The lyrics are not always nonsense. "Mrs. Blaileen" "Bob" "Seargeant Baker" "American Life" all have very important messages. Do not dismiss Primus lyrics out of hand!
@@Kevin-dn8qe i feel like people think the lyrics are nonsense because its precise and abstract. Research goes a long way. This is coming from a former battle rapper. To me lyrics are everything, Primus is definitely a staple in abstract lyricism in all genres. Les is a genius an those bass lines are so gritty and distinct. Irreplaceable, timeless music.
Even these lyrics aren't nonsense. I have no idea who Mr. Krinkle is supposed to be, but claypool is singing about local (to him - Bay area/California) conservation issues and the environment vs other monied and entrenched interests.
This entire music video was shot in one take, which is pretty impressive. Loving the Primus reactions. Remember, each one of their albums has a completely different vibe/sound but you know its still Primus. This songs off Pork Soda, Their darker album for sure from 94.
Mr. Krinkle is a pretty excellent example of primus' blend of skill, creativity and strangeness. Nothing against the pieces you mention, but they are much more straightforward musically and compositionaly. American life being the exception, musical complexity-wise
Fun fact: The guy pushing the cart with an umbrella toward the end of the video is Bryan "Brain" Mantia, who would later serve as Primus' drummer for a few years and record two albums and an EP with them.
It's just cool that they are absolute top of the line musicians but they know how to have a whole lot of fun LOL. Definitely a style of their own. I'm glad you liked it!
I had the privilege to see them on their Pork Soda tour and it was just like this. Stand up bass and all. The opening cartoons were the best! Dancing hotdogs! Who was there?
hey man, do you want to hear something really badass? check out their rendition of "the Devil Went Down to Georgia". it has a bunch of claymation that is siiiiiick... and some violins of course. peace be upon you bro.
oh yeah: you should hurry up and get you an electric guitar... closest thing to a magic wand. you don't need to pay a bunch of money for one but you do want one that plays well. the tone is mostly the pickups and you can replace those at any time if you want ones that sound different... just make sure somebody in the biz checks it out for playability cuz that's what's going to make you stick with it. if you want sustain- get one that weighs a bunch and does not have a vibrato type Bridge (a "whammy bar")... if you want one that does distortion well (overdriving the input stage of an amplifier)... then get one with really "hot" pickups (high output, usually a set of "humbuckers" will suffice). if you want a brighter more bell-like sound... then lower output single coils like a strat has or something similar. I could go on... often I do. rock on man.
I hope you keep doing more Primus, though I'd like to suggest something not by them. Nirvana, Where Did You Sleep Last Night from MTV Unplugged. I see you've done some Nirvana songs, but unless you tried and the video was block it looks like you haven't done that song.

Thank you for saying that. It's totally true. Even this song. They aren't a "lyric band," but their lyrics aren't just nonsense.
@@Kevin-dn8qe Les Claypool is a poet, and that needs to be appreciated!
Too many puppy’s is a deep song. Frizzle Fry on the other hand 😂

It's just cool that they are absolute top of the line musicians but they know how to have a whole lot of fun LOL. Definitely a style of their own. I'm glad you liked it!

Fun Fact about this video. It was so controversial at the time that MTV refused to air the music video.
I had the privilege to see them on their Pork Soda tour and it was just like this. Stand up bass and all. The opening cartoons were the best! Dancing hotdogs! Who was there?
