Oh yeah, that new keyboard nowadays is mandatory hahaha she needs her own place, for me motivation comes from the same quote you use, "Memento Mori" but I personally add "Memento Vivere", cheers!

Nope, she/he? will still sit on your keyboard since it's your scent plus the heat he/she is attracted :} but you can try don't take my word on it.

I think the solution is two identical keyboards with a splitter and a switch. That way when they decide they aren't in the way enough, you can trade keyboards with them and keep them from butt typing. Kind of like how with multiple animals, all the pet beds have to be big enough for the biggest animal, because otherwise the tiniest one will steal the biggest bed

I keep myself motivated by making sure my environment supports the goals I set for myself. I find I’m way less motivated when I surround myself with people, places, or even things (i.e. Xbox hehe) that don’t really align with the life I want to live. Also, kitty keyboard ✅

I started studying with my wife in the same room. We both have stuff to learn for personal or academic purposes but german universities are closed since 4 semesters. So to overcome the countless distractions at home we study next to each other to hold each other accountable. We don't study the same field or anything, but it helps keeping the focus because we don't want to disappoint the other person.
For goals .. I should formulate some, but right now I tend to tumble from day to day between university and work and can be happy if I finish a semester without a burnout... so goals don't feel realistic right now beside "finish university before it finishes you"

    • @marmusmula
      @marmusmula 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Finishing university while working is a big and wonderful goal by itself. It is also positive that you consider your helth as well. I think people who didn't have their helth crash don't realy grasp how important it is.

@@marmusmula Thank you. Sadly I missed the chance to study without the necessity of earning my own money because of dumb decisions a couple of years ago.
So now I have to stand on my own two feet while already paying back my student loans and pursuing a CS degree. If I don't watch out for my mental health, I accomplish neither of it, so health I always the first priority.
So yeah, finishing that degree seems like a big goal. :)

Lol that phrase is going to stick. I agree with the importance of a accountability partner, I didn't realize how important it was till I started to go to Yoga with my sister and sin e the group is only of 5 people, the instructor already knows everyone so I feel in the need to not fail because of my sister and because of him.

Weight lifting has taught me a lot about willpower and goal setting. You don't notice much when you start, but If you stick to your routine and focus on it day to day (even the bad days), you'll soon amaze yourself with what you've accomplished. Then it becomes a joy.
But really anything that makes you deal with discomfort makes you better.

I'm naturally driven so that's not an issue. However, I'm very emotional (passionate is another word). One thing that helps me the most is focusing on slow and controlled deep breaths, getting enough rest, and realizing that tomorrow is always a new day; a fresh start, a clean slate. Reset back to 0 and 0 (zero wins, zero losses). I know that I'm not just here fighting for myself. I'm here for those closest to me in my life. I focus on stringing together many days of efficient action. Self-discipline, patience, and consistency. Then there's *doing my best to align my behaviors to my intentions* ; this is a big one. Stacking together many small wins; base hits add up, not the home run days because that's not consistent or manageable. Making things incredibly easy for myself to succeed, by managing my time and breaking big problems and tasks into smaller ones. Appreciating what I have (gratitude). I would say these are not how I stay motivated. These are what help me get done what I need to get done. Just don't be a b**ch to myself and get out of my own way. * That's the truth, just get out of my own way.* I'm worthy. I am, so I'm proving it as best as I can every single new day. Today is a gift, that's why we call it The Present, so I try not to waste it; Edmund Lau (The Effective Engineer) says that "Time is your most limited and critical resource." We have to acknowledge this as often as possible throughout each day. I think that's what your video thumbnail made me feel immediately, so thank you for that reminder. I will achieve what I'm after. * I'm worth it. The ones I love are worth it.* So I'll keep on going for me and for them 🔥🔥🔥

I feel that me too finally could get this level of motivation, or whatever it's. We just look around and remember where we are and where we really wanted to be in an verry soon future, or what language you would like to know to watch your favorite tv shows without any suport, but only the fruit of your hard work that was learning such language. I feel blessed for that, even thought I'm just at the beggining.

I really like the "memento mori" on your card deck! I'm taking notes for my PM certificate while watching and listening to your video 🤭
I always remember myself I am going to die, not only because of my anxiety but because I use that thought to stay motivated too!
Instead of cards I place mindset quotes around my working space so I just lift my head up and read one.
I have an agenda but I only use it for work and never look at it unless I need to remember myself what I have to do.
I bought a house a out a year ago but it was in a not so good condition so I am slowly renovating it, so it became a huge motivation to keep improving myself and growing up professionally in order to be able to become independent.
Let's keep up the good work everyone!!

