Who the heck lets a random guy from a coffee shop work on their car? Lmao
@@manbearpig704 There's naive, and then there's just plain dumb. "Duh."
@@manbearpig704Thank you for being one of the good ones ❤
@@nbaoldgirlsomething tells me you would give that mechqnic your car😂
@@joshmirelez6981Because I thanked a man for being honest? I can’t with the slowness 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@joshmirelez6981I called you slow so TH-cam probably won’t let the reply go through 😅
The reason he subtly altered each vehicle is he takes one on pretense of working on it then uses itvas a loaner to another person.then he takes their car and does the same.
He changes the appearance slightly so it wont be easily recognised by owner or their friends.
Always write down your mileage down before you leave it with anyone
Hide a tracking device in the car!
I thought fraud was a crime?
It is, but the stupidity of these women should be to
Trump is walking around free so ..
@@DeadCat-42
Touche. 👍
@@DeadCat-42 Do you make it a habit of committing slander and libel? Or is this statement a result of your TDS flaring up?
See my post beneath the video for an explanation of why this "mechanic" cannot be prosecuted in South Carolina.
Random strangers in parking lots offering to work on your car for cheap. What could go wrong?
That civil not criminal mess needs to be looked at. Dude legit stole her car and used as he saw fit. That should not be civil.
I'm thinking he swapped parts on them. bet that is not her original spoiler and the wheel covers are on ebay.
But these women were foolish enough to fall for this scam.
He didn't steal her car if she willingly gave it to him to repair. At least, that's not the definition of theft.
@@RonGee yep she freely gave him the car.
total civil matter.
@@RonGee That's the problem. Dudes like you say some "TeChNiCaLlY" bs and then like your own comment. She trusted him to repair, not use it as a loaner. That is stealing in my book.
Wtf..... some random guy comes up to u n offers work on ur car AND u pay him before any repairs are completed first? WTFFFFFF COME ON LADIES. THINK.
😂😂😂🎉 got em
😂😂😂🎉 got em
Its woman you're talking about. The funny part is they think they deserve equal rights and equal pay 😅
He just drives around in peoples cars lol
they leave a car for months at a shop?
yeah i knew a pothead who would do that. lovely people. so honest, transparent, truthful and intelligent.
@jonathannagela2130
Someone I know who hit a deer had to leave his car at the shop for weeks for all the necessary repair work to be done (including waiting on parts to be shipped)
@@ian.swift.31614
I knew plenty of sober mechanics that would do this, normal people, lovely, so honest, transparent, truthful and intelligent.
Never trust people they come to you say they help you to fix your car because 100% is a scam.
Unless they've actually been in business for 20 years.
Years ago I lived in Okinawa Japan (I am now retired USAF) and had a Filipino girlfriend. She wrecked her car so took it to the body shop to be repaired. When she got the car back she noticed something not quite right. It had a 1600 cc engine and a 4-speed transmission. When she took her car in to the shop it had a 2000 cc engine and a 5-speed. The body shop switched her engine/trans because one of the body shop workers thought she wouldn't notice. The JPs (Japanese police) investigated and made the shop switch it back. Crazy what some people will try.
N funking way. That's wild as all hell
She got a free upgrade and complained? Edit: Oops, I need to work on reading comprehension
@@cdevidalopposite, they downgraded it to a weaker engine
@@derrickhuestis157 you're right, I misread it
Did anyone do jail time? I heard the Japanese police don't play. Or are they all corrupt like they are here in the US?
He definitely took the battery core out of that Leaf and put in an older one.
This was my thought too. He had the leaf so that was probably his target. As for painting the wheels, I bet he swapped out the wheels for salvage yard wheels for the tires.
Bingo
0:25 but he drank Starbucks...he must be trustworthy
Are people really this naive?
Most North Americans are. Not counting Mexico of course.
Yes.
who the heck gets mechanic work by some random you meet at a coffee shop
Fraud is a crime.
In this case it amounts to a scam and fraud. This so-called mechanic should be doing some time for his criminal activity!
Then why is trump not in prison?
@@DeadCat-42 Your not, so why should he be?
This matter cannot be prosecuted in South Carolina because there was not a written and signed agreement between the parties. See South Carolina Code of Laws Section 32-3-10.
@@DeadCat-42 Trump did not commit a crime. He did not commit fraud.
