AAA! This is a perfect gift Morgan, thank you! I LOVE mulled wine! How thoughtful and how beautifully made!! And it may arrive at the perfect time, for there will be Visitors over New Year's.... 😁😁😁
I know of a few more people who'd watch his channel if he had one! Has Mr. Donner heard of the book _Slow Tech: the Art of Sustainable Crafts_ by Peter Ginn? It just came out and I got a copy for myself and a few for gifts. It's great if you like historical projects that require/develop skills from the past time periods. He (and you) might like it!
@@e.urbach7780 I have not read that, but it's on my amazon list now. Amazon's book description had me giggling quite a bit. Over the past decade, I have - to varying extents - researched endeavored each and every single craft listed in that amazon blurb for the book. [shakes head in shame, remembering wattle and daub failures on the iron-age hut...]
When all those spices were all mixed together in the bowl I found myself taking a deep breath trying (unsuccessfully, of course through the interwebs) to catch a hint of the scent. Alas and alack, it did not work, I am aroma-less, but I can imagine. Townsends has some amazing items (and he's so much fun to watch too). The "good-for-all-things-that-ail-you old-timey labels are wonderful. A beautiful, thoughtful, and gorgeously packaged gift that I'm sure Ms. Hay will adore. I love that you smelled the paper from Ms. Bernadette. The mushroom hair stick is wonderful and will adorn your 'crown' amazingly. I hope you've had a marvelous holiday season and I look forward to joining you as your journey continues into 2020. Thanks again for sharing.

Mr. Donner finally speaks! :D Also, props to you two for turning the old trope of calling a woman "Mrs. [husband's full name as if she has no name of her own]" thing on its head. I'm going to have to order some of that Saigon cinnamon! I've been working on a looseleaf decaf chai tea from scratch, since I can't find one made up, and having so much trouble getting the cinnamon into the right size pieces. That looks perfect already! I might also have to deviate from my normal winter beverage of mulled cider and try it with wine . . .
I knew it was Bernadette because I heard her say the phrase “If that is your jam...” before in several other videos. Beautifully made gifts from both of you! Well done!
A wild Mr. Donner appears! I would be very interested to see some more of the kind of things he makes! (though I still love the sewing related things best)

Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. You Bernadette cathy and several others in this community have really helped me through some bad depression moments. Thank you for also being a big inspiration into my journeys to get into historical sewing. Gramercy.
All of the puns made my LIFE with this video! Omg. I loved how crafty you were with your gift! Thumbs up to you and Mr. Donner with his attempt at starting a new series on your channel!

Oh awesome fun! So many smiles in this one for me. Your apron was beautiful. Finding a “thing” that worked for both of your eras was genius, and so well executed. I loved the little joke about your Mr. putting his series on “your” channel. My Mr. has a channel, and I can relate. Your answer to the cooking historian’s scorn was awesome and heartening. Again, I can relate. And, absolutely, yay for Townsends. Morgan, you are a pro in the best sense, and one of my living heroes. 😁
Beautifully and thoughtfully created gift! The label and wax seals gave it the personalized charm. And a hurrah to Mr Morgan Donner as a recurring special guest star! His appearance made my husband watch and peaked his interest. Double hurrah! Thank You
Having an S.O. who is crazy about artist things as much as you do is such a gift in itself. You both do such amazing and detailed work, and of course all the research into the items you create!! It makes me smile.
As someone who used to work at a post office, I get pangs of guilt just watching this ^^'. You definitely did the right thing by going to inquire for it! Even though everyone tries their best to make everything go smoothly... As long as there are humans involved, glitches do happen. So some extra vigilance from the part of the receiver never hurts! I always felt such a relief when we managed to pull out the package from somewhere in the end. (And such a dread when we didn't lol :P) But so glad your package reached you in the end hehe. Loved your gifts, it's fun to see how people came up with different things :) The labels were the perfect finishing touch!
I 100% understand that a bit of human error happens now and then, and I've worked retail before, I get it 😉. I'm also just happy that I got it in the end!
Grains of paradise were once the 'poor man's' black pepper and is related to ginger rather than pepper. Now, just as the gap was once the place to get levi's for 15 rather than 32 bucks (is my age showing?), things have reversed. Ceylon cinnamon is different from other cinnamon. Cassia and Vietnamese cinnamon have a large coumarin content, which is not good when ingested regularly. According to the German gov the tolerable daily limit is .1mg per every kilogram body weight. The EU has set max limits of the amounts of courmarin in foods containing cinnamon. Ceylon has much less and is a safe recommended alternative. As likely discovered, when ordering, it the most expensive and the most mild in flavour meaning usually much more is needed to achieve level of flavour from cassia or Vietnamese varieties. There is info on line referring to toxicity and so on. I love these channels because even though I get much less accomplished than y'all, it feels good to be in the company who realize details are heaven.
this is so much fun! I fangirl sqweed when I saw the Townsend's sugar as I watch them as well ! I can see why you choose Mr Donner he is punny and skilled ! I wish I know how that grindy machine worked - I'd give Mr Donner money for it!
