    I will be doing this. Down streaming doesn’t work as well on brick the first time like the X-jet does. Great information sir!

      Will still need pressure if it’s bad. I just downstream and then lightly rinse it off

    Yes Doug, I use your Xjet modification since I only have a 4gpm for now. It works great for roofs. I get nearly 4 stories. I'm using the Xjet also for house washing too since I don't have a DS injector. I'm batch mixing to 1% for the house washing and Xjet. Works great.

    Started getting tennis elbow after some long commercial jobs with X-Jetting. I have switched to down streaming since then.

    Thanks for this video Doug, I got my xjet from you a few months back and I love it. I've done probably 15 houses with it and it's served me great. This modification is just what I need though to help with all the misting.
    Question, does the orifice go back in the xjet with the little nipple going inside or facing out?

      Pointing inside towards the nozzle end. Then the spring behind it. So the spring rests against the flat end. I'll post a pic in the community section.

    Awesome video. Our company is just getting into soft washing so this may be a decent option for some services we do. I currently have a soft wash system but this could help for us treating concrete or hitting different solutions at jobs.

    I’m just starting out in this biz, still not sure about the ratios , I ordered an xjet m5 #7, all I have right now is a 3200 psi 2.4 g p m pump. Thus should get me working til I can afford a bigger set up. I’ve been watching your vids. Hope to make some extra cash with pressure washing.

    Would it be ok to add a quick disconnect right after the gun before the Xjet fitting?

      You can, but it will make the wand wobbly. I tried it and didn't like it. Prefer using a dedicated gun for x-jet. Never really found the need for changing the wand.

      I’ve run 80 feet before and heard of people say that use 100-125 feet. With No issues

    Hey Doug! Awesome video. Kind of a related question, if I’m pulling 10% sh from the xjet pail with a 4K 4gpm machine, what % mix do you think I’m getting from that?

      It will be pretty much or close to whatever you dilute it in the bucket as long as your not using the colored proportioners that come with x jets. When using bleach it’s recommended to not use the proportioners

      @@PressureCleaningSch Doug, this is causing me some confusion. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but with the xjet, if I have a 5 gal jug filled with 10% SH only (and a few ounces of surfactant), I thought I would only get 1/2 of the strength at the tip of my xjet nozzle? Ie. 5% solution being applied to the surface to be cleaned.
      Edit: and thats with me not using any of the proportioners

    Thank you sir for taking the time to share your knowledge! I do use my x jet daily to apply and rinse also to trim around hard to reach places, I like to modify my x jet like you did yours, if after the modifications I put x jet twist would it be just like before minus pall the over spray?

    Hey Doug, any idea the longest you can run that line from the “bucket”? Another words with a 4gpm PW can I run 100 feet from that bucket and still get a good enough pull on the chem? Not sure if this question has come up. Thx.

      @@seanduenas8684 yes it should. It’s 3/8 hose and the barb is 3/8. Use a hose clamp though. I don’t use this hose anymore. I use the clear braid hose.

      Hey Ron, not sure I understand your question, but if you are talking about mix %, I just go by whatever I mix in the bucket is pretty close to what it will deliver. Thats not exact science, but its pretty close. All I'm looking for is the bleach to change the color of the organic stains. So I mix based on the degree of staining.

    Would I still be able to use the xjet at the tip of my wand after I remove the spring and the orface? Asking because you jettisoned that it gives you a stronger mix. Thats what I am looking for

      Yes you can use it at end of wand....will give you same mix jet always does, just not at the high pressure

    Great video but I have a question. Did the modification but it is working in reverse. It is adding water to the chemical bucket instead of suctioning it. What did I do wrong?

    With your x jet modification, what sh ratio will I get if I am running 10 % in my sh tank?

      Lot of variables will dictate that. I never really concern myself with he % coming out, just that it'ss changing the color of the organic staining. On the web site for modified gun is the x jet manual and there is a chart in the manual that will give you approximate ratios that you can use as a guide.     Awesome video. I set mine up this way as well but when I tried to use it it just sent water straight through injector port into the bucket. It won’t pull from the bucket anymore just force water back into the bucket. I have everything going the same direction as in the video the only difference is I didn’t put it straight into a gun I put a 1/4” male quick connect fitting on it and plugged it straight into our short wand. Do you think that’s what’s causing my issue?

    Hi Doug. Where can I get these little fittings to modify my xjet like this? Just getting started and I dont have a dedicated 12 v pump system or anything for soft washing. I have a 4 gpm pw on its way, surface cleaner, etc should arrive in coming days.
    Ill probably (once I can afford it) get an additional xjet just so I can do this and have it ready to go.

    It’s so hard to unscrew the nozzle from the body of the m5 x jet. Any tips on how to take it off? Thanks

      Yeah they use permanent lox seal so it takes a bit to get it loose. We use a vise and wrench and break it loose without forcing. Nice even pressure to bust it loose. Just got be patient and try to force it off.