You cannot be too trusting of people these days. These are evil and wicked times.
Do your homework before letting someone work on your vehicle.
Someone said they liked my truck, then said they do paint and can paint my truck if I wanted. Like I would decide to paint my truck cause a random person offered
So dangerous to trust your car to a smooth-talking stranger with a business card. It's not just the "repair" cost, wear & tear and damage to the vehicle you could be on the hook for. They can run up hundreds or thousands of dollars in traffic tickets and toll charges that would be billed to you, and god forbid they hit someone while driving your vehicle.
How is it not criminal?
You can't fix stupidity
There’s gotta be footage of this guy in the restaurants where he approached these women.
And,sooo? His identity is not a mystery,Speed.
@@jimmypage1517 I never saw him in the video. Did you, and are you being sarcastic?
@@jimmypage1517Film would be proof. Otherwise he could claim someone else used his name
The PT Barnum quote comes to mind.....
“Never trust your car with a complete stranger.” -PT Barnum
People are a bit stupid to think that a guy out of the blue would be nice and fix there car. This is gonna be a movie one day I bet. They are lucky they even got there cars back. Lesson learned! wow!!!!
* Their * and * there * not interchangeable
@@rtflone Don't forget * they're *.
@@markthebuilder9837 Yeah, that too
This dude is original in his approach at theft I'll tell you what.
Gave cash-up-front and keys to a stranger in the coffee shop parking lot or a "shop" somewhere? How did chump #1 get home? Where/how was the "loaner" delivered to chump #2? Missing pieces here.
Bigger shame is that neither of those vehicles are worth anything more than daily maintenance or car washes, they're probly not worth any less before or after this guy to advantage of them
Bigger shame.is that these two dumb.dumbs have the power to procreate. Sad world we're in....
This a prime example to install a hidden tracker when you drop off a vehicle for repair.
Consider Mr. P.T.BARNUM'S QUOTE
THESE IS A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Must have been a great looking guy...I bet if it was me these ladies would call the cops the second I was approaching them.
No crime committed..yea right
Car had damage and mileage and owner was without a car def crime and civil crime
@@Pie4life123civil vs penal code. You don’t think there’s a felony in all that? Really?

KNOW YOUR MECHANIC
Sounds like he takes ppl's cars, then switches out the parts, inside & out...🤔🤔
So these woman let some random man start chatting them up at a Starbucks, give the man possession of their very expensive electric vehicle without even seeing the shop the man claimed to work at? Whatever happened to "Ok, thanks mister, do you having a business card? Or what's the address to the shop?, I'll drive by there myself and check it out". The lame reasons and excuses the guy would give would have been enough for these smart women to know he was not legit. Education is expensive this time ladies.

Women
@@kdaltex But they don’t need us.lol.
He did have buisness cards. Good to be suspicious of random strangers. Don't people tell their kids that?
You’ve never networked to find good tradesmen have you? This is normal and usually a good practice for finding the good mechanics or good drywallers/plumbers in the area.
Either you’ve never lived in a small town or are ok with pissing away money to the dealership. 3rd party is almost always better and this is how you find them since good mechanics aren’t usually looking for more clients, they already have waitlists. They don’t advertise
Stop talking to strangers. No one nice is going to come talk to you about how you need to fix your car.
Stranger Danger.

While fraud is typically a criminal matter, South Carolina Code of Laws Section 32-3-10 clearly states that "Agreements required to be in writing and signed." The story of these two naive women is why you never enter into verbal agreements.
The reporter looks like Sean Penn...🤗🤗🥰🥰
Mr. Stoogenke, thanks for reporting on this janky mechanic! 🚨
See what happens when you go cheap?
Lawsuit time. Dishonesty apparently is not illegal.
Fool's and their money are soon parted...
Both can go to small claims court, and they can have the man served, may be funds back that route. Do not let a stranger work on your auto no matter how nice, that is how he is targeting people.
They got scammed
Next level con man. He gets points for that.
What's criminal is the way state legislatures classify these actions. Perhaps they should have their pay garnished and proceed forward in civil court. Narragansett Bay
That’s why you should never trust random people to fix your own car. Always go to a reputable dealer.