As soon as you started reading aloud I knew it was from Bernadette. It sounded like her. All of you ladies are amazing at what you do. You have opened a whole new world for me. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching videos that have anything to do with woodworking because it reminds me of my grandad, who was a master carpenter, so I'm very happy with Mr. Morgan Donner's new segment
You know what's stinkin adorable? This lovely cohort of semptresses scattered all over the world, tied together by bonds of thread and love. What a wonderful sisterhood. Maybe Sisterhood of the Sewers. I happened onto you this fall and have been working my way thru all of videos, often whilst I sew or knit or clean or work at something that my mind rebels at if I don't give it brain goodies to keep it occupied during the boring bits. None of my projects (yet) have been creatively fulfilling thus far. Because; altering my incredible shrinking husband's wardrobe. And really re-tailoring is such an evil job. But a friend is betrothed and we will be creating her wedding gown from some very extra Liberty of London silk chiffon so I have that to look forward to, in addition to whatever you and the other Sisterhoods sewers will be doing this Spring! So happy to have happened upon you and your cohort. Or, possibly, coven, because there is clearly some witch craft happening with some of what you do!
S.N. from Morgan: Good God, this music is so extra... Proceeds to HAND grind spices from an ancient receipe, using a Mr. Donner HAND turned grinder, then sealing it with a lovely wax and ring seal....but the music is "extra" 😂😂😂 What a lovely present! I can't wait to see the unboxing video.
Morgan, i was thinking of the comment you made on Bernadette's channel, and I think it would make a good Patreon reward for many people to have a little trading card, like maybe a 3x5" index card, with a swatch of fabric stapled to it of a current project, printed with info about the current project such as it's name and date and intended purpose. I believe many TH-cam fans would appreciate a chance to hold a piece of fabric or trim from one of your amazing creations, and feel more bonded to you through such an exchange. I think many of us TH-cam fans are fans of several other sewing channels as well, and would enjoy collecting swatches from many of our favorite TH-camrs' projects. Since you are such a trendsetter and leader among the community (as the one who coined the phrase "historybounding") I figure you might be a good one to at least float the idea by, to see whether it grabbed people's attention or not. Maybe you'll even be able to come up with a really catchy name for these project trading cards! I hope you'll give it a thought.
What a brilliant gift you made for the amazing Cathy Hay, and I loved your response to the potential food historian looking down their nose your your using that beautiful spice grinder Mr Morgan Donner made (by the way, I'd love one of those, and also to see him popping up on your channel with other things he makes to support what you do). I loved the labels you made and all of this.
I loved watching Bernadette with picking and packing your gift, and it was even better to get to see you open it. Your smile was brighter than the lights in the room. Hope you have a very merry Christmas.
Completely unrelated, but can I just say how comforting it is to see another person with teeth crooked in the same way mine are? Particularly a TH-camR? It's something I'm super insecure about and yet here she is rocking it.
This was beyond delightful to watch!! Rather like a tv show with it’s informative, creative, humorous and esthetic content!!! 😻❤️❤️I adored watching the whole assemblage process of your gift and admire that hair stick you received!!!!🍄
Hello Mr Morgan Donner. I have been watching this channel on and off and not in chronological way but it is nice to see Mr Donner. Morgan got help from you during loads of her video's but you were never in the picture. It is nice to see you and see the person who helps out. You guys are great together to make all of the things happening. Keep it up, love you both.
Hey, it is very historically accurate to make do with what you have! Your make do just happened to be of the "Honey, Make Me" variety. I can also saw that Mr. Donnor will have a avid viewer in my father who made me rewind the woodworking part a half a dozen times so he could try to figure out what the make and model of the lathe(the sideways turny thing?) was. He is also looking up those books.
Every step of your gift was mind blowing, from your research to the grinder to the round bottle to the wax seals. The reason I am screaming is Mr, Morgan Donner’s lack of eye protection with wood chips flying in every direction. Tut, tut, wear those goggles!!
This has been so much fun!! Nikki had a great idea. We have a low key Christmas, and I got a great deal of joy watching these videos. I’m waiting patiently for Cathy’s.