    So couldn't you basically do the same softwash modification with a 24foot telescoping wand where the hose connects to the trigger combining with a form of shooter tip for doing church steeples or high peaks.

    Since you are using the j rod with the xjet could you still pull chem from your downstream injector?That would make an extra strong mix.

      No need for that. Just dilute your mix how you want it in the xjet bucket

      Yes that’s what I use on my Kingslinger . The 1/2 air hose. I have a 12V I been testing out using 5/8 water hose.

      So I made this modification Doug, and connected it to a 1/2” flexzilla air hose that you had mentioned. But for some reason it doesn’t pull chem instead water comes out of the end where it’s supposed to draw chemical. Any idea why? I’m stumped.

      @@hugolopez9583 for the x jet modified need to use 3/8 hose. 1/2 inch is for the Kingslinger soft wash system. Also make sure you put the spring and orfice back in.

      Chlorine is extremely biodegradable. Open up the top of a brand new bottle of 10 or 12.5 S.H. and see how fast the strength of it is gone. Especially when left to come into contact with sunlight. Even indirect sunlight.

    Hey Doug,. When I did this modification, I found that when I pulled the trigger, water would gush out of the chem injector port at the bottom. When I reassmbled it back to original, It didnt do this and worked as it should. I'd really like to modify it. Any ideas on whats going on in this case? Thanks so much!

    Doug I 'm retired but am thinking about doing soft washing . I see a gold mine just in my area. My resources are limited what would you suggest . Don't want to climb, I am 71 but in good shape. Every house here needs at least a roof clean. Can you kindly give me some feed back?

      For roofs you’d need a dedicated pump like the Kingslinger. You can spray one story and some two story roofs from the ground.

    I plan to build a trailer soon and have a dedicated pump for when down streaming won't be strong enough. I'm considering building this for brick, concrete and smaller roof jobs. If I did a 50/50 mix in the bucket would be 6% what would be coming out at the nozzle? Would it be cut in half?

    why cant you continue to use the 1/4" QD fitting at the gun? Why do you you remove the QD and replace it with a threaded fitting?

      No reason you can’t. I just prefer not to have the movement the plug causes in the gun. And because ours is a dedicated asked yet gone there’s no reason to have the plug

      I think he means that you only have to purchase orifices for different gpm machines, instead of having to buy a new x-jet for each machine.

    Great info Doug. I live down in SW Florida where about 80% of the homes are stucco. Just starting out and debating on getting an XJet or Flowzone typhoon to get me at 3% SH hitting the building until I can build a 12V softwash rig in a few months. My 4 gpm has a 2.1 injector on it and after doing a bucket test I found it's a 15 to 1 ratio, which ends up being only .06-.07 percent SH coming out of the business end... which isn't going to cut it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

      Cozmo Jack an x jet or pump up sprayer will definitely help get you a stronger mix when needed.

    So once you make the mod, is it strictly for soft washing? If I want to use pressure for something like concrete/brick steps or a stone retaining wall or something, should I keep a separate, regular gun/lance setup and just switch the guns out for whatever I need? Because if I’m thinking right I’ll use this setup for house washing and pre/post treating driveways and sidewalks, and then just need to switch guns to do things like the porch steps

      If you have the Jrod w the 4 nozzles one of those is great for rinsing and cleaning concrete and brick. But id you need higher pressure then the colored nozzles that normally come with a pressure washer could be used.

      @@PressureCleaningSch update: it works and it doesn’t. I used my first xjet M5 rated up to 3k psi. I used a jrod for my 4GPM, and only the soap tips worked, poorly. The rinse tips, or the ones with a smaller diameter caused the draw line to shoot off. Not really worth it.
      I noticed the lower, or bottom tier xjet I was using did not have the orafice inside, it only had the spring. I’m sure if someone wanted to drill press a larger diameter internally, it would work. But as is, too much “back pressure” I’ll call it. Worth a shot. I was trying to have an xjet for house washing and a seperate for concrete without batching or using/exchanging the plastic proportioners.

      I have a question on how to configure a downstream injector to push soap through an 18 foot extension wand while standing on a ladder. Should I move the injector closer to the extension wand to accomplish this. I am using a 4000psi 4gpm washer.

    I attempted this. When I did a bucket test, the flow water was pushed through the soap line the wrong way. Even if I throttled down.. I put the orifice and spring back in and it worked as it should. Why did this happen?

    Hi Doug, Could I softwash my own shingle roof with that setup or is the PSI still too high for roofs no matter what I do? I assume I could shoot 4-5% SH from the 5 gallon bucket. Although it probably won't last very long... I just want to softwash my own roof once a year - Am I stuck having to pay ~$600 for an entry level dedicate 12v system? (I have a basic 3000 PSI 2.0 GPM Pressure Washer). Thanks!

    Hey, I followed your instructions to a t but when I go to use my modification the water pressure comes out of the nipple that is used to pick up the chemical. So I don't know what I did wrong. Anyone can help me

      Make sure you put the spring end orfice back in how it came out. And use only the larger nozzles on the JRod. Soap high and soap low nozzles.
