    This song is for and about Eugene Shoemaker. He was a planetary scientist and was a candidate for an Apollo mission until he was found to have Addison's disease. He died in the 1997 and his ashes were interred on the moon in the crater that was named for him. The urn containing his remains bears that quote from Shakespeare.
    Also,
    Laudato si = Praise be
    Ad astra = to the stars

    • @joop558
      @joop558 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Laudato si means Thou will be honered or praised. Ad astra is as a shoutout and means to the stars. It also sung in two parts not ever after each other like one sentence. Si is important in this case.

      @@joop558 yes exactly you are right. It is Praise for Shoemaker. You can see it as: Praise be to you oh Shoemaker, all the way to the stars.

    Laudato Si Ad Astra; Praise be unto the Stars. This song is in honour of Gene Shoemaker, father of Planetary science. His dream was to go to the moon with Apollo but he unfortunately didn't make it due to his Addisons diagnosis. After his death, some of his ashes were sent along with the Lunar Prospector probe and 'buried' on the moon 'now you've been tucked in for eternal earthrise'. His Urn is inscribed with that quote from Shakespeare. As I listen to the lyrics more I'm hearing an ode to the renewed space race of today, getting back to the moon, using it as a base for deep exploration 'a way-point to the far', joining Gene once again 'we're coming to join you'. He is also the Shoemaker of Shoemaker-Levy 9, the first comet to be observed impacting a planet.

    I just wish there were no time zones as I live in Finland and by the time I get to these reactions everything worth saying has already been said. However, I can say that for me Nightwish's music is best enjoyed with your eyes closed not to be distracted by any visuals, with the exception of live performances & Floor on stage. To fully appreciate the new album one should listen to the music from a CD with audiophile quality on-ear closed headphones.
    P.S. The quote from Romeo & Juliet is spoken by Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela.

    This song is an Ode to Eugene Shoemaker. Google him and you will understand the words to this song. Laudato si' (English: Praise Be to You!) is also the second encyclical of Pope Francis. The encyclical has the subtitle "on care for our common home". Ad Astra means “to the stars. Great to see you two and hope you are doing well and staying safe. It will be better soon. Peace.

    The end phrase is praise all to the universe. Obviously links with Shoemaker's work with NASA. The first two words are the title of a poem by Francis of Assisi from the 13th century.

    "Laudato si" is Old Italian (from Dante maybe?) for "be praised". "Ad astra" of course means "to the stars". I sincerely hope they'll perform this live, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

    • @oliphant2848
      @oliphant2848 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Manveru31 Laudato Si is in fact not Latin, but indeed older Italian, from the 13th century, and meanwhile I learned that it is from a hymn by St. Francis of Assisi. Ad Astra is in fact Latin. These two phrases do not form one sentence, they're from two different languages.