I searched for this video so excited to see it and could not find it until this morning. All by accident. I have so enjoyed watching! You all have put together such wonderfully thoughtful and fun gifts.
Well done! I actually found you, Mrs. Donner, through Mademoiselle Banner, which means I saw her video on procuring and sending your gift! I >love-love-LOVE< the grinder you have! As for snobbish "experts" on such things...I totally concur with your offered sentiments! Please tell Mr. Donner that there very well could be a demand for his wood working videos AND for those grinders! I very much look forward to catching up with your videos. Bernadette's channel has awakened a huge interest in creating my own vintage clothing and I suspect your channel will broaden my horizons back into Medieval periods where I've always looked fondly. I'm also about to start teaching myself Horse Archery. Got anything for period clothing from a time where that was a thing? Won't I look "interesting" in the heart of East Texas, riding my horse whilst brandishing my Bow and Arrows and wearing the necessary clothing of such a time? ...I forecast serious eye rolls, starting with my husband! ;-) Blessings to you, Morgan! It's a pleasure "meeting" you, M'am.
Given your interest in horse related projects, might I suggest that you investigate the Mongol empire? Period correct, just not the European slant. The Mongol clothing is amazing, practical, and absolutely beautiful. Your Texan neighbors would surely have a treat from the usual mix of Southwestern finery, especially if you become proficient in horse archery, and will be just as impressed with beautiful Mongolian period correct attire.
@@DodiTov ...Thank you!!!! I've always been a little odd. lol ...so most of my friends are used to that about me. I will definitely check out Mongol Empire! I'm so new to this that I have no clue where to start. I have contacted a Texas group that deals with Horse Archery. I'm just thinking ahead about correct costumery. I think that would be a crowning touch to a new skill.
@@bonniehyden962 Excellent! There are many cultures that use horse archery...but they tend to be Eastern, not Western. I so love the ladies of the CosTube community, but they are centered around western European history. In the Eastern group, for instance the Cossacks of Russia, as well as the Mongols, it is different. These are Oriental in orientation, and their clothing is well documented throughout the ages. Being nomadic as a culture, their wealth was in their horses...and the decoration of their clothes. Much fine metal and rare stones decorate their clothing, being the portable way to conserve wealth. Silks and cottons weren't part of their skillsets, it was leather! For you, it would be a new skill to learn...but then, you are in an ideal location to learn the finer points of leather crafting.
@@DodiTov ...and I lived in Nome, Alaska during my high school years, where I took a class learning leather and fur sewing from some of the sweetest Eskimo Elder Ladies. Funny how life works, huh? :-D
@@bonniehyden962 OH MY!!! Now, I'm going to have to follow you so that I too, can watch you make your splendid new "antique" riding leathers! Do fire up your phone and make your channel! I'm all excited to watch this amazing project get off the ground! Speaking of, Tandy has some amazing dyed leathers in my area...perhaps it might be of use to you?
☺️ A coincidence or fate; I’ve been playing June’s Journey for over a year and I just found your TH-cam channel after watching Bernadette. So happy to have discovered your channel. Really enjoying all the things you do; especially wearing a corset for a week! I look forward to many more episodes!
That is such a thoughtful and awesome gift! You are SO attentive to detail, it's amazing! I just saw Cathy Hay receiving your present and the seal and label were To Die For.
Mmmmmm I can just smell those spices.......lovely. And I really liked seeing how the grinder was made. Well done Mr Morgan Donner. You’ll have to ask the boss if you can do another segment soon. Lovely gift Morgan, and so beautifully packaged.....makes it so special for the recipient.
I’m amazed by the spice grinder! The Mary Rose always fascinated me as a kid. I have visited it several times and it’s part of the reason for my love of all things historical.
Such thoughtful gifts! So interesting to see how Mr Donner made the mill! The mushroom for you hair is so you! I love the photo you posted of it in your intricately braided hair!
I have been watching you and and Bernadette a lot the last few days since we have been social distancing since the first of March. As soon as you said "jam" I knew it was Bernadette.
I had already watched Bernadette's video on your gift. So when you posted this video, I was so excited to watch you open it. Hope your holidays are bright.

