Pc and my nvidia sheild worked the best for me for the silicon dust app. Im getting one cuz i just got the cable card end of service notice from the cable co and since i only record local channels anyway im going ota. I already have the silicon dust network drive amd im not paying $20/mo for there garbage cloud dvr. Plus my promo package ends in a few months amd im not paying $60 for local channels

My local cable company sends local digital OTA stations thru the coax leading to my router. Would this unit pick up those networks if placed in the signal chain?

Hm I don’t know. If you plug that coax directly into your tv are you able to see those channels without a cable box? I remember this being the case like 20+ years ago. I think HDHomerun used to make a product that had a cable card in it for people who wanted to used it to decode encrypted channels from their cable provider.
If you can view channels on your tv with just the tuner and no cable box then I’d say maybe the HDHomerun will work? I’d recommend reaching out to them. Pretty sure their customer support will know.

If i buy this thing will it automatically give me better signal for my antenna? Cause when i try to plug in an antenna in my room i only get a few channels seems like my signal isn’t good

I think it is unlikely to improve your signal. The only way this would be better in terms of signal is if the tuner you are currently using isn’t very good and the one in the HDhomerun is somehow better.
I would guess that you’d be better off tweaking your antenna setup. If you have a good antenna that is already dialed in, then a preamp might be something to look into.
The HDHomerun simply is a tuner that takes the received signal and streams it over your local network.

Why bother buying this if DRM encrypts channels that use Actv 3.0

ATSC 3 is a huge mess currently. Theoretically the HDHomerun will get an update to support DRM if all the parties involved can get their acts together. Who knows if ATSC 3 will even survive. LG announced they are dropping ATSC 3 support from their TVs.

That's why I'm on the fence about buying the flex. It's always about money, data collection and ads.

@wickedkool705 all 4 tuners on the flex 4K can do ATSC1. You don’t have to watch ATSC3 if you don’t want to.

I’m not going to buy anything with ATSC 3.0 until they sort out the DRM mess. The more people buy ATSC 3.0, the quicker they will sunset 1.0.
