Because this type of product the profit margins are lower, it is difficult to increase the price given the simplicity of the formulas, they cannot do marketing saying that they have revolutionized a serum, because that will not change much As a result, even if we know that changes in formulas often do not make products more efficient, it is generally a lot of marketing and an attempt to reduce production costs. I am 75% convinced that they will do this to all 1 ingredient products/serums with more complex reformulations, more expensive, less % of active ingredients but more expensive. 😅 Nice video Rob, if you love some product start to thinking about keep some backup! 😅

I don't like this direction, but hey, we are consumers, so we can vote with out wallets. G&G is there and as long as there is a demand, there will be supply from somewhere else.
I personally like their newer launches but I do think EL are making some changes to meet new consumer demands.. The current trend is for multi active formulations rather than single actives which the ordinary are known for, how long this trend will last we shall see but they are certainly changing the brand direction.. love x

Yeah they took over them some time back and I think they have done some good things for the brand (like the new releases which are great) but I also think they are increasing prices and changing the basis the brand was formed on which I am not a fan of.. love x
Hi Rob out of these the B oil is the only sad farewell. My rosacea will not tolerate vitamin c in any form, so I’m not upset about that for myself. I have extremely dry skin and hair so I use a fair bit of oils. I will use simple single oils on my hair, but I prefer more complex oils for the face ie blended oils with the addition of things like marine extracts, antioxidants or ceramides. Of the ordinary oils the B oil was my pick. Other examples are good molecules bakuchiol oil and the pacifica vegan ceramide oil (also discontinued recently). The only single oil I’ve seen any true benefits from (over just moisture) is chia seed oil as it really made the lines on neck and chest look better btw. When facial oils get past a few months old I use them in my hair (dry, coarse and curly) as they do lose efficacy fairly quickly. Best wishes x
I will sorely miss the ethylated vitamin c 😢 I've used this every day for years! So silky, non-irritating and ideal as a slip before bb/spf. I was devastated to learn that it's discontinued. I don't enjoy the watery consistency of their vitamin c in vitamin f formulation 😔
oh, I'm so sad to see the B oil go! I don't use it all the time, but it's one of my go-to oils for when I decide to try a new moisturizer and it's unexpectedly too lightweight for my dry, dehydration prone skin. it also feels nice on its own for a little at home massage pampering moment, but I admit that I rarely remember to do those 😅 my mother also loved the ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin serum and was sad to see it go. she's a no-fuss kind of person, so she liked that she could consolidate her antioxidant and hyperpigmentation treatment in one step. I enjoyed it too, but stopped using it once I discovered the G&G a couple years ago at least and I never looked back lol. my biggest fear is that the ordinary will discontinue my absolute holy grail, the amino acids + B5 serum. I don't know what it is about it, I swear it shouldn't be anything special when I look at the ingredients, but it just works so, so well for me. it soothes my skin, makes it feel hydrated and the hydration doesn't evaporate within 2 seconds before I've even had time to put on another serum or a moisturizer. I wish they would sell it in a big bottle like their glycolic acid toner. I've tried finding dupes for it (after all, it's not that hard to find products with amino acids or with panthenol in them) in case it ever gets discontinued, but I haven't found anything that compares. not in a single product and not combining different products either (like a toner with amino acids and a moisturizer with panthenol, for example). I swear if this ever gets discontinued, I will swallow my social anxiety and email them and ask for a whole crate of it. whenever I don't use it, my skin gets visibly more easily irritated and inflamed (I have atopic dermatitis). I also go through a lot more toners/essences when I don't use it because I need to do several layers of them to achieve the same level of hydration as when I just the one layer or two and then use the serum.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the content you provide. I haven’t tried any of these but I do have the ascorbic acid powder and have been mixing it with my balm cleanser to gently exfoliate as I couldn’t think what else to do with it. Every comment I have left I’ve been mega surprised to get a reply. And I’m loving the moisturiser you recommended that I bought (forget the name but it was a small brand from the us) ultra hydrating an great for dry skin. Love your sweatshirt btw .. just my colour ❤
They seem to be progressively cancelling all their cheaper products... I am really upset about the high adherence primer, I am yet to find another that performs as well for my needs. When/if they remove the Argireline I will stop using DECIEM completely. I have had enough. I am already buying less and less because they’ve removed what I needed. Hoping all is well with you. 💙🙏🏻🕊🌞 I cannot believe they are selling their lip balm in a wasteful plastic container when they could have used the Niod metal tubes. Brendan wanted to go plastic free. 😞

