We Canadians are a weirder bunch than Americans realize , You know what is said about Canadians living in this cold land? We are all here because we are not all there! HA.
I love that you're checkin out primus...maybe try some Ween? Its equally odd and those guys do some amazing covers, like "Let's Dance" by David Bowie, "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen, "All of my Love" by Led Zeppelin, etc. PLUS their original stuff is weird/funny/extraordinary. From "Freedom of '76" to "Big Jilm" to "Transdermal Celebration"...I REALLY think you would dig them. AND they're from New Hope, PA.
The video is one camera doing one shot. All that background stuff had to be choreographed and performed perfectly to be done in one shot with no edits. They may have won an mtv award for the video. All their videos are good, funny and weird at the same time and are directed by Les Claypool.
Mtv snubbed them by not giving them a nomination. There is a DVD commentary with the band, most of the people in the background are close friends and other musicians from the bay area
I never heard of Mr. Bungle so I searched the tubes and found a bunch of video's. So I clicked on one at random, Pink Cigarette. What the fuck did I just watch and why am I pulling up another one?
Back in the day, AOL music put them in their own genre simply named "Primus" - I think your own name is better, but I love that little factoid. What other bands/songs would fit into this category? Not a lot mix old time country/folk/blues with contemporary music - Modest Mouse has a lot of songs like that (Devil's Workday, Jesus Christ was an Only Child, King Rat come to mind) but they're hardly progressive.
Funny thing is, Audacity (the old school sound editor) has had since it's first version the music genre "Primus" as an option when exporting a track. The Devs were huge fans and felt they are their own genre...I agree :)
According to Les Claypool: “‘Mr. Krinkle’ is basically about conversations I used to have with Mike Bordin. Mike Bordin, his hotel room name was "Mr. Krinkle.” If you read the lyrics or listen to the song, it’s basically about conversations with Mike. He’s a huge San Francisco Giants fan, and there was all this talk that the Giants were going to move from San Francisco. So, “Hey there, Mr. Krinkle, how are you today? Seems the rumors are abound your team might move away.” And he was really pissed off about this! “Hey there, Mr. Krinkle, let’s cruise the bastard boat"- we used to go out on my boat. The thing about Mike, he is one of these guys like Mike Watt - he has a very interesting perspective on things, and he’s really good at tossing out these colorful little quips, on how he perceives things. So we would have these great conversations on the phone.”
I was in tears watching you watch this! I do know which is more hilarious. You watching the Mr. Krinkle video is actually funnier than the Mr. Krinkle video itself. Don't stop watching Primus, the band is good, but you watching them is BETTER! Just seeing the look of befuddlement on your face is priceless!

You are right about Primus being one of the most unique bands to emerge. Mr Krinkle is a song and video you have to watch over and over and still not know WTF is going on. Great band
I can remember seeing this for the first time as a little kid late night on MTV. I was creeped out and intrigued at the same time. My first rock show years later was primus in the mid 90s. It was great.
Damn it man, u are steadily becoming my favorite reaction channel!!! You're just so open minded & willing to take the ride, it really is greatly appreciated & more importantly needed😉 Much ❤️ from Bama 🙋♀️💕
Primus is actually considered their own genre of music. This video actually wan awards and nominations because it is one live action shot that had to be carefully choreographed. None has compared since. Can you imagine trying to coordinate this? Les Claypool is considered the best bassist in the world and is a true artist.
The 90's had the best music videos and Primus never failed to deliver with the most "WTF is going on?" of any band of that time. I have nothing but admiration for the effort that went into creating this crazy visual masterpiece. PRIMUS SUCKS!
They are an amazing live act. I've only seen them 4 times and Les Claypool another time in another band he fronts with John Lennon, Sean Lennon, called The Lennon Claypool Delerium. Great band, Les Claypool (the lead singer, bassist of primus) wackiness and the echoing of Beatles vocals from Sean Lennon, who happens to sound very similar to his father.
Yes, Les Claypool did some very odd yet very Wild Videos back in the day. HE LOOKS LIKE A DIFFERENT GUY IN EVERY SINGLE VIDEO TOO! If I recall correctly, this was all done in the 90's before youtube. I Love your Videos Jamel. Love em' ! Btw, Ever watch Southpark? Primus is the band that does the opening song and has since it's Pilot.

Brisn Doty it’s actually about a friend of his. It’s in his book “Over the Electric Grapevine”, he talks about how one of his friends used that as an alias when he checked into hotels. His football team moved away from his home town and that’s where the next opening line comes from. “Hello, Mr. Krinkle... how are you today? It seems the rumors are abound, your team might move away.”
Been digging through your vids, and I really like how you can respect guys like this. JUST know the amount of talent these guys have and that they choose to play the goofy crunchy but sooooo refined rifts, loads of talent.

Trump's Neck Vagina I remember seeing this for the first time on Rage (Australia) at about 3am. I just sat there with no idea of what I just saw but that bass was stuck in my head.
According to Les Claypool himself, this song was about conversations he used to have with a singer from another rock band (I believe it was the singer from the band “Faith No More”). The singer of the other band (referred to here as “Mr. Krinkle”) was thinking about and eventually did leave the band. Les says “Mr. Krinkle, tell me why” repeatedly throughout the song. Les’ opinion was that “Mr. Krinkle” should have stuck it out.
Loved this! Thank you for listening to our pleas to react to Mr. Krinkle. Not even going to try to justify this one, you either love it or go 'boing' WTF just happened in my head.
Primus is great and it's different for everyone bc he tells a "Nursery Rhyme" from the magical land that is Primus. Southbound Pachyderm would be a great one to enjoy as well.
I've been trying to figure out Les since High school when they started. Songs like Winona are pretty obvious. Just try diving into the rainbow goblins on their new album. Prob better off just enjoying the musical side, which is incredible
The first time I ever heard this song was when I saw this video. I was asleep on the couch and woke up seeing this about 2 a.m. I thought I was still asleep and having a nightmare. Creepy!
“Hands down the most unique band known to mankind”huh?I assume your speaking visually, and if that’s the case, you should try GWAR(that’s a band),then see if you feel the same way.
“You cannot deny the sound!.. but what the hell is going on?!” is both the best summation and review of Primus I’ve heard.

@@raoulduke3770 X2 I just stopped the video to type this same damn phrase lmao
