    Hi Stripey,
I have a fondness for all the old 70s Kung Fu films.
My brother is 11 years older than me and he watched them all on Oxford Road studios in Manchester in the 70s.
King Boxer and all the others.
    Lucky sod!😅
The Cavern sets in GOD 11.
I swear they were the original sets from Enter as they looked so alike.
    Another thing.
Bruce's monk scene in this film.
The very first part when he comes on with Roy Chaio

    • @antonysmith6457
      @antonysmith6457 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Sorry about my comment here Stripey.
I accidentally sent it to you without finishing it off!😳
As I mentioned, the Roy Chiao scene.
I've noticed the navy blue suit Bruce wears is really clear colour wise.
I've seen the 4K print of Enter and it's no way as clear as this in regards to the colour sharpness of his suit.
Why do you think this is?
Is it because it's the chinese print
      of this film?
I've seen the TV print and even that colour is better than the 4K print, in my opinion anyway.
Many thanks and looking forward to seeing you next month in Leeds.
      Warmest wishes!
      Tony and Kim 👍

I preferred GOD 2 over the 1978 version we got. Take out the Bruce Lee clips . This is a stand alone good movie. It should have been called Tower of death and been a credited as a stand alone. Kim tai-Chung is a great fighter in his own right and this movie is a good movie when you remove all the Bruce references. I watched Korean version many years ago and preferred that cut.Great review stripey.

Game Of Death 2 is great. Some good fight scenes. I've loved the Micheal Worth and the other guys commentry on the film. I also watched the Way Of The Dragon commentary with Michael Worth, brilliant. He's done some good martial art films. He was on the Bruce Willow Podcast on TH-cam a while bk, i need to watch it again sometime. I started watching a bit of the korean version. I love Kim Tai-Chung. Its a pity he wasn't in more martial art films as No Retreat No Surrender and the 1978 Game Of Death version were great. My favourite fight scene in Game Of Death is when he fights Bob Wall in the locker room. Also the music playing while he fights the guards after he's tryed to strangle Dean Jagger the tempo and flow of the fight and time is just spot on, love it.

Nice review mate. Obviously im a huge Bruce fan but I'm also a massive Hong Kong Cinema enthusiast and I love Game Of Death 2. International version with the dub is my favourite. Its a guilty pleasure and has some great fight scenes.
If you haven't already heard it, I highly recommend you listen to the audio commentary with Roy Horan and Bey Logan (HKL DVD), some great stories about Hwang Jang Lee.
Also its worth buying the Snake In The Eagles Shadow blu ray from 88 Films, it contains Roy Horan's last amazing interview in which he discusses a proposed death match with him and HJL and describes how HJL killed two people in real life.
Keep up the great work mate, cheers.

Great vlog Stripey and as always, you give a respectful overview and that in my opinion is what people should do, Constructive criticism. I for one are not a fan of GOD 2 but if it appeals to those, then fantastic. Snake in Eagles shadow + Drunken Master, Great Movies that you mentioned in your vlog. We have seen some really good to great martial art movies since Bruce, I wont name all the actors and all the movies but - Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jean Claude Van Damme, Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris and Scott Adkins to name a few but non will be as memorable as the Bruce Lee movies, you have got to ask yourself why? Choreography / Martial arts skills that look real and not staged / Story line / Soundtrack / Memorable Bad Person or persons / Acting / good ensemble cast...put these together and you have a Win, but seldom do in my opinion, certainly in the past few years, but there are standout movies that have succeeded in the past from all the above people mentioned and certainly in my collection. I just feel when you look at a new Steven Seagal, Van Damme, Jackie, Donnie, Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins etc movies coming out, you look at the trailer and see what I feel is a generic movie that I just don't' care about, Gun's, infiltrate, Blah, Blah, few action fight scenes and then 1.5 hours of time wasted. These movies need characters we care and invest in, strip back all the gun's and get back to basics, showcase the talents of these martial arts, that makes us go WOW, well that's my opinion of what I would like to see in martial arts movies today, sometimes less is more, I'm sure most of them want to give a great performance but are given the material they are given and so the pursuit goes on...Keep up the Great work, it is very much appreciated....👍

there was a very rare trailer provided by Andrew Stanton , GOD 2 provides some unused footage at the time and had some great fights, Kim tai Chung did a great job !, Hwang Jeng Lee's kicking as always is amazing ,the transfer is the best I've seen , I always remember seeing Kim tai Chung in No Retreat No Surrender as Bruce !

