So much optimism and aspiration in these commercials, sad looking back knowing what the future became. Especially how far Australian has fallen in the space of 30 years.

How could you leave out the Holden SS Thunder ad where it’s basically just a Ute doing donuts in a cyclone to Thunderstruck by AC/DC. It’s the most iconic Aussie car ad

Even as a kid I realised how cars were styled after aircraft. From the fins of the '50s to the stark lines of the '80s. It's a shame SUV's are everywhere now. From blocking my vision when pulling out of a car-park to having overpowered headlights placed at head height. SUV's make every aspect of driving worse.

I remember a tv ad around 83 when I was around 8 , a car going over a cliff and smashing, and a cockotoo squarking at the same time .It's been haunting me for years as I can't think of what it was about .
Can't say I remember that one, could have been a drink drive ad? I used to love the Marshall battery ad. The one where they brake down on the train tracks, and the train is coming, then the dude is like "MARSHALL", he rocks up in his van, fits the battery and they just get off the tracks in time.

One day, they were rear ended at 60 km/h...both seat squabs _snapped off at the base,_ leaving them staring at the ceiling! The car was a write off...good thing they still had a car to drive at home.
THATS THE THING, you didn't need to "work" on japanese imports with regular servicing they lasted forever compared to any piece of garbage found on rubbish dump or commonwhore

True - the Camry was mediocre in looks but one of the most reliable cars on the planet.
They were a bit gutless too, but very well put together and solid as a rock.
My uncle brought a brand new Camry in 1988 and put 1/2 a million ks on it lol
