    Catching a large older rat like that is not an easy task, they are so smart and aware. I'm VERY impressed and wonder overall, if you've experienced a decline in rodent numbers in your barn? Here on my poultry operation, I'm fresh out of rats and mice, but am constantly preparing my response in case they return. Thumbs UP.

    Most of the people who dislike the mice killing are the same people who scream and try to swat them when they see one running around it makes no sense

    I wish more people understood that trapping is very important in keeping the population of animals under control. In fact, most individuals who would take the time to learn about trapping would likely use every part of the animal, and be vert thankful for the animals sacrifice.

      Even if the rats end up dumped that's fine because they are vermin. Some people need to either die or adapt to the humans way.

    • @nobetterreason7393
      @nobetterreason7393 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      U do realize that u can make the trap bigger so u could probably catch foxes which have a good amount of calories in them

    • @nobetterreason7393
      @nobetterreason7393 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good point but using a steel trap might crush and pop all the organs of the animal and the juices would get on the meat and they might soak in leaving the meat not so appetizing

    Thank you for this info. We live in the desert and the rats destroy so much. Chew the wires and belts in our vehicles and chew on tool handles and build nests under the hood of tractor and is a hazard for fire. They chew through the floors of our out buildings. We have used the electronic rat traps but they dont last long out in the weather. even when we put a 5 gal bucket over the trap. Dont like poison because we have pets and dont want the hawks, owls, etc to be harmed

    The Spanish Windlass looks easy and effective! No doubt it is some very good off-the-grid survival knowledge.
    The upper part is easy enough and hardly needs explaining, but I'm not sure how easy the construction of the Bait station is...it looks a bit more involved. Most people watching this can figure it out on their own, but average people might not.

    Great alternative to a spring pole trap!
    The trigger looks simple and effective as well.
    This really makes regular cordage nearly as effective as a wire snare. Obviously a lot more work to set though.

    thx for sharing this video! I wonder if they really die that quick. Please check and report if their neck were broken. I have no problem with killing rats. I can tell you a short true story. Many years ago i was on school trip and during lunch they served chicken legs. Many girls were disgusted and refused to eat. They only ate chicken breast without bones, etc. I told them if all people only eat breasts, many more chicken have to be raised and killed, but they still continued. End of story. Lesson learned. Not every one will survive a survival situation, thats how it workes. But thanks to you, we have a better chance with learning together.

    I keep several of those modern snap traps with the plastic teeth in my compost pit, I had to pin them down with a 3'' staple made from cut wire hangar because they would drag the trap all over the yard and sometimes dislodge itself from under wooden fence! Very effective though!

      Found out by pure accident, Wheat Flour.. is like sugar to them. I had some in my garage for projects. An thinking my garage was SAFE, never thought about it, till I came along an saw half the 5 pound bag tore into an flour tossed about. Flour has been the lure to beat all lures. Even though people say p.nut butter is supposed to work, but not here. I think it may depend on where you are, though. What works for some, may not work for others.