After I had the misfortune of watching 'The legend of Bruce lee' (AKA Goodbye Bruce Lee') back in the early 80's, I was put off Bruce lee clones forever. Hi Stripey. A nice open minded review mate. I did rent it on VHS from the local blockbusters back in the 80's and only for the ETD outtakes. Although the fight choreography is very well done it doesn't flow realistically like a Bruce Lee fight scene does. Its sort of one step punch, two steps back and kick and then back again .Kind of like the sword fights in old hollywood pictures. I think it would be difficult for me to watch again. So for now it will stay inside the Arrow box set. I do agree with you that the 1978 GOD is far more exploitive than GOD2 though. All the best.

Always good to hear your perspective. Personally, I have never been able to get past the first 15 minutes. As the years have passed, and now, in my old age, my affinity, (what little there ever was) for "Bruceploitation" is nonexistent. Back in '73-'75 going to an ancient, decaying old movie palace to see Bruce Li, or Bruce Le was sort of fun. As we obviously weren't ever going to get any more "real" Bruce Lee films, we were forced to make do with an endless river of "schlock" and our imaginations. In some ways I feel that these "films" get more credit now than they deserve, considering the motivation behind them was shameless grave-robbing and money-grabbing from a less than informed international audience starving for anything that would remind them of their fallen idol. For collectors and "completists," I can certainly understand the appeal, but for me, I will make do with either a 300th plus viewing of Enter the Dragon, or the recent "Mandarin cut" of The Big Boss. Keep up the great work. I appreciate your channel very much.

Hi Stripey, I grew up watching the Game of Death in 1978 since it was on the Bruce Lee collection, but the game of Death II wasn't there, so I watched it when I was a bit older. I did like Game of Death 1978 growing up, but I always say to myself, Bruce, in the game of death, he seems slow and a bit weak. I never noticed it wasn't him until when I watched the game of Death II, then when I realized oh this is not Bruce Lee. When I watched 78, the version started to notice the same thing. I was always troubled with the 2 scenes when Bruce got beaten up by the doctor crew. I always ask myself why Bruce Lee is so weak in this movie. But I don't know the 81 game of death it's okay it's a great Bruce ploitation. The 78 version is okay, but only problem they kinda made him weak, and I feel like Robert clouse should have used more minutes of the 72 version.

I agree it’s a good film too. Thanks for these reviews mate. I could def come down and have a pint with you and watch a couple of Bruce films mate, I think we are very like minded about the films. You also mentioned Jackie Chan films, do you watch those as much as the Bruce ones? One of my all time favourites is Dragon Fist, the KF action there is excellent. If you ever get thin on Bruce material mate, Jackie is another good one to cover

Hi mate, I'm not a fan of GoD 2 (aka Tower), a few of my mates watched it recently on Sky and simply said WTF??
It's poor from a Bruce perspective, but bonkers as a "kung fu" movie.
Mr Chow certainly knew how to milk his golden cash cow...
    Hope your well mate 👍

Give me GOD II / Tower Of Death over GOD '78 any day of the week. It's actually a good fun kung fu movie. GOD '78 is a disgusting cash grab. Raymond didn't want to just release the footage Bruce had shot so we got this. My advice watch 'A Warrior's Journey' or 'The Final Game Of Death' if you want to see those fight scenes.

Maybe you can clear something up because I'm Still a little Confused about Lee's death. So instead of calling an ambulance when she Couldn't wake Bruce, Betty called Raymond Chow he came over & Couldn't wake him either & then an Ambulance was Finally Called ?? 😔😔

    • @jwfloating-world
      @jwfloating-world หลายเดือนก่อน

There is even more to it than that. It took Raymond Chow 40 minutes to get to her apartment. After he could not wake Bruce, they called Betty Ting Pei's doctor, who in turn phoned for the ambulance. Then he told the driver's to go to Queen Elizabeth hospital which was further away🤷‍♂. At the inquest Raymond said, "I did not consider that time was a factor." Possibly admitting Bruce was already dead.🤔

A rubbish film but if you forget about the Bruce Lee elements and watch it purely as a kung fu movie it is not bad, and the fights are decent. Not sure why Golden Harvest did not try for II to be aimed more at International audiences like the 1978 GOD was, maybe they did not want to risk putting a big budget in to it and thought demand had waned. Whilst GOD II fight scenes are decent, they are not great and not exciting, the end fight goes on so long, you really could not care in the end who wins or loses.

There is a scene in which a prositute turns up (believe it or not but a real one hired by the producers) she is high as a kite.......plus there is another hilarious scene as well.