I do agree with you on the packaging, I think going plastic free might be a stretch for a big mass market brand but certainly moving towards that and minimising would be a nice effort and they seem to be going the other way as you say with the lip balm.. Ethylated Ascorbic Acid; imo, is a very underrated product and like you said, has many advantages (more stable, less risk of irritation & efficacious). That said, hopefully The Ordinary rebrands this product so we may continue to enjoy its benefits. xx 💋

I’m so sad about the B oil, I got it because I couldn’t find their borage seed oil but I’ve been really enjoying it. I went on their fond farewell section and I’m devastated to see the borage oil and the sea-buckthorn fruit oil have also been discontinued 😭 I was using all of these oils to try and protect my skin barrier while on tret, do you have any affordable recommendations as replacements? I was relying on oils as there are a lot of barrier creams that have myristic acid and it’s derivatives that break me out, illiyoon ato cream and lotion were big disappointments for me as they are so soothing but leave me dealing with spots for a week or two after using them when I do wreck my barrier.

I don’t know what it is about The Ordinary, but something in their products doesn’t agree with my skin and breaks me out. Good Molecules is my go to brand for months that I’m on a tight budget.
I sure hope you are right about TO coming up with new vitC products, because the ethylated ascorbic acid is the only vitC I use exactly for the reasons you mention, I have never been irritated, it is concentrated and it stays perfectly clear beyond its theoretical shelf life...
Oh.. I was considering trying the ethylated vit C.. But I won't now since it's not gonna be available for much longer anyway. I've also thought about trying the ascorbic + alpha arbutin.. Had no idea it was canceled. I wish the ordinary could release ONE serum with both 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid, alpha arbutin and some other brightening ingredients.. My hyperpigmentation is really making me look weird
Oh, no! Not the “B” oil! That’s the only facial oil I really like. I usually mix 2-4 drops in with The Ordinary’s original NMF+HA cream to use as my nighttime moisturizer. That has been working great for my aging combination normal/oily skin. 😢
I agree hun most of these are not the top sellers so hopefully people wont be too impacted.. I do love the b oil though so worth trying before it goes if you can get it at a good price.. love x

I don't really understand why they discontinue so many products. Something not being a super seller doesn't mean it needs to be discontinued. All it takes is 1 product randomly going viral on tiktok to explode. I used B oil before and it's amazing. It leaves their customers constantly worry about if their favorite product is next. STOP, deciem.
I think this is such a good point.. if its not costing a multi national corporation much money then keep it in rotation and then like you say it could go viral and be your next million seller.. love x

Hadn't tried any of these but I will probably take your advice and look for some bargains! One of my wee pals swore by one of the Ordinary concealers because it was perfect for his pale skin, but it was discontinued I think. ❤

I don’t know what it is about The Ordinary, but something in their products doesn’t agree with my skin and breaks me out. Good Molecules is my go to brand for months that I’m on a tight budget.
You are not the only one who has said this I know some others who have an issue with their base formulations.. love x
I sure hope you are right about TO coming up with new vitC products, because the ethylated ascorbic acid is the only vitC I use exactly for the reasons you mention, I have never been irritated, it is concentrated and it stays perfectly clear beyond its theoretical shelf life...
I really hope they come up with something good to replace this as like you it is such a staple in my routine.. love x

Oh.. I was considering trying the ethylated vit C.. But I won't now since it's not gonna be available for much longer anyway. I've also thought about trying the ascorbic + alpha arbutin.. Had no idea it was canceled.
I wish the ordinary could release ONE serum with both 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid, alpha arbutin and some other brightening ingredients.. My hyperpigmentation is really making me look weird

Oh, no! Not the “B” oil! That’s the only facial oil I really like. I usually mix 2-4 drops in with The Ordinary’s original NMF+HA cream to use as my nighttime moisturizer. That has been working great for my aging combination normal/oily skin. 😢
I think they might have had second thoughts and might be keeping that one after all - fingers crossed x

I don't really understand why they discontinue so many products. Something not being a super seller doesn't mean it needs to be discontinued. All it takes is 1 product randomly going viral on tiktok to explode. I used B oil before and it's amazing. It leaves their customers constantly worry about if their favorite product is next. STOP, deciem.
It's because Estee Lauder sucks. They ruin every brand they takeover.
I think this is such a good point.. if its not costing a multi national corporation much money then keep it in rotation and then like you say it could go viral and be your next million seller.. love x