I don't trust dealers, either. They always try to upsell you on something or misdiagnose problems. I found a really good mechanic on Yelp who was formerly a certified mechanic at Toyota.
@@RonGee I was referring to local independent dealers. The tricky part is finding a reputable one.
Make that a reputable auto repair shop. STAY AWAY from dealer unless you want to get ripped off worse than this! Did you really suggest someone go to a dealer! And got thumbs up for it! Wow!
😂😂 lets trust a random person to fix your car.
had a service advisor at a local dealer and he would take customers cars home on the weekends
drive them all over the southwest and god knows where else then get them back early Monday morning .
he was doing that for years , finally got caught sheesh ballsy
This sounds like a job for ...The Equalizer! No? Aw!
Just another case where the police can't be bothered.
The police is too busy with their speed traps. Because apparently going 15 miles over the speed limit on the freeway is more dangerous than any other crime anyone can commit. Don't you feel safer that they can fill up traffic court everyday?
How do you give your car to someone you just met at a coffee shop? 😂
Take them to jaillll! Tired of these janky! car workers
Wait what
Who let's a stranger from a coffee shop take their car for 2 whole months and gives 900 or 1200 bucks on top of that. That's just INSANITY
NOT CRIMINAL?
Anyone can get business cards and a website. Cheap and easy. Don't be a sucker.
There's also lots of businesses operating without a license. Brick and mortar businesses. Look into that one that'll blow your mind
Who in their right mind would allow a stranger to work on your vehicle? Take your car to the dealership or someone that you trust
Do your homework/background checks BEFORE going to a newer ‘mechanic.
the car owners were criminally dumb.
lol
The perfect places to find gullible people.
Crooked. Plain and simple
Apparently people just let strangers “work” on their car.
Were the warning lights already lit when the second lady got it as a loaner? Or what did she do to it?No one asked that question? No wonder she wanted to remain anonymous
Civil not criminal? Hmmm there seems to be a felony in there somewhere 🤨
Sounds legit, give a complete stranger your car and keys…and cash? Do you have these two women’s contact info? I need a vacation
I always take a picture of my mileage when I drop off my car at a mechanic shop.
If he can't pay back the money then we need to talk about Harvesting Organs to cover the debt
Half of the audio is missing whenever Jason speaks I think you have a mixing problem
It should be criminal.
a scammer
If you don t want to pay for a proper service-- do not complain if they treat you as a fool
They prepaid for the work too? Who falls for that?
What is wrong with these people. Who gives their car to a stranger? How do they make it to adulthood and become so dumb.
It is criminal to lend your car to someone else without your permission.
Thanks,Perry.
Number 1 reason you never do business with anyone who walks up to you. Luckily they are only out money.
Gosh people are so gullible😢
Wtf do you mean its not criminal? Its a scam
What's with the toothbrush in the ear?

Simple rule, Don't let people sell you things...
Caveat emptor.
I let a surgeon I met at the mall take out my liver because I have two of them and someone needed it.
We have all done that. 😂
"I used to work for Tesla" Yea, right¡
Using it as a personal vehicle
So they were conned. Never use a backyard mechanic.
Unless they've been in business for 20 years and have good referrals. It's possible...
Who would let somebody that came up to them at a coffee shop work on their car?? Evidently these Darwin award winners would.
How could you be so gullible?
I've said this over and over and will continue to say it, it's so disgusting when the reporters use props in their stories. SO freaking pathetic and cheap. We ALL KNOW WHAT COFFEE IS AND WHAT the CUPS (to go) coffee comes in, so why on EARTH do you need to hold a coffee cup up in your piece to illustrate it? It's ridiculous, and in many ways, sad.
The Nissan Leaf story is weird. It barely needs any service.
Do my own car repairs - do not trust anybody. Too much scam and the law is not on your side. The other way is certified dealership if you have a warranty.
Sleuth first. Pay last
They clearly need a Rob Wolocek in their town...but all they have is a second rate clown.
Extremely gullible people would believe anything from anyone
I can't stop laughing 😅
He will change his name to John Daniel
Women being taken advantage of by auto repairmen in 2024 is Crazy…..
It happened to me in Lowell, Massachusetts. A Cambodian man who wore a mechanic shirt and he told me that he was a mechanic so I thought he was a good mechanic. But it turned out he wasn’t that good. We met at CAP on chelmsford Street.
