Don't know if you know, but to a lot of climbers in Germany, when it comes to knowledge on MBS of gear and conclusions on appropriate use, you are a main reference.

I appreciate what you are doing. Been watching since about 2017. Did a search on carabiner breaking strength and your channel came up. I think you were still using your van but quickly went to the vertical hydraulic puller at which point I was hooked. I do technical rope rescue for the county in which I live so being able to have a visual reference that backs up what the numbers all say is very helpful when we are teaching new people on the team. And as being a visual and tactile learner I will not be changing to a written format because I learn best by seeing and touching what I need to learn. Ergo I watch all your crazy stuff and laugh and have a great time. Keep up the great work.

Regarding comparing yourself to other people, I gained this little nugget recently:
"Comparison is the thief of joy."
So think on that and what it says about finding satisfaction.
Thank you Ryan for being such a genuine person in these.

Been watching since spring 2020. It was right after my son was born, and I was watching a lot of TH-cam while up late feeding him. I distinctly remember one of these update videos where you mentioned getting close to 10k followers but didn’t expect to get much beyond there because what you were doing was too niche. Happy to see how much farther things have come!

In 2016 while in Japan I saw a guy learning to slack line (two trees a foot off the ground) I was intrigued by the set up and physics. And shortly after this I found your videos and really enjoyed them. (You were always concerned about safety - which I absolutely respect. Wing suits are cool... but I won't watch these because it seems reckless). Then there was a few years I probably dropped back. In 2020 I decided to learning sailing -- ropes... I found you again. I just love the physics, the testing, your thinking!, the interesting results. And absolutely the Grisgris and pulleys being pulled off axis - that's happened to me! You think whatever you're doing is well within parameters-- but there's a bit of off axis vector... and stuff breaks. Wheels/tires especially. I love finding combinations and knots that significantly lower the strength. Not only critical information to be aware of, but expanding my thinking to include all the factors that affect strength. (As once a carpenter, and a science teacher and nerd/DIY guy I know there are things framing carpenters know that physics professors don't know and vice versa. When you asked about your cam set up and it was obvious to me it was a Second Class Lever.... I've been there. Once you learn all this stuff a lot of it just becomes clear and you have more options.
Great episode. Another one where I think 57 minutes?? I ain't got time for that... And then I watch it all. Thanks.

I started watching this channel around February of 2024, when I started top roping in a gym. Bc of this channel, and a few other channels that I trust, I’ve learned how to lead, rappel, multi pitch, aid, trad, top rope solo, and lead rope solo, as well as what to use climbing gear for, and more importantly, how not to use it. Without this channel, I wouldn’t be planning my first trip to El Cap rn, so many thanks to Ryan and his team!

Want to say I've been watching for about 5 to 6 years. I seen your video and got all excited to go do a big wall, with no climbing experience at all. Thankfully, I quickly figured out how dumb of a idea that would be. But thanks to you I've been climbing in a gym that is a hour drive away for about 8 months and am lead certified. Most of my important gear I've ordered from you. On a side know thank you from the free slings that you extended the promotion for me a day earlier since my order was on a Friday. I'm still waiting to see if the gm climbing dyneema slings from Amazon are good enough.

Learned how to do it safely and now I get weird looks from some neighbours but mostly smiles and the kids love it! I warched on and off for about a year 6 years ago then pretty much every video, had to check your old videos and frst videos were whoopie sling and soft shackle as im into hammocks and then i looked at your current videos at the time and it was around sewn loop test and basics of highlining.
Im mostly interested in sailing, hammocking and started climbing trees few months back.
I find that you do provide actionable information. Its not always the final wod on the thing and rhe while exploration of the topic begins but pretty much on every instructional, brake test, interview there's something not only ""that's interesting " but actually useful in making decisions on what to use, what to actually focus on.
And i love the approach of showing proper and inproper ways and actual consequences.
And i think you erring so hard on the side of not pushing your stuff makes it "leek out" more naturally.
    Thanks for all the work!

i started watching late 2016 or early 2017. I have a little experience climbing, 95% gym, and some sport. I've since setup a slackline in the yard. I've some experience in rope rescue from ages ago and big on sailing. I'm a huge fan of knots.
I'm fascinated with the engineering aspect of the channel. Love when you bring in other sports. Love the behind the scenes. Watched your business videos too. No issues with you promoting the store.

I've been watching since 2017 or 2018, your work has been pivotal to my understanding of gear. I've seen as you get more popular more and more climbers are knowledgeable about their gear. You've made a huge impact to the community!

Have been watching since probably 2019 or so, so I've seen the growth and change of your channel--it's absolutely amazing to see you sticking to your core mission of providing quality information to gear people trust their life with, even thought there are now so many layers around that. I deeply appreciate and respect your commitment to sharing and transparency! By TH-cam metrics, whatever, maybe you can be considered successful, maybe not. But the amount of impact you've had on the cumulative knowledge of climbers/slackliners/riggers/whatever and the bond of the community around the channel is amazing. All the best to you Ryan!

have you talked with any archivists? collating diverse data sets into searchable systems is one of their things. I saw some of your stuff around 2017~18, and have been popping in and out checking out your stuff.

Been watching since 2021, thanks for putting out quality content and being a such a genuine person on the internet. You got me into slacklining, and massively improved my understanding (and I also think the quality of the general discussion) of climbing gear. Many, many thanks! 🙏 🙏 🙏
P.s. I hope you get to pay yourself a salary soon, you more than deserve it.
