For the dream, a common theory is that since Steven and Connie are fused together as Stevonnie, so are their dreams. So while Steven is having this Diamond dream, it has a bit of a Connie twist to it. Dr. Maheswaran and Yellow Diamond get mixed together, likely because Connie and Pink see them in a similar light. It helps that the VA's for Dr. Maheswaran and Yellow Diamond sound somewhat similar.
I never realized it but in the convo with yellow and nephrite, it technically shows that there were other gems hesitant about killing the life on other planets

Just a fun trivia tidbit, "Jungle Moon" is the only episode of Steven Universe that Steven isn't actually in!

Lion can make portals, but he had to make several just to get to the moon, and it took a lot out of him to do that. Going deep into space is probably not feasible.
I think it takes a lot of guts for a show to write its protagonists in truly unflattering ways. Which is why I've always liked how Lars acts in "Lars of the Stars" when he gets hung up on Sadie hanging out with the Cool Kids. Because the writers didn't need to make Lars act like that. They could have just kept him as a cool space pirate for the whole episode, and I know many people would have preferred that. So then why make Lars so unflattering, to the point where both of your reactions start so negative? To where you might even feel "vindicated" that he's a crappy guy that deserves to be hated on?
Because it's a much more real story, as Sputnik mentions. It's only been a few weeks since Lars has turned pink. He's still just a teenager. And as much as media may try to convince us otherwise, singular big events don't always completely change a person. Lars is clearly changing and growing, but it's a process. Like you mention, there will be setbacks. And while it may feel bad to see Lars taking a step back even after coming so far, the reality is, that happens. Lars is still Lars even if he is pink, dying didn't fundamentally change who he is. And the way Lars behaves here, his obsession with being cool, his pettiness and self-pity, is quintessential Lars. I was glad to see some of that old Lars in there. This isn't some completely different character. It's the same Lars, just grown a bit over a few weeks.
It's a really common trope in a lot of media for a character to go through some kind of big event and then become a completely different person afterwards. And while that can happen, I'm happy to see SU present a different, more realistic take on the trope. Even going back a bit, dying and turning pink was not what caused Lars to mature at all, despite the way many people talk about it. Lars had already grown and matured when he decided to push through his fear to defend the Off-Colors, something he couldn't do before even to save Sadie. Lars chose to change himself, which felt much more real than just having him die and come back a completely different person. So I appreciated that the show continued to keep things real with Lars and showed that he's still himself in this episode, even if it was unflattering. Because reality is unflattering a lot of the time. That SU, a children's cartoon, chooses to embrace that truth while so many other shows ignore it is honestly impressive to me.
There was a pretty popular theory that Kevin’s ex Sabina he mentions is the same mysterious pink-haired girl who gave pearl her number with only the initial ‘S’ so take that as you will
It’s probably a coincidence but I mean a cool legit punk girl like that totally seems like the type a poser like Kevin would fawn over, given how much he praises Stevonnie for being ‘so real’ 😅
Oh and I have a theory about Padparadsha’s ‘past vision’ I think it’s something closer to hindsight. How else would she know that Emerald missed on purpose without being told, or that Lars was pressing the wrong button? She doesn’t just have ‘past vision’ she’s able to see the recent past from a more objective position that could potentially reveal details nobody noticed before. That’s my theory anyway.
I agree with this. I personally first saw its real value in when she said Garnet was making the off-colours uncomfortable, which Garnet appeared to not realise until it was spelled out to her

I kinda wanna incorporate that power into an oc now because in certain circumstances it could be unbelievably useful, it only seems pointless on the surface

8:30 the mentioning of a person named “Sabina”, SU fandom was left to speculate that that’s the name of the Mystery Girl with pink hair that Pearl took a liking to, since Sabina is the name of a type of flower, just like Rose. I don’t think it was ever explicitly confirmed, as we never see Mystery Girl again due to the series being cut short, but I think it’s a strong theory!
it's... *interesting* seeing you wonder about rose's morality, shattering pink diamond even though she's so much like a child. just remember that gems are never really children, pink diamond was just particularly infantilized and spoiled (and as you said NOT gently "parented"), but she still "owned" Earth. she had to go. you'll see it's more complicated than just that too. i love your reactions and analysis, you really give this show the time and intelligent discussion it deserves.
I love that because Stevonnie is a fusion, when Steven dreams of Yellow Diamond, Connie has never seen that gem. Therefore, their consciouses combine to make Yellow Diamond Dr. Maheswaran. Because Pink made childish demands of Yellow, Connie therefore imagines herself as a child interrupting mom's important work.
I think a few weeks have past since Steven got off Homeworld. While that does seem like a long time for Steven to NOT check on Larz, you have to remember that Lion was the only means of reaching him. And he only got him back just now.
I wish we got more Lars of the stars adventure episodes. It would’ve been a cool spin off. We could see Lars and the off colors on adventures . We’d be able to see other parts of space and the gems. Are there other aliens out there?

Pretty sure there were plans for more if the show wasn’t cut short because of the spoiler thing at the end of this season that Cartoon Network didn’t like. It’s a shame 😓

Oh yeah these are definitely some of my favorite episodes, but all Stevonnie episodes are my favorite so I'm biased lol. But to answer your questions about the timeline, at Steven tells Kevin it's been a few weeks since they last talked, and considering the facial hair growth on Stevonnie they were probably on the moon for at least 24 hours (afternoon, shave evening, next afternoon almost time to shave again? idk i'm afab lolol)

I love Kevin's "You're all so fake. You make me sick!" It just really drills home that this guy hates everything about this life but because of his upbringing its the only way he knows how to feel like a person. Sabina leaving probably really hurt him. Poor guy.

Okay...after listening to what Steven said, maybe he did a bad thing by acting like him being captures was nothing.
HOWEVER, it doesn't make Connie any less wrong for what SHE did either. In fact, what SHE did to Steven, distancing herself from him, feels almost like what Steven did