I'm working my my MS in Data Science while maintaining my job as a PM and even though I'm only working 30 hours per week it's been a struggle to handle work, school, study, and my normal responsibilities. I really like the idea of something like live streaming study sessions every day... although instead of live streaming I've been trying to make myself stick around for 1-1:30 hours after class and post up in a study room. It's a nice way to keep myself from being distracted by my home environment. Thanks for sharing your strategies!

I have been a part of your live streaming study sessions for a while now and that is one major thing that keeps me motivated through 4 days (now) a week. I did try and come up with a scoreboard of mine inspired by the ones on the group recently and am trying to focus on being consistent at using it. Also, I do follow a system of documenting my days both plans and actual execution and I end my day with a journal of things I accomplished that day, things I am grateful about and things I need to look out for the next day.
For the first time in years, I have put in effort to come up with new year resolutions which can be easily converted into SMART Goals and split into tasks and systems. I must say, that it has been going great for now, which is surprisingly a good thing for a person like me. I am not good at coming back to things / systems like this after a break, especially if it is an unplanned, unaccounted break. So it is a challenge which I will have to wait and watch.

Last year I started studying CS while working full time as a translator. To even be able to enroll in the program I had to redo my math SAT, which meant that I'd have to go over 4-years worth of high school math after not touching math for 8 years and being bad at it in school, which was really cumbersome. So in order to motivate myself I kept telling everyone around me that I was going redo the math SAT and I made sure to tell them that a lot. That way, if I gave up, everyone around me would've known and I'd have to explain to them why I did that after hyping it up so much. It worked :D

Hey Tina, you might be better off reformulating your goals into the positive. With a goal of „not getting fired“ and „not dying alone“ you run the risk of manifesting the possibility of that happening and subconsciously move towards that (you drive to where you look ; you think about the pink elephant when you are told to not think about it)- also, not getting fired holds no progress, it’s stagnation. Wish you all the best!

I turned 38 last week and had a "oh shit I'm pushing 40 and need to get my life together" moment. I'm still riding that motivation wave but I know it won't last and I'll end up same place next year.

The pack of cards idea looks very useful, except I'd put both the category and the goal as the title of the card. Then, I'd write the skills necessary to achieve those goals below and cross-reference them with the skills I deem valuable as having (an Elizabeth Filips technique from here on YT).

That score system sounds really interesting to me tbh
buuuut I couldn't make it too complicated as, for me, if I don't have a system in place, I get nowhere, but if I make my system TOO complex, I also get nowhere as I just get overwhelmed by it all.

Hi Tina, I don't know whether or not you will see this comment, but either way, I wanted to say that I've been watching a lot of your videos recently to learn how to hold myself more accountable when it comes to my studies, interests, etc. I find it super inspiring how upfront you are with the audience about your own insecurities, and the fact that you still struggle with motivation sometimes. It makes your advice feel very relatable, especially compared to other productivity youtubers who act like they have everything figured out already. Thanks for all of your hard work in giving this information to us for free!

Really appreciate your study sessions. I was able to write about 26000 words towards my nanowrimo novel by just getting into the habit of logging in at a set time every week.

The best thing about grit: it is something that can be developed and trained for. You do not have to be born with grit to become successful in life.

I love your videos^^ The best thing for me is that I can relate lots of things with you. The new year's resolution thing you said, it has happened with me many times. Every year I list down my resolutions but after some days I'm back to square zero😅 After discovering your channel I have been pretty much motivated and organised towards my studies, thanks to you. One of my fav thing learnt from you is to create a system for yourself to make a task your habit. I always planned to read something different everyday, but I wasn't consistent no matter what. So I started a telegram channel: "Whatever it takes", where I post one article/blog/video daily which I find interesting and different along with my thoughts on it. The topics are diverse like finance, technology, business, etc. This goes under my 2022 year's resolution to read something daily keeping myself updated. Being started it I have made myself responsible and mandatory to read daily, as the fear of not being able to put the stuff one day is far more embarrassing for me. Thankyou so much for your straight-to-the-point and helpful content.💗

The core thing that keep me highly motivated is to cut stuff. Everything that is draining my energy and not helping me reaching my goal I just throw that away periodically.
It can be tasks, project, things I own I have to maintain, relationships, routine, hobby, etc. Work wonders!
