It's interesting because the airplane fits the same criteria that Garnt used to define why submarines suck. We like planes more because flying is cool but they're essentially air submarines

While I don't ski nor like it much, I have to defend skis as a mode of transportation. They are great in the snow for getting around easily. Also, there are different types of skis, not all of them are for racing down hills, and you can very much get up a hill on skis, you just zigzag or sidestep. I mean come on, Norwegians and Finns defended their countries on skis in WW2 very effectively, especially the Finns. Honestly, I like skis more as a mode of transportation than I do for fun. Trains should be above busses, and busses should be above cars. I like driving, but having to do that any time I want or need to go somewhere does become a pain. I'd rather have frequent bus services than having to drive. And trams should be equal to or above busses, especially of the trams have their own dedicated paths many places, they're like a proper minitrain for shorter distances then.
Anything on tracks are a lot more efficient compared to anything on rubber wheels by and order of 7 times (or at least according to something I've read a while back) so trams are preferred by engineers over buses.
