Black Sabbath, to Ozzy/Randy Rhoads, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Michael Schenker Group, Def Leppard, Van Halen, and more... everywhere you turned, there were incredible albums being released. As for name pronunciations, it is Ronnie James Dee-O and Tony Eye-Om-Me.
That my friend is Ronnie James Dio, one of the greatest rock/metal vocalist of all time. He took over from Ozzy when Ozzy got kicked out. That's when Ozzy went off and did most of his own Solo stuff.
Mate you got to get some Rainbow Stargazer in your ears! Or Kill The King by Rainbow. Or Falling Off The Edge Of The World by Sabbath. What a treat to hear Ronnie James Dio for the first time.
Not the typical list of first recommendations, but I totally agree with it. Maybe throw in Shame on the Night to contrast with the energy of Kill the King.
Black Sabbath was a British heavy metal band formed in 1968 in Birmingham by guitarist and main songwriter Tony Iommi, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler, vocalist Ozzy Osbourne and drummer Bill Ward.[1] Since Ozzy Osbourne's departure, the band has undergone several line-up changes, with guitarist Iommi being the only one present in all of them. Originally a blues rock band, they soon adopted the name Black Sabbath and began incorporating horror stories into their lyrics, as well as using low-tuned guitars. Although these two themes were common, they also composed songs that dealt with social instability, political corruption, the dangers of drug abuse, and apocalyptic prophecies resulting from war. The original lineup came to an end in 1979 with Osbourne's dismissal, due to his addiction to alcohol and use of other drugs. He was replaced by Ronnie James Dio, former Rainbow singer. After recording two albums with Dio, Black Sabbath faced numerous member changes during the 80s and 90s, which included vocalists Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin, as well as several drummers and bassists. In 1992, Iommi and Butler joined Dio and drummer Vinny Appice to record the album Dehumanizer. The original lineup reunited in 1997, when they recorded the live album Reunion. Black Sabbath's latest studio album, titled 13, was released in June 2013 and featured Iommi, Butler and Osbourne. Between 2016 and 2017 they performed "The End Tour", a tour that officially marked the end of the group's career. Black Sabbath is usually cited as one of the pioneers of heavy metal.[2][3] The group helped define the genre with releases such as Paranoid (1970), Master of Reality (1971) and Heaven and Hell (1980), selling more than 70 million copies during their career.[4] They were defined by MTV as "the greatest heavy metal band of all time", and were ranked 2nd on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists". Rolling Stone magazine placed them at number 85 on their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". The band was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and has twice won the Grammy Awards in the Best Metal Performance category.

Ronnie passed on May 16th 2010 he was 67 years old and is still considered the GOAT but also the Godfather of metal! The album Heaven And Hell was released in 1980.
Love Black Sabbath Dio era!! Need to see Ronnie perform live with them!! 🤘🏼
They crush this live..My dad was a huge fan 🤘
The whole album is metal top 10 for sure
'Sign of the Southern Cross' and 'Over and Over' off the Mob Rules album, are two of the best and probably the most underrated Sabbath songs from the Dio era, both are Iommi masterpieces. Check them out.
Lonely is the word... Classic
