I loved every last second of the journey to get here (yes even the seconds where pumpkin was on screen😂) I'm so happy to you guys have come along on the journey with Indi and I and I'm so excited for what the movie and Steven Universe Future have in store!

Fun gemology fact: White and pink diamonds have the same crystal structure, the pink coloration comes from the intense compression of the structure instead of impurities like blue or yellow diamonds. That's why White "blushes" pink. She puts the most amount of pressure on herself.
I’m gonna be honest. I have heard so many of these gem related facts about Steven universe. Every single one could be made up but I still choose to take them all at face value lmao.

Looking back over the series, something I think it's amazing to realize - all this actually happened because of Pearl and her imagination. Rose was initially HER idea, not Pink Diamond's, and she's the one who imagined a future where she and Rose could be free of their roles and just exist together outside of the strict structure of Homeworld's empire. The entire arc of the show actually occured because an enslaved person was able to dream.

A theory I've seen around is about the small window, gems are made out of light, so a dark room with barely some light would basically mean they were actually starving Pink in their own way

I like to believe that since we saw Steven shed a tear when he sang the “Familiar” and a Pebble came to life, that means that every time Blue made Pink cry or every time Pink sat at her mirror and cried, Pebbles were created. And there are so many Pebbles so just imagine how much she’s sat and cried.
50:11 I started bawling my eyes out when this scene played. For Pearl and Garnet, it’s a bittersweet “we did it, it’s over”, that all of the choices they made, and everything they endured through the war, all of that heartache was worth it. They finally get to see the return of so many of their friends and Bismuth’s.

James Baxter is such a legendary animator who did so much work for Disney and Dreamworks, he did the scene for Steven's and Pink Steven's fusion all because Rebecca Sugar saved a favor from him to use at that very moment.
The finale was so beautiful and emotional. The new fusions were incredible and the songs were great. I enjoyed watching your reactions. Get ready for Steven Universe Future and the movie

30:17 the present obsidian has puffy hair cuz steven has fused. She initially had curly hair when Rose fused with them, and you can see that in that gigantic staute in the Gem temple 😏 thats the original Obsidian
I love the themes of white diamond. Sugar designed her around a vintage animated film aimed at adolencent girls telling them they need to be a certain way to be appealing and look perfect to the world. Shes based on narcissistic parents who control everything around them to suit an idea or image of perfection. Think of Mother Gothel from Tangled. A lot of people just see "evil dictator" which yeah it does fit those vibes, but when watching the show all I could see was my own mother. I would cry and my mom would yell at me calling me pathetic. Had physical expectations of me. And just like Pink I left my home and never looked back. If my mother could have ever reflected like white did with steven, I would have gone back and had a relationship. But my mom refused until the very end. I feel kids need to see these relationships and know that they can be themselves and stand up for those beliefs but also encourage healing and hopefully having family understand change.

One of the things that caused the discourse on SU to sour was Lily Orchard's video "Steven Universe is Garbage and Here's Why"
It's a long, terrible video made by someone with the media analysis skills of a barnacle or some other bottomfeeder - her tone is super aggressive, she makes ridiculous accusations (including calling Rebecca Sugar (who is Jewish) a facist sympathizer), and she deletes any dissenting comments, so the comment section is just an echochamber. This led passersby unfamiliar with SU to believe she's being accurate and intellectually honest (and these two things should never be used to describe Lily)
It led to a lot of internet flame wars and dragged the show's reputation through the mud. There have been multiple great response videos that break down just how poorly she understands a show designed for children.
There are also a lot of other controversial and messed up things in Lily's internet history, which other TH-camrs have covered as well
She's put out occasional updates (still terrible), & she recently posted about how she's taking it down because she has allegedly grown in her opinion, but it went back up almost immediately
@@starkid910 her update is basically just a slightly less harsh version of the original. And her excuse for the original is that she was being abused at the time, which like… sure. Assuming that’s true, that sucks a lot. And abused people aren’t perfect, they may lash out… which is why it’s so wild how harsh she always has been on Lapis, considering this is basically her entire backstory lol

There have been other things that happened in the fandom as well, like ship-war nonsense and super weird and agressive online bullying of both the creative team and fan artists. Part of the issue is how very young the fandom skewed while the show was airing. This isn't intended to hate on teenagers, who are still learning how to behave in the world, but whenever a significant chunk of a fandom is still in high school, the fandom kind of turns into high-school-but-with-no-consequences-for-being-awful-to-people.
That final song is what just broke me on the first watch. “I don’t need you to respect me, I respect me. I don’t need you to love me, I love me.” I heard those words when I needed them most and they always cut me to the heart

As others have said, don't feel bad about showing emotion. Being open, or getting attached to the setting or characters. There's nothing wrong with that.
But also, reaction channels are _great_ resources for creators. It takes a special story to make an audience cry, and for those who can't create that on their own, they can atleast see the story beats that pushed you that far.
apparently according to the steven universe art book: end of an era , the diamonds emerged at the same time from a dead planet 20,000 years ago . so they are probably the same age

when i found you guys channel. i caught up so quick i’m glad you guys gave this amazing reaction, i never got react emotionally like that when i watched the episode the night it was released I WANTED TO CRY SO BAD UGH but the tears didn’t roll in. But there so many parallels from this episode and other episodes. From Steven not being able to land on his own two feet with the crystal gems to him being able to lead and land on his own. From the unreleased pilot where garnet says he’s acting like a child, and he responded with I am a child what’s your excuse? It’s so much I really enjoyed both of your reactions it was so genuine and heart felt!! I can’t wait to react to you guys watching future and the movie!!❤️

16:20 Blue thought of Pink as failing homeworld, essentially flawed. Yellow saw Pink as a necessary part of homeworld (Telling Steven that Pink never failed to make her laugh). When Yellow envisioned her perfect world, she pictures Pink being there. She never thought of Pink as flawed, she thought she was already perfect. And the realization that she'd have to give up Pink existing to make the "perfect empire" destroys her because she's been living in that world for 7000 years miserably.

As for the discourse… people like to compare the Diamonds to Nazis, but it’s more akin to a narcissistic family. What they did to other worlds, was colonize them and use up all their resources till they were used up, is just… what humans do.

The bubbled gems aren’t in Garnet’s room. They’re in the Heart of the Temple. You only get glimpses of Garnet’s room, I think. I don’t remember for sure
realistically, steven was bleeding out without his gem, so he looked sick. if this show wasn't made for kids Im sure it would have been 10x more graphic. remember when pearl tried pulling steven's gem out when he was a baby? that would have killed him.
I did not expect this to bring back all the emotions I felt when first finishing the show myself, wow!

I watched this the day it came out, I still cry everytime.
"But first, you're gonna have to leave your own head" That comment struck a chord with me, and made me wonder...is White agoraphobic? Up until that point, we never saw her leave her own head. Is it possible that some part of her not only wants to make the outside world and everyone in it perfect...but that she's maybe also a little bit afraid of it all?
I really enjoyed your commentary here at the end of the OG series. It feels appropriate how much y'all are freaking out that it's over because the crewniverse didn't have the confirmation of the movie or SU:F while they were making this episode, so while it's not THE ending, it is certainly an ending
Also want to mention how much of a subtle (to the viewers, at least) burn it is for Yellow to call White off-color. Like damn, just say she's wrong to her face why don't you

One nice detail, our Pearl was originally supposed to be White's pearl because their gem placements are same. Pink got our pearl cuz White took her original pearl and even Steven saw this in that fever dream when Blue said "White's gonna take your pearl"