Love your videos...and I just ADORE June's Journey (have been playing for quite a while...such kind of game is good for the brain/memory abilities and the pictures are wunderful - I love the outfits of the twenties...(I also love "Mrs. Fisher's Murder Mysteries"...enjoying the estetic parts of the 20ies, being aware that "ordinary people" had a rather bad life, but I like very much that women started to fight for their rights at that time)...greetings from Germany, Stina :-) P.S. What I really appreciate with "June's Journey" is that you get a nice greeting (and a gift) for special occasions, that's rather unusual for "normal" game platforms, I really appreciate that. :-)))
Love this video - so much soft coziness 💖 I really enjoyed Mr. Donner's contribution, that was super interesting, and your giftwrapping was stunning! I seriously need to get my life together and design (or have someone with actual skill) design a personal seal for me... because hashtag aesthetic etc.

Donner HAND turned grinder, then sealing it with a lovely wax and ring seal....but the music is "extra" 😂😂😂
What a lovely present! I can't wait to see the unboxing video.
♥️Such Humour, fabulous Music and The Woodturning Bonus~!! Lovely each and very time I watch🍄
That is about the neatest gift I've ever seen! I love Bernadette, she is so amazing and I so enjoy her channel.
I have no words for how cool that spice mill and bottle and everything is!!!
Completely unrelated, but can I just say how comforting it is to see another person with teeth crooked in the same way mine are? Particularly a TH-camR? It's something I'm super insecure about and yet here she is rocking it.
💕😊 Awww, thank you!
This was beyond delightful to watch!! Rather like a tv show with it’s informative, creative, humorous and esthetic content!!! 😻❤️❤️I adored watching the whole assemblage process of your gift and admire that hair stick you received!!!!🍄
Awww, thank you! I look forward to wearing the stick often :D
Grizzly G0462, if that helps! :D
@@MorganDonner Indeed it does! (I think dad's getting a new toy 🙊)
Every step of your gift was mind blowing, from your research to the grinder to the round bottle to the wax seals. The reason I am screaming is Mr, Morgan Donner’s lack of eye protection with wood chips flying in every direction. Tut, tut, wear those goggles!!
I love that the music when opening bernadettes music is something you’d hear during a Bernadette video :)
Yay for Mr. Donner! If I hadn't subbed before I would now for all the added crafts content.
These two are a historical power couple!
This has been so much fun!! Nikki had a great idea. We have a low key Christmas, and I got a great deal of joy watching these videos. I’m waiting patiently for Cathy’s.
Wow Morgan that is stunning. You Morgan are so EXTRA 💖🇿🇦
;D (Fun fact: Lorraine is my middle name!)
I searched for this video so excited to see it and could not find it until this morning. All by accident. I have so enjoyed watching! You all have put together such wonderfully thoughtful and fun gifts.
That process had to smell heavenly!
I am a pro baker and am gobsmacked at your grinder.
..as well as you're whole community. Pure magic.
Mr. Donner's section was so interesting and my husband would love these!
Speaking of, Tandy has some amazing dyed leathers in my area...perhaps it might be of use to you?
ohmygosh, a Townsends reference! Independent of this or any other costuber, I have enjoyed Townsends for years. Yay!!
☺️ A coincidence or fate; I’ve been playing June’s Journey for over a year and I just found your TH-cam channel after watching Bernadette. So happy to have discovered your channel. Really enjoying all the things you do; especially wearing a corset for a week! I look forward to many more episodes!
Loved seeing the pepper pot being made. Great job! How creative are you Christmas Santa’s. All the best Lynne
Me- who is fascinated by anything associated with stillrooms/ historical food (though I am a basic b*tch when it comes to cooking) - Sees inbox: All the life, for this upload!
Sees ‘Mr Morgan Donner’s’ contribution: Oh! Isn’t he a sweetheart!
I'm literally playing June's Journey while watching this!
I love all the puns! I might have to make up a batch of those mulling spices, what a great gift.
What an adorable hair stick!!! What a fun exchange you all did. 😄
So much fun!! Yay for Morgan Donner and Mr. Morgan Donner. Really enjoyed this video so very much.
YAY!!! I ABSOLUTELY Love the combinations of Mrs./Mr. Crafts & Clothes & Concepts
Duuuuuuude! That whole part/montage were you just do all the aesthetic things with potion labels and wax seals is EVERYTHING!! I know this video wasn't a lockdown thing, but thank you for giving this graphic designer some inspiration and motivation during Melbourne Lockdown #6. ❤️😍
Is nobody going to mention the ASTONISHINGLY ADORABLE little Phht tough stick out she sent to all the cooking historians😂💜🙃
ah i recognised bernadettes beautiful handwriting as soon as you showed the envelope
Omg... I need this to be a yearly thing. Loooove all of these videos. Thank you!
you started reading and I immediately thought "Bernadette Banner!!!" she has this cute and funny way of speaking : D
