Oh my god, I've experienced the "poop's stuck, time to drop a bucketful of water into the toilet" some times. Sometimes it's not even poop, but somebody forgetting that our 3rd world toilets are garbage that will get stuck with just a bit of toilet paper for some unfathomable reason, and they just threw a bit in there instead of in the trashbin that's right next to them.

Bro the most guiltiest are those who try to flush down used sanitary napkins in the toilet. I had a horrible experience where I had to take out someone else's used napkin to unclog the toilet (you can't flush that shit down, that pad's got the strength of Jupiter). God dammit it should be common knowledge that people shouldn't flush down used sanitary napkins 😭

@@JarlBalgruff_ my mum used to do the same and then wondered why the toilet was clogged. I had to fish it out with my own hands and I can’t say that was fun

6:08 Joey's right, pouring a bucket of water into the toilet bowl to flush it always works. I've done that many times and most of the time it works. The only time where one time is not enough is when there is still a bit of poop still floating in the toilet bowl, so need to pour a second time. The usual flush does the job all the time but I just did the water pouring when the bowl has not enough water to flush it or the flush lever doesn't work at all.

I'm from Harlem NY until we replaced our old boiler for electrical heater. It was always an issue with the boiler so my mom would do. Hot water on the stove, run a bath and pour some hot water in

Back in the '90s, Victoria Australia, the gas plant blew up. So we were without gas for a week in winter. I got by by boiling a 2 litre electric kettle and adding that to a 10 litre bucket. It was just the right temperature. Stand in the bath, wet myself a bit, soap up the important bits, and use the rest to rinse. I found it surprising how little water you actually need to wash, if you use it carefully.

2:57 Enough water to put in the water tank to flash it.
Me an Southeast asian: grabs a bucket with enough water to directly flash it. Funny thing is most toilets here dont have a flashing mechanism lol.

Out here, hot water gets turned off for around a week or two each year in the summer for maintenance (which I think no one actually does). So you do it the oldschool way, boil a kettle of water and add it into a plastic tub full of cold water, then use a scoop to clean yourself.

    • @ideadlift20kg83
      @ideadlift20kg83 ปีที่แล้ว

Here there are just maintenance 4-8x a year for 9a.m-3p.m on some Wednesday or something. The places that don't these always just end up getting their maintenance abruptly when something breaks.

I am thinking that is total bs.
There is no flap. Tiolet flush with the syphoning effect.
It will ”flush"/syphon as soon as the water level is high enough. (Given that is not blocked somewhere.)
You can induce the higher water level by flushing harder with a bucket (with less total amount of water).
But it has nothing to do with a flap.

This reminded me of a horror story I experienced in India. All toilets in SEA are horrific, but man, Indian toilets are the worst, it's like literally playing gacha whether you'll get cholera or not most of the time (source: I am Indian).
I used to be part of NCC (Pseudo-militaryish) in college, and once I remember, we had to stay in a camp for 8 days, and man, I never thought I'd find a toilet worse than a normal Indian toilet there. At least if you're a guy you can get away with it, but as a girl, you automatically take the L lol. Combined with women who don't know how to throw sanitary napkins and threw it in the flush. So, for 33 people in a dorm who lived like monkeys, we only had 2 bathrooms in total.. And the bathroom didn't even have a working flush and even worse, didn't have constant water supply, we had to forgo bathing for 5 days because we needed that water in the buckets to wash our asses and flush down the shit and that was more important than taking a bath.
TL;DR: Having water to flush toilets is a privilege.

One time a water pipe burst at my house, and it took a week for the plumber to get there. I didn't wash. I only used about 2L a day for drinking and cooking. And one bucket a day to flush the dunny if I did a crap. I mostly just pissed outside. The garden likes the nitrogen. :)

  • @julesk3816

my apartment's water was cut off for 4-5 days in the middle of winter after maintenance led to a major burst pipe. it was originally expected to only last a few hours, so i had prepped SOME water for flushing via bucket and for washing my hands, but i ran out pretty fast. they finally installed some port-a-potties out back on the second last day, but using those things in -20 Celsius weather in the middle of the winter, in pitch black night? it was so cold the faucet didn't even work! not a memory i think back on fondly.

I did that for 2 months when I joined the military but before that... Camping was a week with no real shower(did boil a pot of water just to have a warm after wash afterwards so... there's that)

what kind of shit boiler do you guys have? we have a tankless boiler running on natural gas and we can take showers all day long. A system with a tank would be more efficient but if you have a small tank then you'd need to wait a while for the water to heat back up
